Answer:	I am not sure. The first one I bought came in a branded box but burned out in less than a year. I did purchase a second one recently - it also came branded. If this one burns out so quickly than I will know that something is wrong. Answer:	Straight out of the box it makes the clear static noise people are talking about. Sounds like some kind in insect hissing away. My Surface Pro 6 is charging really rapidly though.
