Answer: it says it is not recommended on the bottom but I believe it is not that it won't stand up to the microwave but because the bowl get hot which people are not accustom to. We have used these type bowls, plates, glasses etc for years in microwaves with no problems. Malamine is fantastic but the only draw back is they do get hot.

The only bad thing is that it must either be washed by hand or on the TOP RACK of your dishwasher, according to the label. I love the color two - very retro. I am still very happy with this purchase.

Question: I have a pa3832u-1brs. battery image in listing looks identical to my unit, so can someone confirm this will fit portege r
Answer: NO! Melamine is made of a type of "thermosetting plastic" which is shaped using a chemical process. Because of it's composition it will heat up without melting. This could lead to temperatures of over 500 degrees which can seriously burn you. It could even explode inside the microwave under certain conditions. While this is not always the case it is better to use microwave safe glass or Pyrex in the microwave and stick to using this type of bowl for mixing. It's a fabulous bowl in general. I have a full set.
