Answer:	Need to? For general use, no. If you expect it to be outside in heavy rain long enough to soak it you might want to use something. Maybe mink oil, neatsfoot oil or saddle soap? Or just about any leather treatment design for leathere for outdsoor use.

Answer:	I own two different Timbuk2 messenger bags. A 2015 and circa late 1990's. Both of my bags can be configured for either right or left hand wear with zero difference in functionality or convenience. My circa 90's Timbuk2 is one of the old Dirt Rag magazine subscription give away versions from that era and I occasionally wore it over either shoulder when bicycling and found it very comfortable either way. I love that bag. Can't think of anything I could possibly give it up or trade it for. I've even used that bag loaded with my scrubs and essentials (I was an RN) folded up inside, retention strap hooked from the shoulder strap to the bags opposite clip for stability and allowing me to keep the bag right where I wanted it in the middle of my lower back while riding my CBR to work on many beautiful Michigan days and nights. Answer:	it poured yesterday here in NYC and I was walking in the rain about 6 block to my car with no umbrella. The contents in my bag where still dry. It does a good job I would say. I had 10 manilla envelopes in my bag and none were affected by water.
Question:	does the XS bag fit a 13 inch mac book pro
Answer:	No. It will fit easily in the Small, however. Even an 11.6" laptop won't fit in the XS. Just a 10.1" 16:9 screened laptop (which is considerably longer than an iPad, since the iPad is more of a square while most laptops are more of a rectangle). The XS is certainly large enough for EDC with a tablet. The Small is large enough to be a personal item (35" sum of LxWxH) on a flight. The twin buckles and tuck in corners are superb in terms of keeping stuff from sliding out of either bag if you kick in under the seat.

Question:	Will the bag accomodate a nikon dlsr camera
Answer:	It's a great bag, and while it would probably fit, the bag really isn't ideal for cameras of that size, especially if you want to carry extra lenses. While there is descent padding for a tablet, I'd be hesitant to put a DLSR in the main compartment. It would also fit pretty awkwardly -- not maximizing the bag's capacity.
Question:	Will a sweatshirt or light blanket fit
Answer:	I often carry a light jacket in this bag along with my camera and tablet. A sweatshirt or softshell might fit, but may be too thick to allow you to carry anything else at the same time.
Question:	Is this bag waterproof
Answer:	It is not water resistant, but you can periodically apply a waterproofing product, such as Scotchgard, to help keep the water out. The bag is fairly absorbent, so once it gets wet you need to completely empty it, open it up, and blow dry air through it for a day or so.

Question:	is this a good middle school bag
Answer:	I like the style and organization of this bag and get lots of compliments on the look. It is large enough to carry a laptop and maybe 2-3 good sized books. The stitching is questionable. Mine came apart near one of the shoulder straps where it attaches to the bag, but not in a way that affected function. I was able to use it daily all last year. However, if your child is going to carry several heavy books, I would not advise using this bag. As a physical therapist, I would not advise weighing it down too much as it creates a strain on one side of the body and switching left to right becomes annoying after a while. I wouldn't advise carrying an excessively heavy backpack either, but I would opt for a backpack vs. this bag if weighted loads are unavoidable on a daily basis so that the body is more balanced.

Answer:	Just received it. It rubs off a mild color, likely because its new and had conditioning done (as written by the maker in the instructions that came with the bag). I would expect that to go away with time. Should not be visible on jeans or non-white clothing but I would not wear white with it until until the conditioning settles in.
