Answer:	it's a laptop pocket with a thick strap.... the flap would be much better but after a year of school it still looks New and is comfortable.... the best part is the shoulder straps thick and very comfortable... hope I answered to your satisfaction... :-)

Answer:	I have not had the opportunity to find out if it is waterproof. Tightly woven material has kept everything dry in the rain.

Answer:	My personal experience is that the backpack will hold up under a mild wetting, but if you're going to try to walk 5-10 minutes in a downpour, spray on some waterproofing material or you are going to be rather upset.

Answer:	If you really wanted to pack it in, I suppose it could fit - without the power brick. But in general, the answer is No. This one houses only the mac.

Answer:	I do get a kind of plastic smell from mine, but I keep it in a closed desk drawer when not in use. The odor is noticeable at close range (1 foot or less) but not very strong. I suspect that if left out in the open the smell would dissipate. When I've had it out for days (like on a trip), the smell is much less.
