Answer:	I believe they do comply with UMS. Although I don't know this for a fact. I put mp3 audio files on mine and play them in my car as well as on other devices that support USB devices. I've never had a problem. I even put groups of files in separate sub-directories - based on album name or artist. All my devices read the USB drives correctly - including all directory content. Answer:	I had problems accessing what i put on the drive. If your friend puts the drive back in the original computerit may be possible to access the pictures and transfer them. I returned all of these drives as they were defective
