  7. Quality of Service (QoS): QoS settings are available on many WD routers, enabling you to prioritize certain devices or applications to ensure they receive the best possible network performance.

  8. Storage and NAS Features: Western Digital has integrated network attached storage (NAS) capabilities into some of their routers. This allows you to connect external hard drives or WD My Cloud devices to create your own personal cloud storage solution accessible over the network.

  9. Firmware Updates: Like all network devices, WD routers receive firmware updates to improve performance and security. It's essential to keep your router's firmware up to date for the best experience.

  10. Price Range: Western Digital offers routers at various price points, making it possible to find a model that fits your budget and network requirements.

In summary, Western Digital Wi-Fi routers are designed to provide reliable and secure wireless connectivity. They come with a range of features, including dual-band and tri-band options, MU-MIMO technology, security features, and the ability to function as a NAS for data storage. Question: Is it possible to have two of these on the same network, one connected to the modem, the other connected through a wireless bridge or range extender
Answer: Yes, I have this on my network. The one that is connected to the modem is your primary router, the other will be an extender. In the manual that comes with it, it explains it. Also, you can use N750, N600 also as extenders. Setup the other router an Extender Mode. Go to this link for the manual, it will explain it. http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/UM/ENG/4779-705072.pdf
Question: Looking for a router to run a Minecraft server off of. Anyone tried using this one
Answer: I did have this router running. I had to reboot it a couple of times in the beginning but after awhile it ran without much problems. I only used the lower 2.4 gig band. The only reason I stopped using it was when I setup my new wireless HP printer which somehow changed my router's password and I couldn't access it thru my network. Never did figure out what happened but I am keeping it as backup and will reset back to factory settings and restart the setup if and when I need it.

Question: i love to watch series online and i just bought this router.but i am experiencing a buffer while i am watching online
Answer: Yes!
Question: Will this router works with MagicJack Plus device? Currently , I am facing an issue with Netgear N300 router. Please let me know
Answer: Mine doesn't lock but doesn't seem to need to. My 3yo grandson uses it a lot and there haven't been any problems. Easy to put up and easy to pack back into the bag that came with it.
Question: Are the USB ports 2.0 or USB
Answer: My 4-year-old, 50 lb grandson still uses this alot but think a crib mattress may slide off. I purchased a roll up beach mat with straps that I can wrap around the legs of the cot and this seems to work quite well. He's even comfortable without anything but a pillow! Good purchase.

User questions & answers

Question: Are the USB ports USB 3.0 or
Answer: I can't say with any certainty that the ports are all 2.0 or 3.0 or one of each. I have only one peripheral that is a USB 3.0 and it doesn't work with the router because the router will not recognize it as a back up disk. I can tell you that one port is black on the inside and the other is blue if that helps. My understanding is that blue represents USB 3.0. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Other reviews debated the same question.
Question: Can I expect this router to have a range of at least 200 to 300 feet? My office is about 200 feet from the location where I need WiFi capability
Answer: I think the effective range is about 150 feet in a residential environment.
Question: Is this compatible with hard drives that use the USB port for power, such as the My Passport Ultra or Slim
Answer: Yes. That it what I have in it right now it's 1 TB that is USB powered and it's pluged in and works perfectly.
Question: Does the wd my net n900 have a modem installed
Answer: I tried to mix the modem with the router and everything just slowed down. After some research I went back to the two items. I have a fast modem that doesn't need upgrading, but the router is a dual channel and the old one would only care part of the speed that I carry so trying this one and see if the 300Mps that I pay for is worth it.

User questions & answers

Question: Does the N900 Central support Windows
Answer: No. It's just a router. You will need a dsl or cable modem to use the Internet.
Question: Pardon my ignorance, but does this replace a TimeWarner router? If not, can it be used in conjunction with TimeWarner
Answer: I assume you are accessing wireless, I have run into this problem once with whole home DirectTV. Just made sure It was connected to this router and my IPAD used an ID from that router (ex. WD75000).
Question: Is the power adapter build for 230 - 110V or just 110V
Answer: Although I never used MagicJack Plus before, I studied it and believe it should work. I assumed that you want to use the MagicJack Plus without a computer. Then you should use an ethernet cable to connect port 1 to 4 of N750 to the MagicJack Plus (not the yellow port labled Internet. That port is for N750 to connect to a cable modem or DSL modem.Good luck.
Question: Is the USB port 3.0 compatible
Answer: According to page 7 of the user manual for my WD N750, all 3 of the My Net routers (600, 750, 900)'s USB ports are of the 2.0 version.

User questions & answers

Question: How is the range for the 5GHz signal with this router
Answer: I don't believe any NAT or MAT activities are going on. This is strictly a bridge that should not behave that way. The bridge does have it's own IP address but all devices connected to it receive an IP from the primary router as if the bridge were not even in the mix. I also do not recall any mention of NAT functionality in the settings.
Question: how far can it reach
Answer: No, you will need a router that supports wireless bridging as a type of wan connection; pretty hard to find. This unit will only bridge wireless to lan transparently, it does not have a firewall/nat.
Question: what is the range
Answer: I guess we'll never know, because searching for "My Net AC bridge" on Google or WD's own website just takes you to WD's home page (http://www.wdc.com/en/). Anyhow, the bridge Web UI and documentation were written for complete dummies (like I wrote in review, I wasn't able to find out what channel, bit rate and signal strength I was having when connected to my router) - so beamforming, most like, wasn't even mentioned. I'd stick with Linksys.

  • Connecting external storage, shared printers or scanners and other USB devices

User questions & answers

Question: Is this really dual band both the 2.4 ghz and th 5 ghz band and does it have guest access or do you have to give a guest your full network access
Answer: I don't know the absolute range on this router. However, my home "footprint" is approximately 50 feet by 40 feet and is a single story home; it is an "L shape" with the long side 50 feet. My router is located at the point where the short side and the long side meet. I have excellent signal strength anywhere in this area. If you then make the area a "rectangle" (or 2000 sq. ft. area), I have excellent signal strength in this same area with the router. I have numerous walls within my home and a brick exterior; router signal strength is excellent when considering the "rectangle" shape and the walls. As an additional note, I have Edimax AC600 USB adapters (EW-7811UTC) on my laptop computers to interface to the router, which indicate a speed of 433Mbps (note, speed can vary, with worst case being 72Mbps; but generally stays at 433Mbps; which is excellent). Signal quality is "Excellent". My WD AC1300 router has been an excellent router, very stable, reliable, good speed and signal quality. I have been doing my own wireless networks for over 15 years and I would recommend this router to anyone. I do note that WD has stopped manufacturing these routers; it appears they have exited the network router market. Current price (July 2014) on Amazon for this router is approximately $90.00; an excellent price for the router.

User questions & answers

Question: Does the wd my net ac bridge have network address translation (nat) or mac address translation (mat) and if so can that function be turned off
Answer: There is a version of this product that is both a bridge and range extender called the "WD My Net Wi-Fi Range Extender". Although, the range extender does not have AC and has only one Ethernet port, where the "WD My Net AC Bridge" has four Ethernet ports and has AC wireless.
Question: Would this create a firewall protected network that connects wirelessly to another unsecured network like in a hotel. Can a pc use it

User questions & answers

Question: how easy is it to set this up in my HOME
Answer: Easy. Plug it in to power and an Ethernet connection. Download the WD my cloud app on your PC and log in to administer the device. That’s about it.
Question: Can each family members have their own folder with a password
Answer: Hi - I bought the 4TB my Cloud Home device. I am still trying all the features. It is possible to let your family members set-up their own user ID, password and dedicated folders which only your family member will have access to etc. I found it very annoying that as administrator of the home cloud, you WILL NOT have any control o what they are storing (or) access to any of those files. May be the WD designed the product that way that individuals have complete data security to their own areas. I am still learning. Good Luck
Question: Can you install BitTorrent/transmission client on it
Answer: From what I can see, this is pretty locked out but it does come with a few services preinstalled (Plex, IFTTT etc.)
Question: Can this be connected to a local network without an internet gateway? Does this require an internet connection to function locally
Answer: You could but it would be of limited value. It is not designed for local storage. It wants to be a Cloud device. Go read this review and the mnaufacturer’s response: https://www.amazon.com/review/R438M3H6BK69U/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B076CTK55W

User questions & answers

Question: what if the NAS device fails? Can you remove the drives and put in another device to recover data or are they hardware layer encrypted
Answer: Yes. A long story short, my WD My Cloud Mirror suffered a "blown out" ethernet port due to a lightening strike. I purchased the EX2 Ultra (diskless) and placed my old WD Red drives, that were in the My Cloud Mirror, and it worked flawlessly. It didn't skip a beat. I was up and running like nothing happened. I was so relieved that the content on the drives were unaffected!
Question: Is the 8tb option include 1 drive at 8tbs or 2-4tb hdds
Answer: 2 4TB drives wich can then be run in a raid configuration.
Question: Im assuming any advertised capacity would be half using raid
Answer: Well, this is an old question, so nobody will see my glorious contribution; but here goes anyway! In order to use RAID 1, the two drives in use for that must be of the same size. They should be identical --- well nearly so. But, if one of the drives is slower than the other, the slower drive controls the speed (obviously). Two 6 TB drives in RAID 1, however, does not give you exactly 6 TB. There is a small part of the discs that gets assigned overhead duty to keep track of the status of the mirroring and to manage the mirroring. You could assume a high percentage --- maybe even more than 99%. I can't find any real figures for it, but since a 6 TB drive doesn't hold 6 TB anyway, you might just assume something like 5.98 TB for two nominal 6 TB drives in RAID 1. Keep in mind that RAID isn't free!! Not only is the capacity of the RAID array less than the combined capacity of the drives, there is also a performance hit because everything has to be written more than once and depending on which RAID (n) you choose, it may be split across several drives. Another consideration which I had not previously considered is the age of the drives. If you start with two identical drives, four years from now each of those drives will have been in service for, guess what, four years. If one of them fails, the other may not be long behind. Some folks (what we usually refer to as "THEY") would suggest a mix of drive ages. Your mileage may vary, as "they" say. :-)
Question: Has anyone used this nas with plex
Answer: I am going to buy the 4 bay version. If I can stream from Plex using 2 old Lenovo IX4-300D's than I am sure the ARMADA 388 1.6ghz chip will be fine for steaming from Plex. The Lenovo only has a 1.2ghz chip and ARMADA XP chip in it.
