User questions & answers

Question: Please purchase mounting hardware and cables separately if necessary. What do I need
Answer: Yes. It is better than most; anyone with auburn/red hair can wear this - it can be applied thinly, easily
Question: Is everything I need to install this drive in my desktop included in the package
Answer: I often change color of mascara according to time of day and season. I have medium brown auburn hair so in summer I like to wear a dark brown since the days are longer and black can look severe in daylight. In winter though ( I live up north) with less sun and cloudy days I think black is better. The occasion can can also determine color choice evening parties and darker nightclubs call for black mascara. Go with what you fell is right.. I like this mascara because I trust neutrogena.
Question: Why is this particular model about one-half the price of the following model
Answer: Yes!, but some planning may be needed. I redid a night stand that has the same issues and you may have to use multiple pieces to cover the top, drawer fronts and such, also decorative trim pieces that have deep groves and spirals you will not be able to cover them. Groves that are 1/4" deep or less are fine, however you will need to use a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat and keep it moving, don't hold in same spot to long or you will melt covering, a tool of the same shape as the grove and that fits snugly in grove but loose enough to reach the bottom is needed. With heat applied and moving heat source, watch covering as soon as it changes shape take tool and start working covering into grove. ( note: do only small areas as you go because you need to keep working tool until area cools and covering retains its new shape and stays stuck in grove. ) Make sure you have cleaned cabinet thoroughly including groves before starting process, also only pull back small amounts of the backing paper say a 1/2" to an inch so you can easily work out air bubbles as you go and if you got things crooked you can pull it off and reapply it and not waste anything. Just take your time and go slowly and also use plenty of new single edge blades, EXACTO knife or both for trimming excess and cutting corners.
Question: So many of these reviews say the drives are old (pass their 5 year warranty). Is this true
Answer: Sorry, this wood contact paper cannot be used on the floor. Because it is not as wear-resistant as the products used on the floor.

User questions & answers

Question: Why does taking the sticker off of the 520 void the warranty
Answer: Hi, Please check the below link for warranty void list for more information: https://www.seagate.com/support/warranty-and-replacements/void-warranty-checklist/ Kind regards, Dev Seagate Support.
Question: My computer has a usb 3.1 port, will that be compatible with thunderbolt
Answer: No. Thunderbolt and USB 3.1 are different formats. And if you got an adapter, you would create a bottleneck effect on its performance and end up causing slow access and transfer speeds
Question: Can the hard drive be replaced easily (opening the enclosure) in case it fails
Answer: That depends on what you are referring to. Its usually not difficult to install a new Hdd, Though that depends on your ability to work with Tech. That being said, if the drive fails, it would be replaced, not opened. So, in summery, installing new drive, not difficult. Opening the drive... not possible for most. And not advisable as the chances of success are nearly nil. Good luck
Question: What is the rpm
Answer: From the description: "Ideal for consoles, gaming laptops and mini PCs, FireCuda SATA SSHD hard drives feature SSD performance and HDD capacities. Enjoy 7200 RPM speeds" I doubt they'd include the part about consoles, gaming laptops and mini pcs if this was for the 3.5 version.

User questions & answers

Question: Can I plug this in as an external hdd enclosure with usb 3.0 capabilites and have it function on an xbox one
Answer: Yes, the only requirement on the Xbox One side is that the connection be USB 3.0 and the drive be a minimum of 500 Gb. Other than that purchase a reliable enclosure kit that also supplies power and uses the SATA connection already on the HDD.
Question: On the picture it shows the hard drive's insides, do I need a special enclosure besides me computer case for this
Answer: If your are installing in a Windows PC, that is a new-ish computer (probably any that came with vista and many that came with XP) it will support Serial ATA hard drives, open abbreviated to SATA drives. You should look up the specs on your computer to insure compatibility. This hard drive is a SATA drive so it will install and replace your other computer. I purchased this drive, and also bought an external case. This would allow this internal hard drive to work as an external drive. It plugs into an external power supply and connects to the computer with a USB cable. The external case I purchased here on amazon is a: Sabrent USB 3.0 To 3.5-Inch Sata Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure Black Case.I was installing Windows 7 on my PC. I stalled the WD 1 TB drive in the PC, installed the Windows 7 software, then installed my older smaller drive in the external case.
Question: Is this the retail version (boxed) or is it an OEM bulk drive
Answer: What do you think you get for $86/4TB? It's OEM without a warranty. If you want that spend $20 more for 2 years with the retail version. For my use I don't need a warranty anyway, odds are it will fail decades from now since I use these as storage mostly sitting unpowered on a shelf 95% of the time (with LTO backups just in case I'm unlucky). The 4 in my PC are the same drives in an 8TB raid1, and they have been spinning 24-7 for 3 years now with no HDD replacement needed.
Question: Which 1 TB hard disk you recomend between the Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX or the Seagate Barracuda ST
Answer: I have bought and used WD and Seagate hard drives. I have never had an internal WD hard drive fail on me yet, but I have had one of their older Elements external hard drives fail on me. As for Seagate, I purchased an ST2000DM001 (which is the 2tb version) several months ago that has now failed. I lost everything and got a clicking sound, as if it were stuck. Only lasted 5 months. In comparison I have had my 1st WD blue WD10EZEX for more than two years now and I have not had a failure at all. It's extremely reliable, so much so I decided to replace the Seagate one with a another one of the WD10EZEX's. I have 4 hard drives in my computer 1 SSD (For operating system), 2 WD Blues 1tb and an older Seagate one from an older computer (a dell dimension) with about 250gigs of capacity. I'm planning on getting another blue or black 1 tb to replace it later. I definitely would recommend the blues. It's not that expensive, it's reliable and comes with a decent warranty. I would not recommend Seagate. Just can't trust it. No matter what hard drives should last past the warranty, not even a year and it fails? What kind of QC are they having at Seagate?

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work with mediasonic probox usb 3.0 & esata enclosure
Answer: I am not sure. I don’t know if this answer will help. I wear a 8.5 in Men’s but I purchased a 9 in men’s for this rollerblade and it fits perfectly. If you bought a Men’s Size 8 and it’s tight then it sounds like a 9 might be your best because these rollerblades run a half size smaller than regular Men’s shoes.
Question: Can i use 4 of these red pros 10 tb with pr4100 diskless
Answer: Yes they are. When you order the rollerblades they come with a small tool kit to remove the blades and brakes so they can be replaced after normal wear and tear.
Question: Can you use western digital red drives in a server raid
Answer: 11 will be ok.
Question: Is it true WD will not vailidate the warranty if purchaced from this site/amazon
Answer: I would suggest the size 8.5. these run small and if you are a 24.5 then the size 25.5 will be great.

User questions & answers

Question: compatible with ext
Answer: You could, but it's really designed for a NAS/Server setup!!! For a HTPC, I'd look at once of their Green Drives! The Green like the Red arn't the FAST HDD. They are slower, but for streaming Media in a HTPC type setup, that's what I would go with. It's slower, but it's more Energy Efficant and more quite and less heat. If you need the Speed of loading files up fast, the Black drive is the version to get. You can also go with a combination of a Black drive for all your normal programs, and a green drive for your Media. Even go with a 120 or 240 Gig SSD drive for Windows and a few programs, and have all your Media on a large 3TB Green drive!!! You don't need a fast HDD to stream Media!!! I have a NAS with 3 WB RED 3TB HDD installed in RAID 5 config for a total of 5.4TB of storage. I just built my new PC which I have 2 SSD drives installed, my older 120 Gig one and a almost new 240 Gig one. Plus 2 3TB HDD which are another brand, but basically Black drives. One I keep most of my software on and the other I use for Media Center. The 240 Gig SSD I use for Windows 7 and a few other programs I want to load quick, and my 120 Gig SSD I use for the PLEX Database files. It's a ton faster on a SSD then on a HDD even a fast HDD with the fastest SATA connection!!! I could of went with just a Green 3TB HDD for Media Center and it would have been just fine! I'm a Cable Cutter, so I record all my Broadcast TV channels using Media Center to play in any room in my house. Works out great and very flexable. Same with PLEX and using my ROKU boxes for that. I'm a huge user of PLEX. Ripping my huge Movie collection and putting it all on my NAS has been great. No more hunting around for the movie I want. I don't even have to get up. I can watch them in any room in the house and they look great. I take all my discs out of the cases toss the cases in the garbage and put the discs into CD/DVD Disc Binders. Ones that hold like 300 discs. It saves huge amounts of space. using PLEX, it's like my own personal Netflix service!!! Except no monthly fee's and it's all content I like. it also never comes and goes. There's none of that crap you have to skip or not allowed to skip before the movie like Movie Advertisements and FBI warnings, etc. All Gone, starts right up.I've been using my 3 WB 3TB Red drives for over a year now and have been problem free. My NAS shows zero errors. It's important for these things to run slower and produce less heat and be more energy efficient for what their intended use is for. That's for a Home or small business NAS! I have mine in my small Closet up on a top shelf with my other hardware. It can hold 4 drives and I currently have the 3 in it and down just just over 1 TB of space left so I'll be popping another drive in soon. maybe delete some other content. Let me tell you, those drives are packed together very close and in a small case with a single fan!!! It's a hot day out today. I don't have the AC on, the doors are open. My Netgear ReadyNAS is showing 38 degrees right now, my HDD are showing 38/39 Degrees, that's Celsius. So around 100/102 degree's F. It powers down to sleep mode when it's not used for 10 minutes. So another way to conserve power!!! I'm up to 11071 Power On hours and 17157 Start/Stop Count currently on #1 WB 3TB Red Drive. Still showing a ATA error count of 0. Just some of the stuff I can log into my NAS and look up simply. I got my first one at Newegg and the second one and third one here at Amazon back May 21 St, 2013.Again, there's a reason why WB is making different types, more Specialized HDD's!!!! If you're not going to put the RED into a NAS, I'd go with the Green drive instead. Still get the slower speed, Energy savings, less heat and less noise because they're running slower. Instead of 7200 RPM, they're around 5400 RPM. With faster speed like the black drive, well it requires more power, more power means more heat and more noise. But software loads up faster. So there's Pro's and Con's to anything and everything. You CAN use the RED, but really, if it's not going in a NAS, why would you want to? It has some extra features for use with a NAS, that the Green drive doesn't, but your PC is not going to use them like the NAS will.
Question: This hard drive is incredibly noisy. Like it is eating celery non-stop all day. Why
Answer: Western Digital will no longer honor the warranty on these devices. I just purchased 2 and WD indicated that they were sold in 2014 and the warranty has expired. I've contacted Amazon and asked them to remove the "3-year manufacturer's limited warranty" detail on this listing. WD even had me send them the Amazon invoice and pictures of the drives and still denied any warranty coverage when I tried to register them.
Question: Does this drive have international WD warranty
Answer: You could use them as a Stand alone drive, but they only run at 5400 RPM. That's really pretty slow for a main drive on your PC. A normal PC hard drive speed is 7200 RPM. Makes a pretty big difference. For a NAS, the slower speed is ideal. It's more then fast enough to stream content or backup data and since it runs slower it uses less power and doesn't run as hot. In a NAS where space is at a premium, heat can be a issue when you're cramming in a bunch of HDD in a small amount of space. You would be better off getting like a WD Black Drive for Desktop PC use. Now if instead you installed a SSD drive as your Main drive, that will make a huge difference, then maybe you could go with one of these slower drives for your big main programs, but load times still suffer. A green drive would work just as well in this case and be cheaper. Still better to go with the faster Black drives. A nice SSD for Windows and some of your heavy used programs, and everything else on a Black Drive makes a pretty nice, speedy setup.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this hdd be used as a desktop drive for hp z240 machine
Answer: Try the Hitachi website.
Question: Any significant difference between the gold drives and the red nas drives
Answer: Addendum: great drive (at least mine are but I brought them before WD acquired the HDS line... )I went through a bunch of WD and Seagate drives prior to the Ultrastars.I've got a 500 GB for my system drive and the 2 TB for my data. With what I've spent on the other mfgs drives in the past three years I could have build a RAID 5 setup using the Hitachis.(in fact when I build my next box later this year, that's what I'm going to do!)
Question: Can you open the hard drive
Answer: Susanne, Good question Susanne. No maam.. These are bulk packed parts, individually labeled and come with a 3 Year ACP advanced replacement warranty.. I do however carry HP Retail boxes with full mfg warranty as well but I think they run about $360.00 each. Let me know. Ill be glad to help either way. Most of the vendors are going to carry bulk on this item.
