User questions & answers

Question: Where can i also get the rack for 2.5" sata hdd/ ssd
Answer: Dear Customer, It's built into this enclosure. You just slide your 2.5" HDD or SSD into the slot covered by the door on this enclosure.
Question: can this be used to install a DVD/ bluray player removed from a laptop
Answer: It will depend on the size of the optical drive. First, you will have to remove the front cover from the driver or it will not fit in the bay. Most optical drives are wider than standard 3.5" drives and will not fit in the adapter bay. It probably will not work mechanically, even though it would work electronically. The 2 bays are 2.5 inches and 3.5 inches wide respectively so there is no way to fit a 5.25 inch optical drive into the bay. You can install the optical drive internally, I have done it myself.
Question: Does this >>> tray less rack for 2.5" sata hdd/ ssd <<< there is no rack for the ssd
Answer: There is a door on the enclosure for SSDs. It is the small door with the silver button and silver strip on it. Your SSD slides directly in there.
Question: Can the 2.5" slot hold a 15mm thick HDD
Answer: Dear Customer,Thank you for your interest in Syba products. The HDD bay is 10mm thick. Unfortunately this dimmension will not support a 15mm thick HDD.Regards, SYBA CST RZ161122

User questions & answers

Question: Latch no longer stays shut. Whats the warranty? Cant seem to find a contact seller button anywhere to contact Syba
Answer: Check Amazon's return policy.
Question: does anyone else need to push the 3.5" door really hard to get it to lock when there's a drive inside
Answer: Yes I have to push the door in but I mitigated by securing the tray with screws. Now closings the door is a breeze.
Question: Does this bay support connection of a 2.5" drive into the 3.5" slot? Or will it only accommodate 3.5" drives in that slot
Answer: it will support 1 of each not 2 of 1. a 2.5 in the 3.5 slot would have a lot of play so I do not think it would work on a continual basic. it might fit but it won't stay plug in to my way of thinking.
Question: Is it hot swap support
Answer: The capability to support hot swap is determined by your motherboard data controller. If it supports raid or ahci it will support hot swap. You can use this as a tray for hotswapping. Check tour bios settings and or your motherboard or machine manual for more information.

User questions & answers

Question: How do i access syba pci-express 8-port internal sata 6gbps dual chipset pci-e v2.0 x 1 slot controller card during the bios boot
Answer: I hope I understand right. The card's Option ROM produces the SATA Controller Mode splash screen. If you're not going to be booting from any SATA devices connected to that card you can change the BIOS setting to skip that card's Option ROM from the boot sequence. If you CANT access the card splash screen, or your keyboard is non responsive during this time; clear the CMOS to force re-detect of hardware changes.Clearing the CMOS forces re-enumertion of all hardware to resolve resource conflicts, which sounds like it could be the case. (A range overlap?)

User questions & answers

Question: Please purchase mounting hardware and cables separately if necessary. What do I need
Answer: Yes. It is better than most; anyone with auburn/red hair can wear this - it can be applied thinly, easily
Question: Is everything I need to install this drive in my desktop included in the package
Answer: I often change color of mascara according to time of day and season. I have medium brown auburn hair so in summer I like to wear a dark brown since the days are longer and black can look severe in daylight. In winter though ( I live up north) with less sun and cloudy days I think black is better. The occasion can can also determine color choice evening parties and darker nightclubs call for black mascara. Go with what you fell is right.. I like this mascara because I trust neutrogena.
Question: Why is this particular model about one-half the price of the following model
Answer: Yes!, but some planning may be needed. I redid a night stand that has the same issues and you may have to use multiple pieces to cover the top, drawer fronts and such, also decorative trim pieces that have deep groves and spirals you will not be able to cover them. Groves that are 1/4" deep or less are fine, however you will need to use a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat and keep it moving, don't hold in same spot to long or you will melt covering, a tool of the same shape as the grove and that fits snugly in grove but loose enough to reach the bottom is needed. With heat applied and moving heat source, watch covering as soon as it changes shape take tool and start working covering into grove. ( note: do only small areas as you go because you need to keep working tool until area cools and covering retains its new shape and stays stuck in grove. ) Make sure you have cleaned cabinet thoroughly including groves before starting process, also only pull back small amounts of the backing paper say a 1/2" to an inch so you can easily work out air bubbles as you go and if you got things crooked you can pull it off and reapply it and not waste anything. Just take your time and go slowly and also use plenty of new single edge blades, EXACTO knife or both for trimming excess and cutting corners.
Question: So many of these reviews say the drives are old (pass their 5 year warranty). Is this true
Answer: Sorry, this wood contact paper cannot be used on the floor. Because it is not as wear-resistant as the products used on the floor.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work with sas drives
Answer: Very likely. I installed it in a 1U.
Question: I have 2 x wd 10tb sas disk, can i use this pci on pc as data disk
Answer: From the firmware of the card (Ctrl + C) at boot up, you can setup RAID 0, 1, 1E, 10. If you download the "MegaRAID storage manage", you can setup RAID 5. With Windows 8 and 10 you can setup RAID 5 using the built-in Disk Management of windows as well. I use this card with 6 x (3TB SAS 6Gbs HDDs) in a RAID 0 for gaming. For me this has been the best option as SSD for the amount of space I need is to costly. With Gaming you want to stay away from software RAID, as you want all your CPU clocks to work on your game.
Question: Using Windows 10, can I use for a boot drive
Answer: Hi, Yes you can. I believe you can backplane and backplane again.Hope this helps. I run 3 spindals, 2 solid state hybrids, and 2 solidstates. Have a good oneJim
Question: Only half of my drives show up. one sas connector appears to be dead. is there a bios i can access
Answer: The number of ports is the actual number of physical connections on the card. Each of the SAS SFF connectors has four SAS/SATA capable connections and you can buy a fan out cable that will allow you directly to connect 8 physical drives to the card - four drives on each of the two SAS ports. However, you can also get an interface known as an SAS expander. An expander will have one or two SAS input connectors and multiple SAS connectors for output. You can plug those into the card and control many more drives. For example, if you had one of these cards and two expanders which each had one input and four outputs, you could plug one expander into each of the SAS ports on the card and that would give you 8 SAS connectors and you could plug 4 drives into each SAS port on the expander using the same type of cable that would allow you to connect four drives directly to each port on the card. You can plug expanders into expanders too to support more and more drives. The quoted maximum number of drives just tells you how many physical SAS or SATA drives you can plug in if you have lots and lots of expanders.
