Answer:	Yes you can, I have the 4tb version of this for my ps4 & I'm loving it, although 1tb isn't alot for 8th gen games, I mean CoD games are typically around 70gb not including updates & dlc, so say if you had a 2tb internal drive in your system & you bought this then your looking at around 60 games more or less but if you only had a 500gb drive in your ps4 then it would you would only be able to have 30 games or so (& personally I like alot of different types of games), so in short if you're a causal gamer &/or you're on a budget than I recommend this drive, but if you're a hardcore gamer & you have $120 to spend then I would say go for the 4tb version os this drive which would hold 90+ plus games with a 500gb internal drive, the 1tb drive would be cheaper in the short run but would be more expensive in the long run at least when you run out of space again & have to buy another drive that is, but every gamer is different so get what you think is right for you, but once again to answer your question yes seagate external drives work with ps4, you just have to choose if you want it to hold game data or save data it can do both but not at the same time, hope i was pf help.

The disc goes in, then it makes all these grinding sounds and then-nothing. It stops. Before I throw it in the trash-any suggestions?

Answer:	I had this hard drive for awhile as a spare backup drive in my PC. I plugged it into the front port of my PS4 and instantly gained 4TB of space. It requires no extra power source, the PS4 will format it and you can play games on it just the same as installing to your HDD inside the PS4. I don't notice any speed issues on my PRO, it runs the same speed. It's perfect to stop you from having to shuffle games off and on the limited 1TB in the system.

Answer:	An MP3 is about 1-2 meg/minute depending on bit rate, so in the worst case, say 4-8 million minutes depending on bit rate, so it's about 66,666 to 123,000 hours depending on file size. About 7.6 - 15 years of continuous recording. Chances are, unless you're loading it with porn (and maybe not even then!) you probably can't fill this before it wears out. Trust me, by the time you even come close to filling this drive, a 40TB drive will be about the same price, you'll buy that, then copy everything over, format it, then offer it to your kid, who will wonder what can he do with a drive this small.

Answer:	The 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB drives are all SMR, which means they are slow for random writes and not suitable as boot drives. (Google "Why SMR drives are sub-optimal for write-intensive workloads".)

Answer:	I got the ST4000DM004 which claims 7200 rpm on amazon and my computer is reporting it has a media rotation rate of 5425 rpm

Answer:	The 2 TB or smaller ones will work with the PS4 after they are removed from the enclosure, but the 4TB one will not. It is larger than the other ones and will not fit. Or at least I could not get mine to fit as it is double the thickness of the current 500gb hard drive that was in my PS4. So if this is for a PS4 make sure to purchase the 2TB or smaller ones!!

Answer:	As the other users have said, this means it's using two drives in Raid 0 mode, meaning you split the data between two drives to effectively double your speed. The Seagate site says 120mb/s vs. 220mb/s. While this sounds great, realize that by splitting your data between two drives, you are also effectively doubling your statistical chance that one will fail causing you to lose said data. It's not a good idea for storage, but fine if you need read/write performance for something like using the drive as a cache/scratch disk for video editing.
Question:	Does anyone know how to safely remove the drive from the external enclosure
Answer:	Get a small, flat-bladed screw driver and gently insert between the aluminum top and the plastic bottom. Rotate the screwdriver slightly to pry the top off. At this point slide the screwdriver around the perimeter and the top will come off. Once the top is off, you will see the top of the internal drive. Carefully remove from the plastic lower without prying or subjecting the drive to significant shock. It is easiest to remove by lifting the side opposite the USB connector. Once the drive is out of the plastic enclosure, you'll need to remove some aluminum tape and wax paper from the drive. Be careful when doing this to avoid ESD which may damage drive circuitry. Once the tape and paper are removed, the USB to SATA board can be carefully removed from the drive. It is an interference fit without any fasteners. You now have a bare 2TB, Samsung Spinpoint 9T drive that is only 9.5 mm tall! Great for laptops and the PS4.I'll try to post some photos later.
