Answer:	A USB 3.0 cable is included with the drive, and that can be connected to a USB 2.0 port on the computer, but that will of course greatly reduce performance if you choose to do so.

Answer:	A USB-C hard drive is compatible with Thunderbolt 3 ports on a Mac, so this will work. Also works of course with USB-C ports, and older USB 3.0 ports using supplied cable.

Answer:	USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 share the same physical connection type (USB-C). USB-C devices can be connected to Thunderbolt 3 ports, as TB3 supports USB-C devices. However, TB3 drives cannot be connected to USB-C ports on computer. So, this USB-C drive will connect to USB-C ports, Thunderbolt 3 ports, or using included cable, USB 3.0/2.0 ports.
Question:	Can I take the hard drive out and use it as a regular desktop hard drive
Answer:	I’ve done this with about 30+ 2tb, 4tb, and 8tb drives over the years- converting an external to an internal- and they are all still running fine to this day. Usually $30-40 cheaper than the internal and you get a free usb cable to boot. Just make sure you don’t hurt your hands while doing it. Twisting a flathead screw driver in the seams seemed like the way to go if I recall. They don’t make the cases easy to open. For someone below: Don’t use these for RAID. NAS rated drives are different because they handle higher heat, able to run 24/7 with cross checks, etc. read more about what makes the iron version a NAS approved drive compared to the standard barracuda.

Answer:	Just reformatted the external hard drive using Disk Utility. Works for Mac :) Im not a tech savvy person, so I found this website to be useful when selecting what option to select when erasing the hard drive. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4276140?start=0&tstart=0I chose to use Journaled as I am using this for a Time Machine back up, like Matthew Chellew suggests in the first answer.

Answer:	Like a charm, exactly what I purchased it for. Plug into any of the three ports (all 3 of the original XBox One ports are 3.0) and give it a minute. The XBox will recognize it and you have to choose for storage or media. Choose storage for games and you are up and running. Do be aware that this HDD does require its own power supply. I was transferring games within 5 minutes. FWIW within half an hour there was a power outage in the middle of a transfer and the external drive, the XBox One and the data are were ok when power came back on. If a data transfer is interrupted for any reason simply delete the failed portion on the destination drive and start the process over.

Answer:	This unit has USB and Thunderbolt. There are adapters available to use the older USB devices with USB C.

Answer:	You may need a specific Thunderbolt driver for Ubuntu to access this drive. I would go the Ubuntu website to see if this exists. Normally, I access Ubuntu from a virtual machine so I avoid this kind of problem.

Answer:	The drive itself is only 5,400 RPM. However, if your only option is Thunderbolt or USB 2.0 (2011 iMac for instance) then this drive will still offer higher performance over a 7,200 RPM external USB 2.0 hard drive. Having said that, I have two of these. I have one on a 2013 iMac (i7 & 16GB Ram) and another on a 2011 iMac (i7 & 16GB Ram). I use them as external drives for my Windows 8 virtual machines. They are very speedy, and I haven't had any performance issues as of yet. You're correct however, you will never see 10,000GBit/s as they imply.

Answer:	Noise is very subjective matter, but to me, this unit was pretty quiet compared to other drives I have i.e. RAID drive...
Question:	Is the usb-c interface actaully thunderbolt 3, or just usb-c
Answer:	USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 are NOT the same. TB3 is significantly faster, and can daisy chain TB3 devices. USB-C is much cheaper, but also slower, and can not be daisy chained. They do use cables with the same connectors, but this looks like it's just USB-C. Price point is a giveaway. Don't think you can get a drive with TB3 this inexpensively.

Answer:	This drive is not slow at all - you have your megabits and megabytes confused. USB 2.0 has a max speed of 480mbps, which is 60MB/s, while USB 3.0 can push 640MB/s and this drive is 240MB/s, which is excellent for a single HDD (non-SSD, non-RAID) as most similar drives work in the 180-220MB/s range. Also please keep in mind that with any hard drive, the drive itself is usually the limiting factor in transfer speed. Meaning any single drive is typically not capable of reading/writing data at anywhere near the published max speed that the interface is "capable" of. You have to get into an SSD or multi-drive RAID setup to start really utilizing what today's faster interfaces like USB 3.0 and 3.1 are capable of.

Answer:	A USB-C hard drive is compatible with Thunderbolt 3 ports on a Mac, so this will work. Also works of course with USB-C ports, and older USB 3.0 ports using supplied cable.
Question:	Can i use this to retrieve old mac os.10.11.3 by time machine? my present os is catalina. this product says it needs 10.12. thank you
Answer:	USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 share the same physical connection type (USB-C). USB-C devices can be connected to Thunderbolt 3 ports, as TB3 supports USB-C devices. However, TB3 drives cannot be connected to USB-C ports on computer. So, this USB-C drive will connect to USB-C ports, Thunderbolt 3 ports, or using included cable, USB 3.0/2.0 ports.

Answer:	The thunderbolt cable is attached. It can wrap around the side of the drive and be stowed away neatly. The USB cable plugs into a separate port and is not permanently attached.
Question:	Is this drive 7200 rpm
Answer:	I have one at work that has both pc (USB) and mac hook ups. My one from home is only USB, but both still connect to my work pc new mac at home. I just wish they synced automatically like the Targus one I had years ago.
Question:	Is this drive slow for anyone else? i'm only getting 35mb/s writes when copying from a very fast raid
Answer:	This drive is USB powered. The drive is awesome and works very well.
Question:	I have MacBook Pro early 2011- will this drive work with my computer
Answer:	The hard drive is hard metal. The orange plastic edge is a rubbery consistency. Not hard plastic, but not soft enough to be squishy either.

Question:	When I turn this drive left of right it’s makes this mid pitch humming noise that kind of sounds like a light saber swing from Star Wars
Answer:	Yes. But time but it will need to be wiped clean and run through disk utility. Make sure you have enough space on the hard drive, or time machine won’t work.
Question:	Can this be used for a back up to my galaxy note 10+5g to back up photos ? also what's the size and format spend
Answer:	The built-in cable is Thunderbolt, also compatible with Thunderbolt 2 ports. It makes no difference in speed which connection you use, either will max out the available drive speed as will USB-C or USB 3.0 for that matter. Same speed for any connection on this drive really (except USB 2.0 would be slower)
Question:	Will this work with PS
Answer:	This is a formatting issue, easily resolved. I believe LaCie does have a small FAT 32 partition that typically contains formatting utilities for both Mac and PC. Is so, please run the "Lacie_Setup" file to format if you see it. Or format manually - in Windows, use DISK MANAGEMENT tool and format using default NTFS file system. Formatting instructions for Windows and Mac: https://www.lacie.com/manuals/rugged/usbc/optional-formatting-partitioning/ On Mac, there is an issue with High Sierra in which drive size can be misreported. From LaCie: It has come to my attention that Mac OS High Sierra has a new Disk Utility that is slightly different than the one before it and it is confusing end users on how to format a drive. The end users keep thinking their hard drive has only a 400MB or 250GB of volume and then returning the drives when there is nothing wrong with them. Issues: • Drive displays wrong capacity ~ 350 - 450 MB o That’s because Disk Utility (DU) is set to“Show Only Volume” so it’s listing the LSA volume, not the drive itself. • The drive fails to format o Users may be trying to format the LaCie Setup volume in DU. o LSA failed to format the drive, so DU displays a grayed out volume
