Answer:	The USB Forum is confusing as hell. Are you ready? Okay: USB 3.0 is SuperSpeed, which would make it too easy to determine which USB is which, so of course they don't use that name. So it's called 3.0, except now it's not. 3.0 and 3.1 gen 1 are the same thing, same speed and all (5gbps). Then you have USB 3.1 gen 2. It's a genuine upgrade over gen 1 speed, but PSYCH! Name swap again! Now 3.1 is 3.2 gen 1, and 3.2 gen 2, and now there is a new one called 3.2 gen 2 by 2! It's maddening! Anyway, in summary, yes this drive is USB 3.0, or 3.1 gen 1, or 3.2 gen 1, whichever you wanna call it.

Answer:	I bought a My Book 8TB several years ago, and I bought the Elements 8TB about a week ago. I love the Elements drive, in my experience it is much better than either the My Book or the Seagate 8TB which I also own. The Elements drive is nearly silent and I got a solid 100MBps sustained write speed, which none of the other drives match. The Seagate is very slow.

Answer:	I had this hard drive for awhile as a spare backup drive in my PC. I plugged it into the front port of my PS4 and instantly gained 4TB of space. It requires no extra power source, the PS4 will format it and you can play games on it just the same as installing to your HDD inside the PS4. I don't notice any speed issues on my PRO, it runs the same speed. It's perfect to stop you from having to shuffle games off and on the limited 1TB in the system.

Answer:	Depends on format, sampling, bitrate. I've got 818 songs at standard 44 KHz and 128 kbps totaling 3144 minutes and 2.81 GB which comes out to 0.89 MB/minute. I've also got 430 songs at 192 kbps totaling 1595 minutes and 2.13 GB which is 1.34 MB/minute (which is also what you get ratioing 0.89 by 192 / 128 so the numbers jibe). If your songs are typical 128 kbps stereo quality, and average 4 minutes each, then (using the 0.89 MB/minute figure) each TB will hold roughly: 1,000,000 MB / 0.89 MB/min / 60 min/hr = about 18,700 hours ==> over EIGHTEEN THOUSAND HOURS OF MP3 FOR JUST ONE (1) TB. Even if all your songs are 24-bit 44 KHz WAV originals at 15 MB/minute, you'd still be able to store: 0.89/15 x 18,000 = over 1,000 hours of WAV for each TB. Suffice to say if you're saving only MP3s you probably won't run out of space, as the others have stated.

The first time you plug it in though for maybe 35 seconds it will install drivers so that you can use it but after that for consecutive uses it will take your computer maybe 20-25 seconds to recognize the external hard drive depending on how powerful your computer is I guess.

Answer:	As long as you do not format the drive many times and delete files a bunch of time. Also the RPM use of the disk will deteriorate the platter so when your done putting files to store disconnect the drive and put it away..Hard drives are rated for life span by RPM use. so format the drive once if you need to then copy all your files you wish to store and disconnect and store the drive..I hope this helps.

Answer:	Standard computer specs. A USB 3.0 drive is backwards compatible with a USB 2.0 port, but you must use the USB 3.0 rated cable.

Answer:	The primary difference between the two is that the a80 is a little more durable in design and the ability to take abuse. The Military 810F rating indicates greater durability under harsher conditions vs. the 810G. This refers to testing against extreme pressures, temperatures, humidity, collision, etc. Additionally, the a80 is touted as "waterproof". If you work in rainy climates or near water, the waterproof option may work better for you. Aside from that, both hard drives offer the same capacity and USB 3.0/2.0 standards. and the same, simple USB to USB connecting cable, which doubles well as a transfer cable for migrating information between PC's. Answer:	I’ve done this with about 30+ 2tb, 4tb, and 8tb drives over the years- converting an external to an internal- and they are all still running fine to this day. Usually $30-40 cheaper than the internal and you get a free usb cable to boot. Just make sure you don’t hurt your hands while doing it. Twisting a flathead screw driver in the seams seemed like the way to go if I recall. They don’t make the cases easy to open. For someone below: Don’t use these for RAID. NAS rated drives are different because they handle higher heat, able to run 24/7 with cross checks, etc. read more about what makes the iron version a NAS approved drive compared to the standard barracuda.

Answer:	Just reformatted the external hard drive using Disk Utility. Works for Mac :) Im not a tech savvy person, so I found this website to be useful when selecting what option to select when erasing the hard drive. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4276140?start=0&tstart=0I chose to use Journaled as I am using this for a Time Machine back up, like Matthew Chellew suggests in the first answer.

Answer:	Like a charm, exactly what I purchased it for. Plug into any of the three ports (all 3 of the original XBox One ports are 3.0) and give it a minute. The XBox will recognize it and you have to choose for storage or media. Choose storage for games and you are up and running. Do be aware that this HDD does require its own power supply. I was transferring games within 5 minutes. FWIW within half an hour there was a power outage in the middle of a transfer and the external drive, the XBox One and the data are were ok when power came back on. If a data transfer is interrupted for any reason simply delete the failed portion on the destination drive and start the process over.

Sold only in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific with a 1-year, 2-year, or 3-year warranty, respectively.The STEB is the replacement "Expansion" model for the above with a more interesting texture and feet on one edge to stand vertically. It is sold in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific with a 1-year, 2-year, or 3-year warranty, respectively.The STDT is the "Backup Plus" model that looks like the STBV except with no sloped front and comes with backup software (on the disk) for both Windows and Mac OS, and includes 200GB of cloud storage with OneDrive for 2 years. It is sold in North America only with a 2-year warranty.The STDT comes in capacities of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8TB. The STEB and STBV go up to 5TB.They all use the same SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface.
