Answer:	I just received this plant but I think I can answer your question. It appears to me that the brown "dried" growth of the stalk cannot be peeled off, at least not without some degree of difficulty. They seem to be glued on. However, there are loose taller sections that could be trimmed off to reduce the amount of brown areas. I should add I used to have the real version of this plant years ago and in its natural state there are always dry pieces left over from old leaf growth so the dried areas on this plant only lends itself to more authenticity. If you placed it in a tall pot much of the dried areas would be hidden but not all .
