Question: | Im wondering if there any Raspberry Pi touch screen display comes with a case |
Answer: | This item? No. The touchscreen comes with the items shown in the product description and picture. It has a wide range of applications that may or may not need a display case. Those using this for a small Arcade Cabinet wouldn't need a case included. There are display cases available on Amazon. Might I recommend the SmartiPi Touch 2 case. It has a stand that can be adjusted to an angle you like and also houses the Raspberry Pi in one case. I have the previous version and it worked well for a miniature desktop and retro gaming device. It also has screw holes in the base should you want to secure it to a table or even a wall. https://www.amazon.com/SmartiPi-Touch-Official-Raspberry-Touchscreen/dp/B07WXK38YM/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=raspberry+pi+touchscreen+case&qid=1608814174&sr=8-3 |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it work with the raspberry pi 3 model b |
Answer: | The short answer is no. The display is SPI but an I2c module is attached and connected through header pins which you would have to remove drive via SPI. |
Question: | it works like a monitor |
Answer: | I found mine to be 0x27 |
Question: | can i power it with a usb battery pack? basically, i want to connect it to my DSLR as an ext monitor |
Answer: | I measured about 44-45 mA with a DMM in the display Vcc line. However, it is a digital load that may fluctuate faster than the DMM can read it. It doesn't seem very power hungry. A set of 8 old 2200 mAh niMH batteries runs this display, an Arduino UNO, a DS3231 RTC, and a PMS5003 AQI sensor for a long time. I don't know how long, but more than I need at one time! In a few weeks of use, I have found absolutely nothing to dislike about this display, and much to like, especially how well it works! Just be sure to use the PCF8574.h library. I tried other libraries with frustrating results. |
Question: | Will this display hdmi input without any raspi/usb connection? can i use this as a simple hdmi monitor without touch |
Answer: | This device will work with Arduino but it has an I2C interface so you don't use the LiquidCrystal library. You have to use something like the LiquidCrystal_PCF8574 library. There are several other libraries that support LCD displays with I2C interfaces but the one I have used is the above and it works fine. |

Product description
Introduction
LCD2004 display is a dot matrix module designed to display 20 characters including letter, number, and symbol, supporting 4-bit and 8-bit data transmission mode. It’s quite convenient for beginners to call the built-in library Liquid Crystal of for Arduino IDE, no need to edit yourself.
Working voltage: 5V; Contrast adjustable with a 50K potentiometer onside. To use the 3.3V backlight, just connect pin A to 3.3V, pin K to GND.
Note: Solder the pin headers on it before using.
Pins’ Function
VSS: Connected to ground
VDD: Connected to a +5V power supply
VO: To adjust the contrast
RS: A register select pin that controls where in the LCD’s memory you are writing data to. You can select either the data register, which holds what goes on the screen, or an instruction register, which is where the LCD’s controller looks for instructions on what to do next.
R/W: A Read/Write pin to select between reading and writing mode
E: An enabling pin that, when low-level energy is supplied, causes the LDC module to execute relevant instructions.
D0-D7: To read and write data
A and K: Pins that control the LCD backlight

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i use this with an stm32f4 type microcontroller |
Answer: | As long as there is an I2C interface port on the STM32F4, there should be no issues. |
Question: | Do these come with an I2C backpack? I just ordered some of these and they came with no backpack in the package |
Answer: | There are several product options on the page, some have I2C, some don't. If you chose one that has I2C, it should come with an I2C backpack. |
Question: | Has anyone run this display on 3.3 volts successfully? I'd like to use it on an 8266-12E to display the ip address |
Answer: | It works on 3.3V, but just barely: it's unusably dim. I changed the supply voltage to 5V and was able to successfully drive it with 3.3V-level I2C signals, although the PCF8574 data sheet says that the minimum Vih level is 0.7 * Vcc = 3.5V. My scope says that the signals are rising to about 3.8V, so there must be some kind of pull-up to 5V on the I2C backpack board. I don't want to rely on that, so for my final design I'll use a PCA9306 I2C level shifter. |
Question: | It it possible to change the address of the lcd to have multiple lcd on the same bus |
Answer: | To further expand on Wes' answer (which is excellent!), you can have up to eight (8) on the same bus, per the chip datasheets. The chips have a portion of the address hard-code (which cannot be changed) and the three remaining address lines (A0, A1, and A2) can be jumpered to ground to set seven (7) other addresses - the 8th being no jumpers. IF you happen to get one with an 8574 chip and another with 8574A or 8574T, then you could potentially have up to 16 modules on the same bus as the A and T versions use a different hard-coded address than the 8574. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I want to use it as a secondary screen on my pc. will this shut down when hdmi has "no signal" or will it show constant blue screen with "no signal |
Answer: | Depends on how you power the display. I have it as a hardware monitor inside the case. I have it power via a usb cable that goes from a motherboard header that terminates into a micro usb connector. The motherboard header doesn't supply power if the pc is off so no blue screen. The usb ports on the rear I/O always have power so there would be a no signal screen |
Question: | What are the actual dimensions of the viewing surface |
Answer: | Length is 4in height is 2 1/4 inches |
Question: | my pc case has a spot to mount a 2.5" SSD |
Answer: | If your looking for a quick and easy mount, then NO, the screw holes won't match, so you would have to rig something up (drill holes, or make a mounting board). PLUS, the screen would be roughly twice the thickness (depth) of a standard 2.5" drive. Not sure what you are trying to achieve, since a drive would mount laying down in the case (most of the time) and obstruct your view. |

User questions & answers
Question: | can I get the document to build this screen and case |
Answer: | Hi here is the tutorial link: http://www.lcdwiki.com/7inch_HDMI_Display-C Any question please let us know, we are always happy to help. Thank you! [email protected] |
Question: | Is the protective case assembled already |
Answer: | No, you have to assemble it yourself. We ran into issues with the screen not being square on the PCB and so the front and screw holes on the protective case do not line up with the board. Since the screen is attached to the board with double-sided foam adhesive, I think we will be able to adjust it to fit, but I need an extra set of hands to do that. |
Question: | Do you have to attach the raspberry pi 4 to the screen? Can I just use the screen like a mini desktop monitor with my raspberry pi as a mini desktop c |
Answer: | Hi thanks for your question. It can be powered by an external DC5V adapter. It does not need to be powered by the Raspberry Pi's USB. It can be used as a display alone, so that it can't be touched, and the touch data can be transmitted simultaneously through the Raspberry Pi USB power supply. This will enable the touch function. For more question please feel free to contact us through email [email protected]. Thank you! |
Question: | What connections does this screen use for the touch screen? usb,spi |
Answer: | usb |
