Product description
Description:
As we know, the CD1602 is an industrial character LCD that can display 16x02 or 32 characters at the same time.
The principle of the LCD1602 liquid crystal display is to use the physical characteristics of the liquid crystal to control the display area by voltage, that is, the graphic can be displayed.
In general, the 1602 uses a standard 16-pin interface, and our display module is a module that provides I2C functionality.
I²C uses only two bidirectional open-drain lines, Serial Data Line (SDA) and Serial Clock Line (SCL), pulled up with resistors. Typical voltages used are +5 V or +3.3 V although systems with other voltages are permitted.
It can be operated as long as it supports the I2C development board. For example, the common Arduino, raspberry pi, Stm32 and so on.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i use this with an stm32f4 type microcontroller |
Answer: | I downloaded the JBL Connect app yesterday and walked through the tutorial. For JBL Connector to work you need to press the Connect button on each speaker to pair them. There is no Connect button on the JBL Horizon. I would guess the answer to your question is no. Also I unfortunately don't have another JBL Connect product that could pair so I can't be certain. |
Question: | Do these come with an I2C backpack? I just ordered some of these and they came with no backpack in the package |
Answer: | Yes, it has 2 settings: Weekday and Weekend. This is by far the coolest alarm clock on the market! We have 4 now! The white is especially nice... |
Question: | Has anyone run this display on 3.3 volts successfully? I'd like to use it on an 8266-12E to display the ip address |
Answer: | The instructions say to snooze the alarm with the snooze button and shut off the alarm with the smaller button behind the snooze button. When I set the alarm to go off with the radio , I could snooze the alarm but I couldn't shut off the alarm as they've instructed. I had to return it. Everything else worked fine except for shutting off the alarm when it was set to the radio. |
Question: | It it possible to change the address of the lcd to have multiple lcd on the same bus |
Answer: | Mine has the same problem 76-90MHz. This is the FM broadcast band for Japan so I am guessing the clocks has mistakenly received Japanese firmware. I will returning it with the hope my replacement is ok. |

Introduction:
LCD1602 is an industrial character type LCD that can show 16*2, i.e. 32 characters. The character generator ROM in the LCD module has already stored 160 different characters in dot matrix, including Arabic numbers, letters in low and upper case, and common symbols.
In Arduino IDE, a built-in library LiquidCrystal can be called directly, and you don't need to write it, which is pretty convenient for beginners.
Its working voltage is 5V, and you can adjust the contrast via the 50K potentiometer. For the backlight, just connect pin A to 3.3V and K to GND, and then it will light up.
Features:
LCD display module with blue backlight

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you run this and an rtc which is also i2c at the same time |
Answer: | Yes it is WiFi enabled |
Question: | what voltage does it operate on |
Answer: | I would say no to be honest. I do not think that this specific it is good for anyone to start learning how to code computer software. The reason I say that is because this is a very specific kit. The SD card comes preloaded with raspian and retropie already flashed on to it. This specific kid is specifically meant to be an emulation station which just softens to be the name of the software that comes with it as well. I would recommend buying a standard raspberry pi b 3+ If you want to teach or learn coding and buying all the components that go along with the project that you want to use this with. |
Question: | Is this one really white text on a blue background |
Answer: | Including game ROMs with this raspberry pi kit would be considered piracy and copyright infringement. So the answer is that no it does not come with any games at all. How are you get your games and the source that you get them from is completely up to the individual. |

User questions & answers
Question: | is the I2C address setable to 4E |
Answer: | I know this is an old question, but REALLY, clearly states set of (2) not (2) set or complete sets, an individual component speaker is made up of a woofer, a tweeter, and a crossover, which together counts as one speaker, and in some rare cases their may be a 3 way crossover with a midrange included, still the group is counted as (1) speaker and normally there sold in pairs, like the majority of car speakers, so you get that set up for your left channel/side of vehicle and one for your right channel/side of vehicle, a component set-up is what you normally see in quality home audio systems, and paired with one or more subwoofers is the best way to obtain high quality sound in your car/truck/suv/rv/boat. |
Question: | I do not see the spec, should vcc be 5 vdc or 3.3 vdc to power this device |
Answer: | Theres flat mounting and 45 degree angled tweeter mounts included |
Question: | I am trying to get this to work with a teensy 4.1. the teensy does not recognize it at all. i have not tried with a nano (yet). any cues |
Answer: | It has HD FM Radio and AM radio. It does not have satellite. However, you can connect your phone directly and play any app from your phone directly to the system. |

User questions & answers
Question: | The description says ili9481 but the specs say hx8357c. what will i receive if ordered |
Answer: | No. The HiLetgo website has the same product information as the text here at Amazon. This isn't good because some features of these displays do vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. This is very irritating because we need to know things like whether a resistor is included on the LED power line or not and how much power it draws. Yes, you could use some other manufacturer's information but then you are forced to assume that this one is the same. Thumbs down to HiLetgo for this. |
Question: | This board doesn't seem to have the rdx signal to allow a register read. is there any way to put it into sleep or deep standby without the rdx pin |
Answer: | Yes, here is a link to the specs: https://www.openhacks.com/uploadsproductos/eone-1602a1.pdf Section 4 has the dimensions in millimeters. Cheers, Mike |
Question: | How do I connect other sensors/buttons to the Mega if this shield covers the entire Mega board |
Answer: | You need something to drive it like an Arduino uno. then you just program it. |
Question: | Does anyone have suggestions how to connect other things to the Arduino Mega 2560 when this display sheild? is attached |
Answer: | It appears the libraries are already installed in the IDE. I used LCD.h and LiquidCrystal_I2C.h with an address of 0x27 |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where can I get a ribbon cable for this? I know Mouser/Digikey, or pick the distributor, but I am having a helluva time spec'ing the exact cable |
Answer: | The kit includes what is pictures which is more than what is listed. Be prepared though to look up part numbers as the packing list is only in Chinese. So far everything I have tried has worked most in importantly the Uno. |
Question: | Will this work with a Raspberry Pi |
Answer: | This kit is good for a person who wants to learn about small board computers and Linux. It is not ready to use unless you already have: 1. Monitor for digital signal video and a male HDMI connector cable. 2. Knowledge about how to use Linux at least enough to get it configured to boot and present a display on a monitor. This will likely require access to a working device with Internet browsing for instructions. 3. Interest in figuring out technical things made by others. This device isn’t suitable for someone who wants to learn how to build a kit from components ... it’s already built except for unboxing and assembly of several pieces such as power supply and memory chip. Read about this kit a lot before selecting this model Raspberry Pi. Video cable correctness is a challenge because this kit only has HDMI video output. |
Question: | manufactuers web site |
Answer: | You'll need the below stuff. 1. A display with HDMI cable. 2. A game controller. 3. A memory card (this supplied memory card cannot be overwritten with Retro Pi) If you don't want to buy a memory card, then you should install retro pi on raspbian OS (A little difficult but there's enough documentation) |
Question: | Anyone know the current draw with the backlight on? It seems others are managing to run it through the arduino power supply |
Answer: | Maybe. A complete beginner might no know enough to know what else this kit needs to make it function. A complete beginner might not have a keyboard with USB connector .... a digital ready monitor (or some TVs) with HDMI cable. A book about this device would be useful for a complete beginner. |

Question: | I can't get this to work and haven't found a library. i have the 2560. where can i find the library's? thanks |
Answer: | I would definitely recommend the Arduino starter set if he is new to circuits and programming, as this kit has no instructions or examples (and is quite light on data sheets as well). This product is a good addition to that kit once he masters it. |
Question: | Does this work with Teensy? I have a Teensy 3.2 and I cannot make it work. I have it wired correctly and the I2C finder cannot find the address |
Answer: | Works great |
Question: | What library does this use |
Answer: | This kit does not include any manual or project guide. A list of parts in the kit is included, but it is not in english. |
