Answer:	You will need to flash, I recommend at max bios version 2.3 as the later versions peg one of the chassis fan headers at 12 volts and you cannot get it to step down through bios or software.

Answer:	you can't use DDR3 RAM on any modern CPU, this board is compatible with the 1700x although since that CPU is on the x370 chipset and this board is a b350 chipset you will not have all of the extra features of ryzen 7 CPU's. you will have the power of ryzen 7 but you are basically using a ryzen 5 chipset so your PCI-E lanes are limited and you don't get USB 3.1... although it isn't that big of a deal since 3.1 is still pretty new and nothing uses it. and the PCI-E lanes is enough for 1 GPU but you can\t do an SLI on this chipset.

Answer:	Had the Revision 1.0 of this same board, the VRM is heatsinked (good, LE is not), and it is quite reliable and solid. You will get a higher OC on your FX chip with a 990FX board, but if you're not going to be OC'ing beyond 4.2~4.4ghz (chip-dependant), you don't need to pay more for features you won't use. This board will Crossfire if you need it, though I'd caution against ever doing so unless your game titles you play ALL support it. This chipset is cooled enough by the lower squarish heatsink, and the ports are all easy to get to. Stick to Asus, as all the boards 50$ and up are all-digital VRM's, less heat and more reliability than analog VRM's like are found on MSI's, ECS, Biostar, and some Gigabyte board. Asus also comes with built-in surge resistance and a number of shut-it-down-before-it-explodes safety features. I have an OEM version of the Rev. 1.0 board for about 3 years now with the last year barely getting use but it's stable and has all the features most people would ever need. If you need better board level features or more overclocking, go with an Asus 990FX board, or switch over to an Intel Haswell/Devil's Canyon/Broadwell w/DDR3 (or newer Skylake, not interchangeably though, different socket & uses DDR4 RAM). AMD FX will run most games just fine, if you want the best of the best and money is not a matter, go intel, if budget is a thing, stick with AMD. If it's just email, web browsing, and occasional light gaming, AMD is your best bet. A 6-core 6xxx series FX chip will be fine, a 6300 or 8370E chip will work beautifully as they're 90~95 watts (less heat, more OC room if needed too). A hyper 212 evo cooler also mounts nicely with this board - mount your ram and cpu 1st, apply thermal paste to cpu top, then mount the cooler, then mount the board carefully into a case. You can also do dual channel with 2, 4, or even 3 sticks of RAM on this board, too (2x2gb in one bank, one 4gb stick on another bank, of equal voltage and timing/mhz speed) if you upgrade that way. Very good with RAM compatibility also, I must say. Most all Kingston, Corsair, Crucial ram works right out of the box here and it supports 32gb MAX (8gb sticks DDR3 supported). 1866mhz max on 2 sticks; 3 or 4 sticks 1600mhz max.Skip buying the LE version as it omits certain heatsinks on the VRM (near the CPU) that lengthen the ability of the system to survive under warm conditions for longer. I hope this helps someone, sorry if it's a bit disorganized.If you don't mind the noise of the cpu-fan that's included with the cpu, or it comes with the new WRAITH or other improved OEM AMD cooler, then you don't have to buy the Hyper-212 Evo or similar cpu-cooler. My retired mother heard that OEM-included AMD fan the second I put it in - that won't do, so I re-used another fan to quiet it down for her. SERIOUSLY, THEY'RE LOUD. It's not the motherboard, it's the AMD fan for the processor. Just be warned and save 30~35$ for a good cooler if needed :)

Answer:	Yes, perfectly. Been running the FX-8320 in this mb for morre than 2 years. It does use more powwr than a similar benchmarked Quad i5 (2500K). About 10 watts more on average. So if you plan on using it in a Media Center PC or something running all the time you'll pay a bit more in electricity. However the upfront cost savings on the AMD was $50 less than the i5 at the time. There might be a largr delta in price now, the i5's seem to have gotten more expensive. There is also a FX-8320E which is less expensive and sips a lttile less power because of it's lower base frequency. It turbo boosts to the same peak frequency though, so probably the same performance.

Although if you are going to buy a more expensive graphics card such as a gtx 970 I would advise getting a motherboard with more system fan options. This mothetboard is a max of 2 fans which doesnt cool higher graphics card well.

Answer:	yes it is overkill but it's a great board. since u are doing video editing u would need a powerful graphics card. i would recommend an asus m5a97 because it has most of the same features as this board and would serve u well. the only real difference is overclocking capability and the ability to have multiple graphics cards which nobody really needsl. if u pair this with a fx 6300, a corsair cx 500 or 600 watt power supply and a rosewill challenger u3 case you would have an excellent gaming/video editing build. gaming and video editing require the same hardware setup for the most part. then just get the best graphics card to suit your needs. also a word of advice DO NOT cheap out on ram. get something from corsair or gskill or another top tier brand. avoid crucial and team. get 1600mhz or 1866 ram it does not cost much more and it's worth it. hope this helps you. good luck

When you shop specify the Processor you want to utilize en-coupled with the word 'Motherboards'. Amazon has everything you need and more. The motherboard you specified is excellent but should be used with either AMD Phenom or AMD FX CPU's up to the FX8350 8-Core CPU's. There are faster FX CPU's but they require an ASROCK 990FX Extreme 9 version-3 Motherboard to work with the higher 220W processors.
