Answer:	This adapts from RCA connectors to HDMI. If your VHS player has RCA connectors on it it should work. It does require AC power though.

Answer:	Yes, the software will give you an option for a destination for the captured videos. Just make sure that the drive is hooked up when you run the software and select that drive as a destination. Depending on the speed of the connection (USB/FireWire/Thunderbolt), it may take from a little to a lot longer than to do it to your local HD. If that turns out to be very slow, and you want to do a lot of converting at one time, another option is just to save one video to your Mac's drive, and then move it to the external HD while you're converting the next movie.

Answer:	If you use VirtualDub you can output your video in different formats. I output to raw AVI so I can cut my video into smaller segments in Adobe Premiere without sacrificing quality. VHS quality is already so poor, I don't want to lose any of it by re-encoding mp4/h264 files.

Answer:	Absolutely does NOT WORK on the new Thunderbolt 3 ports (USB-C). The feed appears jittery, despite looking fine on the TV. I have tried two different Elgato devices, 3 different USB 3.0 to USB-C adapters (including Apple) and a brand new MacBook Air specifically for this project. I have trouble shot every aspect and video is distorted and jumpy, probably due to data transfer feeds from a USB 2.0 device coming into Thunderbolt ports.

Question:	Do you have to play the movie as it converts? does it take convert in high speed or does it take the full movie length time
Answer:	To answer your first question: Yes you have to play the movie as it converts otherwise if you fast forward it it might record you fast forwarding it. Unfortunately there's no work around on that. To answer your second question, no it doesn't convert in high speed unless you have a Solid State Drive and have 16 GB RAM or more then it might, but that's just an educated guess. Otherwise it depends on the length of the tape. The longest I had to record was 2 hours and 28 minutes. The shortest I had to record was 5 minutes. Also it depends on well taken care of and clean the tape is, I noticed the first time I did a tape it kept destabilizing after cleaning the tape it stabilized perfectly the conversion was very smooth.

Answer:	I had to work with the Corel help desk for over 10 days to get mine to work on Windows 10. The software disk that came with it was labeled Windows 7 and 8 and Copyrighted 2013 (before Windows 10 was released). The help desk eventually sent me to a link where I could download a new version of Pinnacle Studio for Dazzle which was Copyrighted 2020. Maybe I just got a box that has been sitting on the shelves for years?

Steps for Recording:

*After you turned this device on. Pressing the "REC" button on the converter to record. You also can watch it directly on screen after recorded with play button.(No pc or software is required)

*Transfer your digitalized videos to your computer with the included USB cable. Then put them on your PC, phone, or burn to DVD. You can digitize it with software if you need.



Playback:

1, Turn on your video garbber

2,use the mode button to select the play mode. Your video grabber is now in play mode.

3,select the desired film using the forward or buttons.

4,Press ok to play the films. You can zoom in and out on snapshots in several steps by pressing the OK or VOL+ botton Pressing the VOL- button will zoom back and ultimately data about the image file are shown.



If you don't want the date show on your recorded video. Just press the On/Off Menu button briefly once more to gain access to the time stamp setting before recording and then choose off. The date number will gone in your recorded video.

Question:	The software requires a product key not included in the package- advise
Answer:	As I remember, it was printed on back of the CD package. This is a mini CD so maybe you did not see it. Also, I see there was another answer saying the output quality was low. I do not find that to be the case. I play my converted 8mm videos on a 55" screen and I think they look as good as the original tapes.

Answer:	Yes this is why I bought this item. I had a VHS tape that someone wanted put on a DVD. This plugs into USB, you connect the VCR and record the video to your computer. All the software you need comes with the device.

Answer:	No. The USB on this device is designed to draw power from a PC/allow for simple connectivity. The RCA are INPUT ONLY. This is designed to capture audio/video from devices such as VCRs, and older video game consoles.

Answer:	Sure -- you play your old video tapes on a VHS player (with either red/white/yellow or S-Video output connector) and capture them as digital files (such as MPG format) on any computer with a USB port. For me, it worked like a champ. . .

Answer:	Under "system requirements" in the book that comes with it, it just says Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10. There is no mention if it works or doesn't work with Mac.
Question:	So, can you take an input for a console from it? To record video
Answer:	I've done this with numerous devices and it works fine (as long as if the connectors fit of coarse). Only problem would be framerate and resolution. I believe framerate is locked in at 30 fps and resolution has 3 options: 720*480 352*480 352*240. This is great if you're playing on an older console like the ps1 or even ps2 (keep in mind that you're working with a 4:3 aspect ratio). Video editing can fix this issue though. Also, did notice video/audio sync issues with the 720*480 resolution option. Fortunately, the sync issue was consistant so video editing allowed me to fix that. FINAL VERDICT: If you are looking for hd 60fps video recording, this is not the device for you. However, if you're looking for the cheapest way to capture decent gameplay footage, this device should do the trick. Hope this was helpful. (Also, if you can tell me the exact console you are wanting to capture with this, I might be able to confirm that it works)

Question:	Have a mac with catalina 10.15.4 the disc will not load, says not compatible. software from the website will not open. any suggestions
Answer:	I'm using Mojave (10.14.6). No problems. You don't need to download any drivers or software. By plugging the device into your USB port, it loads its own drivers. Then, with your input ready to go, you open Quicktime, do a "New Movie Recording" and then on the little dropdown next to the record button within the quicktime window, select "AV TO USB 2.0" for the Camera and "USB 2.0 MIC" for Audio. Hit record and roll the tape (or whatever).
Question:	Installed drivers, then software, then device. in showbiz capture...no device shows up. what should i do
Answer:	make sure cable connections are tight. Try to change the connections to the plugins to front or viceversa. Click play before capturing

Answer:	I purchased this last month and am able to convert using a free program found online called: MASSTER AVCAP (2 S's in master is correct) from a company called Masster Electronicss Co. Good luck.
Question:	Will this work with Windows
Answer:	I have been unable to get this to work on Windows 10. I was able to get it to work on Windows 7, but not my preferred computer. Moreover, I have been unable to remove ArcSoft ShowBiz software from my Windows 10 computer. The normal windows process for uninstalling an app did not work, even in safe mode. I see no uninstaller with the software (which is quite old), so I don't know what I'm going to do.
