Answer:	The heat sinks are sized incorrectly. I don’t believe they will work anywhere near the current capacity of the thermoelectric element included. Unfortunately, at full current, this system produces more heat than it can transfer. I ended up buying my own MUCH larger heat sinks.

Answer:	I haven't done the experiment personally, but my understanding is they are not combustible. Ceramic is definitely not, and the semiconductor material in the middle is basically silicon (glass), also non-flammable. So I'm fairly confident they won't blow up if something slams into them. But because the white plates are ceramic (think coffee mug, but with 2mm thick walls), they will shatter if hit by something hard. Generally in commercial products these modules are sandwiched between two aluminum heat sinks, and then potted (dunked in an epoxy-glue compound) to protect them from damage. As for how cold they get, they don't actually create coldness. What they do is push heat from one plate (one side) to the other. So if you remove the heat from the hot side (for example with a fan, or by dunking in water), the cold side where the heat is coming from will get colder and colder, until the system reaches equilibrium. For this reason, they are rated by their temperature differential, rather than absolute temperature. There are two limits to this equilibrium: First, some of the heat leaks backwards from the hot side to the cold side, both through the device itself and around the edges (through conduction and convection). The entire module stack (hot side ceramic plate, semiconductor layer, cold side ceramic plate) is only about 5mm thick, so it's difficult to make one side super cold and the other side super hot when they are so close together. The second limit is related to the power dissipation of the module itself. As you pump more current through it, to create a larger thermal differential, the module self-heating increases. The hot side has to extract both the heat coming from the cold side, plus all the self-generated heat. You can find data sheets online for the exact details, but in typical applications you can expect to achieve differentials of about 20-40 degrees, depending on how much current (500mA to 2A) you pump through the device. For more temperature differential (a colder cold side, for a fixed hot side temperature), the traditional solution is to stack several modules in series; there are commercial products available that are sold in stacks of three.

Answer:	These aren't diodes, and they're not used to drive fans. They're thermal electric heat exchangers, can be used to cool or heat something. Technically, I think you may be thinking these can be used as a thermal electric generator (TEG), while the principles are the same, the engineering parameters required for optimal cooling/heating is generally different than for generators. However, even with that said, a TEG works off of temperature differentials to extract the energy from a system (if the entire world is at 9,000,000 degrees Celsius, no energy can be extracted), as such the energy you can expect from the output is entirely dependent on your application and whether or not you can maintain this differential between the hot side and cold side, keeping in mind TEG's are still fairly inefficient (relatively speaking).

Answer:	No way. I'm an adult male and it's huge on me.
Question:	I am a big lad - xl or xxl - will this fit comfortably
Answer:	I have a 7-5/8 head (hat size) which is between XL and XXL. It fits comfortably and I am happy with the comfort. However, one of the features that is described is that it can also function as a "neck gator” (pulled down around the neck when not needed on the face). Don’t expect this function to work with an XL to XXL head, as the face hole barely stretches enough to allow it to fit over that size head.
Question:	How breathable is it
Answer:	In my experience with this type of equipment , this balaclava is very good. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being no restriction to airways at all, this would rate an 8. That being said, any physical device covering nostrils and mouth will be somewhat of a hindrance to breathing and air exchange. My wife and I each use one and are very happy with them. We use them almost daily. The trade off is that we would rather dodge frost bite on our noses and chins than have perfect breathability.
Question:	It doesn't have to be waterproof just want to make sure it will hold in the warmth when wet, cotton zaps your warmth, wool will hold it in even wet
Answer:	I believe it will hold in warmth when wet. I've warm it in a light drizzle and my head wasn't wet. It is a thinner stretch moisture wicking material. Thick enough to keep your head warm but definitely not bulky. I love it.

Answer:	I really don't know if this would be sufficient. Whatever you use will need a thermostat to control the heat. When I was a kid, we used a tank of water with an aquarium heater. Thermostat is built in. Downside is that is takes a long time for it to heat up and stabilize.
