3 best fan with heatsinks
Fans with heatsinks, often referred to as "heatsink fans" or "cooling fans with heatsinks," are computer components used to dissipate heat generated by internal components, such as CPUs (Central Processing Units) or GPUs (Graphics Processing Units). These fans are crucial for maintaining optimal operating temperatures and preventing overheating in computers. Here's what you need to know about them:
Function:
- Heat Dissipation: The primary function of fans with heatsinks is to dissipate heat generated by electronic components. They do this by blowing air over the heatsink, which is a metal or aluminum structure with fins designed to increase the surface area for efficient heat transfer.
Applications:
CPU Cooling: Heatsink fans are commonly used to cool CPUs in desktop computers. They are often mounted directly onto the CPU or attached to the CPU socket on the motherboard.
GPU Cooling: Graphics cards (GPUs) also use heatsink fans to dissipate heat generated during graphics-intensive tasks, such as gaming or rendering.
Case Fans: In addition to CPU and GPU cooling, fans with heatsinks can be used as case fans to improve overall airflow within the computer case, helping to maintain lower ambient temperatures.
Types:
Air Cooling: These cooling solutions use fans to blow air through the heatsink fins. They are effective for moderate to high-performance cooling and are relatively easy to install.
Liquid Cooling: Some high-end CPU and GPU cooling systems use a combination of liquid cooling and fans with radiators to dissipate heat. Liquid is circulated through a closed-loop system, transferring heat to a radiator where fans then cool the liquid.
Benefits:
Temperature Control: Heatsink fans help maintain safe operating temperatures for CPUs and GPUs, which is crucial for preventing overheating and component damage.
Performance Enhancement: Effective cooling can boost the performance of CPUs and GPUs by allowing them to run at higher clock speeds for longer periods without throttling.
Longevity: Proper cooling can extend the lifespan of electronic components by reducing wear and tear associated with excessive heat.
Considerations:
Compatibility: When choosing a heatsink fan, it's important to ensure compatibility with your CPU or GPU socket type and your computer case's available space.
Noise Levels: Some high-performance fans can be noisy at high speeds, so consider noise levels if quiet operation is a priority.
Installation: Proper installation and thermal paste application are critical for effective heat transfer and cooling.
Heatsink fans are an integral part of modern computer systems, ensuring that internal components operate within safe temperature ranges while maintaining performance and reliability. They are available in various sizes and configurations to suit different computer setups and cooling needs.

User questions & answers
Question: | It does not say where the copper piece (with the rasberry on it) is supposed to go. Anyone have a picture of where it is supposed to be placed |
Answer: | Buttom |
Question: | Can I put thermal paste on it for better performance |
Answer: | You can either use thermal paste or a thermal pad, the later is best since thermal paste can become messy. |
Question: | Any clearance issues with using this on the Pi |
Answer: | No |
Question: | Where are the directions on how to install this? It did not come with the box |
Answer: | Throw it on top pins 2 and 3 |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are there instructions how to remove and replace fan casing from mother board |
Answer: | No instructions included, but you can go on YouTube and see how it’s done. |
Question: | I have a lorex lnr400 nvr that the fan seized, by looks this item looks correct, but i want to be sure. what is the measurements??? also is 5v correct |
Answer: | It is 5V and the size is 44mm*45mm |
Question: | How do you take out the fan off the motherboard for a replacement? There's no youtube video on this. Do you just pull it out |
Answer: | It's like doing a heatsink on a motherboard/ video card/ add-on card from a computer board. When you remove the screws to pull the motherboard from the housing, you will notice two plastic push pins with two compression plastic points on the back side of the motherboard. Simply depress the push pin so that you can depress the two plastic points. Sometimes the plastic is brittle and will brake. Since the new heatsink has the push pins, it's not an issue. After that you will want to salvage the thermal pad for reuse or order some thermal pads to use. |
Question: | does this come with heat sink thermal paste or tape |
Answer: | NO thermal paste or tape |
Question: | Will it work outside in my 10 ft dog kennel |
Answer: | OH, YES. We bought it for our dogs and rabbit cage. It really kept the dogs cool. I would have to move it around or my grass would burn. and i used a garbage bag to cover fan during rain. |
Question: | How do you adjust for a smaller fan |
Answer: | I put mine on a 12" fan. The tube is very flexible so it goes around one full circle and a partial second. |
Question: | Does this include the fan |
Answer: | That's what we thought. NO, it does NOT include the fan. |
Question: | Is it impossible to dissconnect my hose from the fan after connection? I'm seeing a lot of people say outdoor only, but isn't the water optional |
Answer: | Yes, you can disconnect your hose when not in use. |
