Question: | Can ddr4-3333 memory be used with this core i7 9700? don't think the 9700 can be overclocked |
Answer: | Someday they'll have stock... Maybe 2030 when i12 arrives. Not seriously, unless you work or play hard, you won't need another couple for at least 4 years |
Question: | Does the Core i7-9700 have on board graphics? Thanks |
Answer: | It runs notepad at 30fps max, you need to download st least 32 g or ddr1 ram |
Question: | base is 3.0 ghz, how can i utilize the advertised 4.5 ghz |
Answer: | If your current motherboard can support this processor, then I don't see why not. |
Question: | Does this come with any kind of heatsink/ fan or do you have to get one separately |
Answer: | No.... however any water cooler you'd buy would come with attatchments. This being the OEM tray version doesn't even come with a crappy intel stock heatsync. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use more than 2666 ddr4 ram |
Answer: | The max turbo speed of a single core is 4.7GHz. The processor itself decides how fast it can safely "turbo" a single core. Keep in mind that rarely will all 8 cores be running at the "base" 3GHz speed since the cores are always dynamically throttled or sped up to give max performance while also saving as much energy as possible. If you want to actually overclock the whole processor, then you should look at the Core i7-9700K. |
Question: | Would this fit my msi b365m pro vdh |
Answer: | It comes with a heatsink/fan combo but it's garbage. It's fine for light to moderate CPU load but with sustained load on all 8 cores at 4.5 GHz it will overload the cooler pretty quickly. It took me about 30 seconds to hit 90+C with Intel's XTU stress test. |
Question: | What does the f mean |
Answer: | Any 300 series chipset, such as the z370 will work, yes. |
Question: | Does this come the the cooling fan and heatsink |
Answer: | I almost settled a bunch of times. But I locked in the lower price they had over the weekend and now I can’t justify getting the 8700k and not this one for 20 dollars. So I’m stuck waiting. But man it’s killing me. My rig is done except for the cpu. |

Question: | I have an hp desktop that has the i3 can i upgrade it with this |
Answer: | Yes, you can enable XMP if you have a Z board even though the CPU isn't a K model. I have my 3200 mhz ram running on a Z490 (at 3200 mhz) with a non-K CPU until I can afford the 10700K. I don't know why 2 people are telling you this is a "overclock CPU as it clearly isn't as you yourself pointed out in your question but that doesn't matter for XMP. |
Question: | Difference between this and 10700k |
Answer: | Likely works fine but I always use a larger third party cooler |
Question: | Is it compatible with Msi z390-a pro lga1151 (intel 8th and 9th gen |
Answer: | You can use a maximum limit of 3600Mhz. |
Question: | does this unit come with heat sink and fan |
Answer: | Yes, the motherboard says it supports 9th generation Intel. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this the unlocked cpu and can i run this on a z170 board? With the 1151 socket |
Answer: | If the supply (#of products in stock) decreases and/or the demand (people wanting to buy) increases the price will rise, however if the supply increases and/or demand decreases then the price will lower. I got my i7 6700k for $275, while I've seen the price go up to $450. Some good examples of this are Holidays, even Black Friday, the demand increases like crazy during those times, so the best times to buy these items are actually after holidays, because companies always bump up the price.PS It also depends on the sellers, like Newegg and Best Buy, they also control the price occasionally. |
Question: | Im confused about the "optane technology support". what is it excluded from? its suppose to work with z270 motherboards |
Answer: | i7's are generally regarded as top-notch gaming processors, but for gaming they aren't necessary, and are frankly a bit overkill. The main difference between this and the i5-6600K is this processor is clocked a little higher and it has 2 threads per core, which also helps improve speed. However, this really isn't needed for a decent rig. |
Question: | Does the i7-7700k box include a heat sink |
Answer: | Higher ram speeds are overclocked (they operate at faster frequency (mhz) than stock). Usually higher speeds = better performance. For example, if you buy a 3200Mhz memory and put it on your motherboard, it will set it to factory default 2133Mhz (not overclocked). Now this memory has a built-in "XMP Profile" (Google this), that you can set on your BIOS to automatically overclock to 3200mhz |
Question: | What is the difference between this i7 and the 6700K one |
Answer: | Performance tons of performance. The 8700K is unlocked and thus can be overclocked to 5.0MHZ which provides an absolutely MASSIVE ( not slight or small ) gain over the locked 8700. Gamers are who typically purchase and benefit from CPU’s like the i7 8700K. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there any warrenty without buying 2-3 year protection |
Answer: | per Intel in warranty description: A boxed processor is sold in a factory sealed package that contains the processor, a fan-heatsink, product manual, and an Intel sticker. The product manual contains installation instructions and warranty terms and conditions. Be aware that Mobile and Enthusiast (edit:, i.e., 'k' models like the i7-7700k) SKUs typically do not include a fan-heatsink. Each boxed processor carries a 3-year limited warranty. |
Question: | Does it include fan |
Answer: | They are about the same. The new 7th gen i7 is just better optimized with a slightly higher Ghz. If you buying a new CPU I would definitely recommend 7700k. But if you are upgrading from 6700k, then there is no need. Hope that I answered your question |
Question: | What's the difference between the i7700 and the i7700k |
Answer: | I noticed this was available for pre-order from amazon themselves for a few hours on Tuesday, 8/25/2015, but then it disappeared again. It was listed for the msrp of $350 though! |
Question: | Will this work with a z170 motherboard |
Answer: | The i7 4790K and the i7 6700K both have the same number of cores (4 physical/8 virtual) and the same base clock speed per core (4.0 GHz). Even if the CPU is your bottleneck, this processor is not necessarily better for gaming than what you currently have, though you'll likely get some benefit out of the faster DDR4 memory. |

User questions & answers
Question: | These release on 10/19/2018 is the when they will ship |
Answer: | i7 -7700 comes with 3.6Ghz locked chip with stock cooler which cannot be overclocked as per IntelWhere as I7-7700 K processor are unlocked chips which can be overclocked . i7-7700 K is 4.2 GHZ and does not comes with stock cooler , so the main difference is the Overclocking and the performance |
Question: | Does anyone have their cpu shipped yet on |
Answer: | Yes. In my case it worked in a asus maximus VIII ranger. Just needed to flash the latest BIOS and all worked fine. |
Question: | is october 19th the estimated shipping date for all pre-orders |
Answer: | Yes it is unlocked, and it will run on a z170 LGA 1151 motherboard, but to use all the features a z270 chipset motherboard would be needed. |
Question: | Is amazon going to have in stock on release date |
Answer: | Optane is Intel's name for the new flash memory that worked together with Micron to create. It will be extremely fast, at *least* 10x the speed of existing SSDs. The first devices that Intel will release will be small (not exactly sure how big) PCIe M.2 SSDs. There will be a driver for these that will work on 200 level chipset motherboards and is suppose to cache and thereby speed up existing conventional storage drives. We'll see. The 'Optane' technology will not work with the current Z170, H170, etc. chipset motherboards even though the m.2 socket is the same. Hope this helps - be glad to answer follow-up questions. |
