10 best kvm with audios
A KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switch with audio capability, often referred to as a KVM switch with audio, is a hardware device used in the field of information technology and computer hardware management. It allows users to control multiple computers or servers from a single set of peripherals (keyboard, monitor, mouse) while also including audio support. Here's what you should know about KVM switches with audio:
Basic Functionality: A KVM switch with audio lets users switch between multiple computers or servers using a single keyboard, monitor, mouse, and audio output. This can be especially useful in data centers, server rooms, or for individuals who have multiple computers but don't want to clutter their workspace with multiple sets of peripherals.
Audio Support: The "with audio" feature means that these KVM switches support the transmission and control of audio signals in addition to keyboard, video, and mouse signals. This allows users to switch not only the display and input devices but also audio output, making it convenient for tasks that require audio monitoring or interaction.
Ports: KVM switches come with a specific number of ports to connect computers and peripherals. For example, a 4-port KVM switch allows you to control up to four computers from a single set of peripherals. Some models also have additional USB or audio ports for connecting external devices.
Hotkey or Button Switching: KVM switches typically offer switching methods, such as using keyboard hotkeys or physical buttons on the switch itself. Users can quickly switch between connected computers using these methods.
Compatibility: It's important to ensure that the KVM switch is compatible with the types of computers and servers you intend to control. Different KVM switches support various video and audio interfaces, including VGA, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, and different audio connectors.
Resolution Support: The KVM switch should support the maximum resolution of the connected monitors to ensure high-quality display output.
Cascade Support: Some KVM switches allow for cascading, which means you can connect multiple KVM switches together to control a larger number of computers.
Management Software: More advanced KVM switches may come with management software that allows for remote control and configuration of connected computers.
Rack-Mountable: In server environments, some KVM switches are designed to be rack-mounted for easy integration into server racks and cabinets.
In summary, a KVM switch with audio is a hardware device that allows users to control multiple computers or servers from a single set of peripherals, including audio support. These devices are widely used in various IT and computer management scenarios to streamline operations, reduce clutter, and enhance productivity.

User questions & answers
Question: | why does this need 2 USB connections to each computer |
Answer: | If you have a wireless keyboard/mouse combination you will only need 1 USB port and can the other to switch a USB printer. |
Question: | Can this switch between 2 VGA inputs without connecting a keyboard and mouse |
Answer: | Can you clairify your question? 1. Are you asking if it will switch between two VGA inputs while using the same mouse and keyboard input? If so, the answer is no. When you click the button, it changes the VGA input as well as the mouse/keyboard input. 2. Are you asking if it will be switch between two VGA without having to connect a keyboad/mouse? Then yes, if you connect just two VGA inputs, it will switch between them with no issues. |
Question: | Could two of the 2-port switches be daisy changed together to switch between 3 computers (mouse and keyboard only |
Answer: | That might work, but it sounds like it would be a pain to switch between computers. Check out http://synergy-foss.org/. If your 3 computers are all on the same network, you can install Synergy on each one, and share the keyboard and mouse between them. It's seamless. There's no switching involved. Your mouse moves between the monitors as if it was all one big desktop. You can even copy and paste between computers. It's like magic. It's not perfect, but it's pretty cool. |
Question: | can I switch computers with a hotkey |
Answer: | Takoma's response is correct. You can use the default Scroll Lock-Scroll Lock-Enter hotkey to do the switching instead of the dedicated button provided. In my experience, the dedicated button seems to switch faster than the hotkey. The screen swaps and keyboard/mouse input seems to come alive in under 2 seconds with the dedicated button, as opposed to using the hotkey which seems to get the keyboard/mouse going in about 2 seconds, but the screen catches up another 2 seconds later for a total of 4 seconds. |

User questions & answers
Question: | The kvm doesn't need a usb input from the pc? i only see vga inputs on the box |
Answer: | Yes, it is safe to use with septic systems. |
Question: | I have a very old kvm switch. it requires both computers to be turned on for it to work on either computer. does this switch have that requirement |
Answer: | It contains citric acid and sodium bisulfate. Does an exceleent job of cleaning. The racks slide in and out so much easier. |
Question: | How long are the cables |
Answer: | Well, it can be run with dishes in the diswasher if you want to. It also has a pleasant, lemony scent. Bleach, especially in such a small concentration, does not do much for hard water build up/lime scale. For that you need something acidic. If you don't want to use these tablets, a cup or two of vinegar (apple cider vinegar smells better, but any vinegar will do) works fairly well. I have also sprinkled baking soda in the grate in the bottom of my dishwasher, then poured the vinegar in and let it sit a few minutes before running the dishwasher to clean it. The reaction of the vinegar and baking soda helps loosen bits of food residue caught in the grates. |
Question: | Does it work with linux, such as ubuntu or centos |
Answer: | No, the main interesting ingredient here is citric acid, which will remove the "hard" water buildup (calcium and magnesium minerals) from the dishwasher, along with anything odor-causing that's living in that buildup. The only thing that'll get your dishwasher cleaning dishes properly again is putting phosphate back in the dishwasher detergent (it was taken out by all the manufacturers in 2010 because some, not even all, the states banned it). You can either go through some contortions to buy sodium hexametaphosphate and add it to regular detergent or buy something like Bubble Bandit (which gets around the bans, even in those legislatively-misguided states, by claiming to be for commercial dishwashing machines) which still has plenty of phosphate in it. You could also try one of the fancy multi-compartment detergent pods (the highest-end Cascade as well as Finish Quantum, possibly others, but do your research for which ones actually work), but those are pretty expensive, especially since the different-colored compartments aren't just a gimmic (likeI, cynically, originally thought) but are actually supposed to release different chemicals at different times in the rinse cycle. Phosphates will both get your dishwasher cleaning again and prevent the buildup in the first place. Their removal from dishwasher detergents is a faux-environmentalism scam, as those contributed less to less than 1% of the phosphates in wastewater, even in those places where phosphate concentrations were a legitimate problem (which is not even everywhere). The biggest culprit is, unsurprisingly, industrial pollution, and that's, equally unsurprisingly, still not banned, despite everyone's dishwashers having been rendered useless. Why pay more for fancy pods with unknown-impact chemicals when good, old phosphates do the job perfectly well? |

Question: | does the power adapter support 220 volt? or it's only 110 volt |
Answer: | This 4 port displayport KVM comes with a DC 5V 2A power adapter, you can plug it into AC110-220V socket for power supply. Email us ([email protected]) for more assist. |
Question: | Kvm connectors on unit have 15 pins like vga connectors, most of which are assigned to vga signals. how is usb/audio incorporated |
Answer: | USB and audio have separate plugs on the cable ends that plug into PCs. The other end of cables have only VGA connector that plugs into unit so it must use a couple unused wires in the cable. In any case, it works fine. I actually have a small 4 input USB hub to share the extra USB input so I can use a USB mike, camera, and scanner that all PCs can now use. After about 3 months use, I haven't had any problems with any USB input including mouse and keyboard or with audio. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work with a microsoft surface pro? does it come with the cables i will need |
Answer: | NO - you would have to purchase more. All Surface Pro's only have 1x USB port and 1x mini-Display Port (not HDMI). You would have to purchase a mini-DP to HDMI video adapter (less than $10) to use it with this switch. Microsoft does sell a port replicator (~$150), but it also only has mini-DP video ports (so it does NOT help you to buy that). "Orion" said "Micro Surface Dock" could plug into this KVM, but only "later" said that you still need a video adapter. If you need this HDMI KVM switch, the easiest/best/cheapest thing to do would be to buy a simple "mini-DP to HDMI" video adapter and plug the (now HDMI) and USB into this KVM switch. |
Question: | Does the switch “proxy” edid information when the host isn’t selected to talk directly to the monitor |
Answer: | Its supposed to, but I have not found this magical 1080p/auto edid button that the manual keeps mentioning. So my lg ultrawide is stuck on 1080p for all 4 of my pc. |
Question: | I recently bought this bu when I went to set i up today, the box appears to be opened. Its missing 2 of the cables.I set it up and would rather to get |
Answer: | Contact their support email--it is in answers to other questions which I cannot see at the moment while I'm answering this question. They are incredibly responsive--one of my cables was broken and they sent me TWO replacements within a week. |
Question: | Does this support uhd 4k, ie: 3840x2160/30p ? another kvm i bought that claimed 4k support only supports 1080p/1080p 3d |
Answer: | I have a ultra wide lg monitor and when I connect the kvm switch it did not go all the way to 4k. It was not supported it went to a Max of 1920 x 1080. I didn't like the way the display look. All my icon where big AF!. Kvm i switch is on a drawer...😂😂😂 |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long are the cables |
Answer: | There are 4 sets of cables with connections for USB2.0, HDMI, plus plugs for sound and microphone included, and each set is about 72 inches long. A nice feature are the sliding cable guides, that can be moved to adjust the separation of the cables to suit your computer port positions. The switch has worked well for several month, without issues. |
Question: | Does this switch work for pre post to be able to enter fucntion commands and enter bios etc. prior to drivers loading |
Answer: | I rebooted Ubuntu machine and pressed F1 to get into BIOS - no problem. Tried several times with Win10 but couldn't get into BIOS. I use a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse with my 4 port IOGeear MiniVIew. I suppose if I wanted to get into Win10 BIOS, I'd just take the Logitech dongle out of the 4 port switch and into the Win10 PC. |
Question: | need manual |
Answer: | Manual link has changed. Current link as of 12/5/2018: https://www.iogear.com/support/dm/manual/GCS1794 |
Question: | does anyone have any experience using this with a higher resolution monitor, my monitor is 2560x |
Answer: | See my review...I'm using it to drive a WQHD (2560x1440) monitor through the HDMI port with no problems. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have two laptops with two docking stations and four monitors between them. Will this work for that type of setup |
Answer: | Maybe. This has 1 monitor (VGA) connection. So it's designed to switch 2 computers between a single keyboard video and mouse (KVM). I think it will work to switch just the keyboard and mouse, so in that respect yes. But honestly I think you should look for that does just that, only mouse and keyboard. And if this is the closest thing to that, then maybe this is your best option. |
Question: | Anyone tried this unit with a Logitech M310 wireless keyboard and mouse combo |
Answer: | I have an Anker keyboard/mouse combo and works fine, havent tried it with another combo |
Question: | Does the hdmi version work with a wireless keyboard and mouse and hot key switching |
Answer: | It's hit or miss. I tried 3 different sets of wireless keyboards and mice, and only had intermittent problems. Some people here have claimed it worked for them. Not me. |
Question: | Will the hdmi be able to support a 2560x1080 resolution at 60hz, or should i go for displayport |
Answer: | my monitor is only 1920x1080 and it works fine on HDMI. the published limit is 1920x1200. it is also a touch monitor which also works fine. I also use a Logitech wireless KB and mouse. |
