On my setup I have color profile problems I need to fix, but that has nothing to do with kvm or cables. Yes use good cables. Display port should be better than dvi, but I have no experience, as my setup is DVI.

AV4PRO-DVI MultiScreen units have two types of USB ports, enumerated (USB1 and USB2 mentioned earlier) and emulated. Programmable keyboards may work connected to one of the enumerated (or switched) ports but not when they are connected to emulated ports.Please note that at switchover (when the channel is changed) devices that are connected to enumerated ports are disconnected from one computer and are connected to the next system and they may not be available for a few seconds (until they operating system of the computer enumerates them). When the keyboard is connected to one of the enumerated ports hotkey switching is not available, the user must switch between computers using mouse switching, remote control (RC4-8P8C) or the front panel push button.

Question:	Will this work with a microsoft surface pro? does it come with the cables i will need
Answer:	NO - you would have to purchase more. All Surface Pro's only have 1x USB port and 1x mini-Display Port (not HDMI). You would have to purchase a mini-DP to HDMI video adapter (less than $10) to use it with this switch. Microsoft does sell a port replicator (~$150), but it also only has mini-DP video ports (so it does NOT help you to buy that). "Orion" said "Micro Surface Dock" could plug into this KVM, but only "later" said that you still need a video adapter. If you need this HDMI KVM switch, the easiest/best/cheapest thing to do would be to buy a simple "mini-DP to HDMI" video adapter and plug the (now HDMI) and USB into this KVM switch.

Answer:	There's a bit of a hiccup with my RAT mouse. I eventually added a small four port USB hub to the true USB port on the back and hooked up the keyboard and mouse to that, since both have applets that aid in configuration. Through the console keyboard and mouse ports, no the applets wont work. It doesnt send all the signals the applets will recognize. But with the added on USB hub, you can, but honestly with the RAT software I need to reconfigure whenever I switch over. It loses the signal and defaults the applet to not configured. But if its needed and enabling each time isnt a problem, add a usb hub to the true usb port on the back.
