14 best 4g compact flash cards

4G Compact Flash (CF) cards are a type of removable storage device commonly used in digital cameras, audio recorders, and other electronic devices. Here's what you need to know about them:

  1. Capacity: A 4G Compact Flash card typically has a storage capacity of 4 gigabytes (GB). This refers to the amount of data it can hold, including photos, videos, and other files.

  2. Form Factor: Compact Flash cards are larger in size compared to modern memory cards like microSD cards. They were widely used in the early 2000s and have been largely replaced by smaller and more compact formats like SD and microSD cards.

  3. Transfer Speed: The speed at which data can be read from or written to a 4G Compact Flash card can vary. They may have different speed classes, such as "standard" or "high-speed", which affect how quickly data can be accessed.

  4. Usage: These cards were commonly used in professional cameras and audio recording equipment due to their robust build quality and larger storage capacities at the time.

  5. Compatibility: Older devices, particularly those manufactured in the early 2000s, may have a Compact Flash card slot. However, newer devices, especially consumer electronics like smartphones and tablets, are more likely to use microSD cards or other storage solutions.

  6. Adapters: Compact Flash cards may be used with adapters that allow them to be connected to a computer via a USB port or card reader. This enables the transfer of data between the card and a computer.

  7. End of Life: As technology has advanced, the use of Compact Flash cards has declined in favor of smaller, faster, and higher-capacity storage solutions like SD and microSD cards.

Remember, while this information is accurate , it's always a good idea to verify specific details or check for any updates if you're considering purchasing or using a 4G Compact Flash card.

Question: What type of reader can be used with this card
Answer: I'm unfamiliar with the Fantom X as I play the electric guitar. However, in reviewing http://lib.roland.co.jp/support/en/manuals/res/1811531/Fantom-X678_r_eA.pdf, page 5 says it will accept CompactFlash memory cards. However, per http://www.musiciansfriend.com/resources/article/Roland-Fantom-X/m711821, it appears the keyboard has a PC card slot for data backup with a 1GB capacity so assuming this is a standard socket, you'd only be able to use 1GB of the 8GB available on the Transcend CompactFlash. Regarding speed, I use mine in a Canon camera capable of producing 6 raw frames a second so this should be no problem in the Roland environment.Note that my response is not a wholesale blessing for the use of the subject Transcend CompactFlash memory card, but it appears it will work though you'd only be able to use 12% of its capacity (1GB of 8GB). Hope this helps. Good luck.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this a Type 1 card
Answer: Yes -Correct.
Question: Will this work on a CanonXF100 video camera
Answer: Yes this product will work with the CanonXF100 Video camera. Filmtools recommends that you use the Extreme Pro.
Question: how many maximum images
Answer: It depends on your camera and what format you shoot in. I have a Canon 5Ds 50mp and shoot only Raw and I have approximately 489 available shots. I imagine that you would have more space shooting in jpg and more if you have a lower megapixel camera. Hope this helps :) I am happy with the ones I bought so far no problems at all.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this compact flash card work in a nikon d
Answer: If you Nikon D200 has a compact flash slot, it will work.
Question: Can this card be set to fixed mode
Answer: My apologies..... Not certain about fixed modes? I do know they are extremely bad cards. I had two 64GB cards go bad..and 2 32gb cards quit working as well. Use to love them years before.. I have not purchased anymore after all the bad cards. I likely have not bought one in more than 2 years. Never again either! Which is understandable. I did get one replaced... Not sure about the issues with the last 3? It seems like no one would help..but I can not recall my efforts put forth to get replacements.?
Question: Does the card show up as a fixed or removable disk when hooked up directly to a PC
Answer: Im not sure what you mean. I have a laptop without a cf reader, so I use the sandisk card reader via 3.0 usb connection, and it shows up as drive G:// on my Toshiba laptop running win 8.1
Question: Will this work for canon 5d mark 2 shooting in raw
Answer: Yes. I use these all the time with my 5Diii, full size raw. They're fine.

User questions & answers

Question: Where can I download the AutoFormat tool? The link on the transcend website doesn't work
Answer: Try this link:http://www.transcend-info.com/Support/Software-2I just google and found this link. But it seems that the download takes very long time. But this program seems not of any use if your camera can format the card. It's better to format the card with your camera.
Question: Does it work with the 80D??? I'm assuming yes, but just to have clarification
Answer: If the camera can work with CF cards, it should work with this card. It is better to ask Canon or Transcend to find out if they are compatible.
Question:
Answer: Should work fine with the D800. Super fast card. I have the 128 (1000x) GB version. Which really kicks!
Question: I've been having errors in my Nikon D810 using the 64GB 1000x CF card. Is there a way to update the firmware on this card to make it work on the D
Answer: Try doing a full format of the card. I have used this card on both Canon and Nikon, several models and never had an issue. Might want to contact Nikon if a full format of the card does not work. There is no firmware on the card that should need to be updated.
