Question:	Do i need to use the usb dongle or can i pair it directly with my mac book
Answer:	The combo is wireless one, not Bluetooth. You need the USB dongle to get it work.
Question:	Can I replace the mouse with a new one, while keeping the same usb dongle and the keyboard
Answer:	I would say not easily. I have a couple of the Rapoo keyboards and one mouse. The mouse will only work with the keyboard that it came with. There is a wireless code on the mouse so if you were able to match the code on the replacement mouse, by some strange occurrence, you might be able to replace the mouse. It might be easier to just use a second dongle rather than trying to match the mouse wireless code.
