SA400S37/120G will work fine in the older Toshiba Satellite, although not performing up to the advertised SSD speeds due to host system limitations, nonetheless A400 will outperform original hard disk drive to help enhance the system overall performance. A400 should physically fit the notebook internal drive bay using existing mounting hardware. PC will automatically detect the new SSD upon power up. Question:	How do you format this and why is that necessary for new drives? What stops me from plugging it right into my system and getting started
Answer:	Depends on what you're doing. You can connect this to your system but new drives will not be functional until you initialize them and create a partition under Disk Management. Your other option (what I did with this drive) is to disconnect your existing drive and then install this (while PC is off if that's not obvious). Then you have a blank drive in your system and can boot from an OS disc like Windows 10. A fresh Windows 10 installation will still recognize the drive and be able to initialize it properly as well as create the necessary partitions. Let me know if you have any follow up questions.

Answer:	Reviews have suggested that the two drives are VERY close in performance (nearly within margin of error of tests). The WD Black gen3 devices were the first ones to actually challenge the 960 EVO NVMe drives for dominance of the high-performance consumer grade SSDs. You can't go wrong with either one, as far as I can tell, at least from reviews. They'll provide insignificant differences in speed/performance between the two. Therefore, you should purchase based on price and (if it's important to you) warranty. Note also that the WD drive caps at 1TB in size (vs. 2 TB for the 970 EVO), so if you wanted to go that route, there's only one choice. As far as "best high-performance consumer level" NVMe drive, the 970 EVO and the 3rd generation WD black are on an even playing field, and both at the top of the stack (this ignores the "prosumer" market devices like the 970 Pro where prices are much higher per gigabyte). Note that it's possible that you won't notice any performance difference between these high-performance NVMe drives and, say, a high-quality SATA drive.

Answer:	The 960 Pro is from the previous generation. The newer one is the 970 Pro. Comparing the 960 Pro to the newer 970 EVO is a bit difficult because they aren't in the same class. The Primary difference between the Pro and the EVO is the Pro uses MLC (Multi Level Cell) whereas the EVO uses a Triple Level Cell. Case and point with the EVO. You can get a 2tb EVO drive but the Pro tops out at 1tb. The silicon is able to get more storage space for the real estate with TLC. On the other hand MLC is more reliable and more hearty than TLC which is why the Pro is using the MLC. Maybe you want to know about write endurance. One thing to keep in mind about write endurance is you will probably never come close to hitting it's limits unless you are using the drive all the time to save and load large files like a professional would. Also, the write endurance of the 1tb 970 Pro is double the write endurance of the 512gb 970 Pro. hardware review sites and done tests of the actual write cycle longevity of these drives and these drives last longer than what they're rated for. More than likely in your case, these drives will be long obsolete by the time they're half worn out. The write endurance of the 500gb 970 EVO is 300TB write cycles. Sequential R/W of the 970 EVO is 3400MB/s read and 2300MB/s write. I believe the 970 evo uses a Single Level Cell cache to boost write speeds. The write endurance of the 512gb 960 Pro is 400TB/wc. Sequential R/W of the 960 Pro is 3500MB/s read and 2100MB/s write The 970 series is more refined. Both use the updated Phoenix controller whereas the 960 series uses the Polaris controller. Both the 960 Pro and 970 EVO have a 5 year warranty. The older 960 EVO only has a 3 year warranty. The answer to this question between the 960 Pro and 970 Evo is simple........... get whichever is cheaper.

Answer:	Almost certainly yes: you may need to purchase a cable to connect it to the sata port on the motherboard, and go into the bios to update the settings and ensure your primary drive remains the boot drive

Answer:	Performance and longevity, the Blue is faster than the green and has a higher endurance rating (lasts longer). WD Green is essentially the economy line, which tends to also use less power, thus being an ECO line. I wouldn't recommend the green line unless web-browsing and office is the extent of your computer usage. The Blue has 5 times the endurance rating, 400TBW vs 80TBW, which is enough of a difference alone, for me.

Answer:	The target drive *must* be equal or larger. If the drive is larger, you'll need to expand the partition in the operating system after cloning.

Answer:	The seller's answer is misleading without context. Yes, technically it CAN be used to erase/wipe drives, but that is not a native feature to this device. It is a cloner/dock, so you can use the dock functionality to connect to a PC and from there use a third party application to erase the drive. Seller should have specified, but it seems to me (I am a tad cynical by nature) that the seller purposefully didn't in order to increase interest in the product. Boo to you seller. Boo.

Answer:	Yes. I just installed this drive in my son's mid-2012 13" Macbook Pro (non-retina) and the speed difference is amazing! I would recommend first updating your operating system to Mac OS X High Sierra which also updates the recovery partition on your Mac. When you install your new drive, hold down Option-Command R when powering on to boot into the recovery partition which will then allow you format and install the OS. If you happen to see a message that the Recovery server is not available, you probably just need to set the Macbook clock to the correct time with the command: date mmddhhmmyy. For example: date 0128140018 will set the date to January 28, 2pm, 2018. The date is set through the Terminal app, also available on the Recovery partition.

Answer:	Per software licensing laws, each unit is one license good for one PC. You can certainly install multiple times but on the same PC. Also, after installation, you can clone multiple hard drives (or SSDs) by connecting the source drive to the PC. Answer:	if you really want to access via USB, just get a harddrive docking station. They are so much cheaper then networked attached storage anyway, less electronics to fail...just better all the way around unless you are dealing with someone who can't cope with connecting and disconnecting stuff, it's far better. You can sway in and out many drives and store them...

Answer:	This is a network attached storage device. In order to use this with Windows 10 you'll need to map it as a network drive. Yes, the contents can be encrypted. No, it's not a USB device, it's a network device.

Question:	Anyone use this successfully as a Plex media server
Answer:	To clarify, this can absolutely be used as storage for the media you host on a plex server but you will need to run the plex server on another device. Kind of Similar to DC Mike's setup; I have a an old AMD PC that hosts my plex server (Athlon x2 4400+, 8gb DDR2, and Radeon HD 6870 *can't remember if video card helps with plex decoding at all, but it's there anyway and has no other use to me) I do have a couple TB worth of media on HDDs in that box but the majority of my data is on similar NAS devices like this buffalo Linkstation. Literally any USB external or NAS drive can host media for a Plex server with extremely little chance of limited performance. The limiting factor in Plex performance comes with the capability of the computer hosting the server to decode and encode media to play on the device you're trying to stream to (for instance, accessing your plex server from another pc takes much fewer resources than on your ipad would require because the server pc has to reencode the media to a format that iOS can utilize) and, in the case of remote streaming, your internet connection. The 10+ year old pc I described can stream multiple 1080p video remotely with no visible lag and I've tried as much as 7 local network 1080p streams and had not issue there.tl;dr - This can host all of your music, video, pictures for a plex server to access but not run the plex server itself.

Answer:	The HD space exactly matches the Samsung T3/T5 size/shape which is ~3"x2 1/4". It won't fit your 860 evo drive but it is a great case if you can find a similar one for your drive.

Answer:	If you currently have 3.5 inch sata hard drives installed, this will allow you to use a 2.5 inch instead. Its frame and connector are in position to make a 2.5 inch sata drive look exactly like a 3.5 inch drive for both mounting and interfacing to the electrical connector. Therefore, if you are removing a bare, standard 3.5 inch hard drive out of something, you can mount your new 2.5 inch hard drive into this bracket, and install the bracket with the new drive into the exact same position the old drive was previously installed. It has mounting holes and the interface connector in the exact place of a bare 3.5 in hard drive.

Answer:	I bought several of this item and screws were included - 4 of a size which fits the SSD mounting holes, 4 of a larger size which fit the threaded holes in the sides and bottom of the bracket.This item is available from several different vendors. It is actually a surplus Hewlett-Packard part, it is very well made, and I presume the fasteners are included no matter which vendor actually sells it to you ... but that is a presumption on my part.
