Answer:	These are the first and only caddies I've used on mac pro towers that REALLY WORK. No issues. Once I screwed down a couple on the mac Pro disk "drawer" metal brackets, I can pull and pop SSDs in and out in seconds, something I can't say for the traditional duct tape technique. I got a couple and regretted not buying more right away. One great thing is how quickly the SSD slides in and out of the Orico "nest". I only use one screw in a corner away from the connector end to hold the SSD in, that's plenty. Find a screw with that tiny threading that's easy to grab so you don't even need to use a screwdriver. Keep a couple of Oricos assembled to mac pro brackets, position the Orico just right tighten the screws and then never mess with that again. Just loosen the SSD fastening screw to change only the SSD. Granted, the mac Pro SATA is 3gb not 6, so for best performance you'd want a PCIe card SSD mount, but in most situations it doesn't really make much difference.

Answer:	Hello ORICO. What Virginia means is the drive bay MUST BE THE EXACT FORM FACTOR AS A 3.5 " drive. This means that the screws would be in the same position as a 3.5" drive and the connector would be in the same position as a 3.5" drive. Why would you want this? Because as Virginia stated some people have drive bays that 3.5" disks slide into and it would help if the connectors and screws lined up. It certainly looks large enough for this

Answer:	The price options are for different products; built to hold larger vs. smaller capacity drives. Understand what you want/need and then order the product that meets your need. I have the smallest capacity drive and it works great for what I wanted.

Answer:	I would bet probably so. Windows-to-go is dependent on your hard drive choice, but I have seen it work when "it really shouldn't". Where most people get sidelined is not the drive choice but the bios/setup settings on the pc/laptop/etc device. The variance among them is huge.

Answer:	The drive in the enclosure will only spin when data is being accessed. So turning the computer off definitely stops the enclosure drive from spinning. The enclosure also has a on/off power button.
Question:	is there a heating problem or how is the heat dissipated
Answer:	I had a heat problem, used it for 5 months. The drive had no files on it so shouldn't have run hot. I took the drive out, let it cool off, put it back in and there was no power to the enclosure. I put in two other working drives, still no power to it. I put the drive in another enclosure and it was not hot, copied 350GB of files to it and it is still not hot. Apparently the enclosure malfunctioned.

Question:	Is this device able to make a bit-by-bit (DD) forensic copy of a hard drive
Answer:	I don't think so. I operates more like Ghost or Clonezilla. It will copy from the source disc to any disc that is the same size or larger and doesn't care about geometry. The discs cloned by it have their sizes adjusted to fill any empty space on the target disc. That behavior is inconsistent w/ forensic imaging like you get w/ OSFmount and similar.

Answer:	The theoretical limit for USB 3.0 is 5 Gbps. This is equivalent to 625 MBps. You will never see this level of performance in the real world. I have 5 8TB WD 5,400 RPM drives in my ORICO 5 Bay. With a RAID 0 array formatted as exFAT using a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port on the host side and reading and writing from an SSD I get write throughput of 164MBs and read of 185MBs. The test was done with a single 26 GB file. Copying a bunch of smaller files will be slower. With a RAID 5 array I get write throughput of 148MBs and read of 198MBs. Writing RAID 5 is slower than RAID 0 due to the overhead of calculating parity.

Question:	I have 3 older computers from 1999- forward, would like to get the files off there old drives. which model do I want and do I need anything else? ty
Answer:	You'll need a hard disk drive dock that can handle both IDE & eSATA HDs. This Orico won't do it. I own one of these, too. You'll need the EZO Ware 2 slot HDD dock, model 875 U3, or any model CAVALRY dual bay hard drive dock. Both of these models have two slots or "bays" for two different types of HDs....the old IDEs & the back slot for the newer eSATA HDs. This second slot will handle both 3.5" HDDs & 2.5" HDDs & SSDs (solid state drives). Very versatile. Now, if you can not find these 2 recommended models (that I also own & purchased here), you can just search hard drive dock stations that handle both eSATA & IDE HDDs. Be careful, because some newer models have 2 bays for eSATA & no slot for IDE. This because, as you have discovered, the IDEs are now obsolete. Just read the description carefully when ordering. In appearance, they will hold the drives vertically & not horizontally like the ORICO illustrated here. In other words they are drop-in's & not slide-in's. Hope that this helps you. I build a new computer every year & understand the problem of moving older stored data on "dated" hardware to newer hardware. Compatibility can be a problem. There is one other choice that AMAZON has carried: an adapter cable that has a USB male plug on one end & a 2-sided plastic adapter plug on the other end. One side of this plug on the end of the cable plugs into an IDE drive. The other side of the plug will plug into an eSATA drive, either 2.5" or 3.5." It would be slightly less expensive but is USB 2.0 standard & slower transfers. The docks listed above are USB 3.0 (& believe me, this is important & will save you hours of time during transfers) & will transfer your data to the newer eSATA HDs MUCH faster. Answer:	I have old seagate drive in it (5.25x3.5x0.75 inches), and tried WD 4tb drive (4.25x3.2x0.8 inches), both fit pretty well. However, seagate width (3.5 inches) seems to fill it almost completely, with very little wiggle room, though it goes in pretty freely. amazon did not provide the option to attach image here, so added it to my review, with seagate HDD in. hope that helps.

Answer:	According to the Crucial website, the MX200 uses an mSATA connection, not the type of SATA connector that is used on most SSD/hard drives, so you need a different type of enclosure. MacSales/OWC (among others) make an enclosure that will work for this type of SSD card/interface, do a search on Amazon for "mSATA enclosure" and you should find quite a few enclosures that should work...but be careful because other types of enclosures will show up with that same search so be certain that you're buying one that has an internal *mSATA* interface. Question:	Why is it not a standard usb 3.0 connecton on the enclosure? now i have to carry around this very specific cord with me everywhere
Answer:	I've bought 2.5" enclosures and 2.5" portable drives, and all have used this same US B3.0 cable. The only other kind of USB 3.0 I've seen has a much larger, bulkier end; and I've only encountered it on enclosures for 3.5" drives - and those require a 5v power source in addition to the USB 3.0 cable. I don't actually know why the difference, but I assume it has something to do with the fact that the larger connector would defeat the purpose of having a small portable drive that is easily pocketed and does not require an external power source other than the USB connection itself.

Answer:	i can't recommend it to use with linux. i've installed ubuntu 17.10 to this enclosure (with intel ssd inside) and booted it. it works for 5-10 minutes and then hangs on (seems that it disconnects from usb port - i see ext4/block device errors). i've tried it with dell optiplex desktop's and with dell laptops - the same result.
