Answer:	The drive in the enclosure will only spin when data is being accessed. So turning the computer off definitely stops the enclosure drive from spinning. The enclosure also has a on/off power button.
Question:	is there a heating problem or how is the heat dissipated
Answer:	I had a heat problem, used it for 5 months. The drive had no files on it so shouldn't have run hot. I took the drive out, let it cool off, put it back in and there was no power to the enclosure. I put in two other working drives, still no power to it. I put the drive in another enclosure and it was not hot, copied 350GB of files to it and it is still not hot. Apparently the enclosure malfunctioned.

Answer:	No, this drive connects to a single host. Unless you maybe have a network switch that supports USB drives, then maybe connect the drive to that and then access the drive via network that way. But there is no network port on drive, is meant to connect directly to a single Mac or PC.

Answer:	Sorry this will not work. The actual interface on the drive is USB-C and that will not work with a Thunderbolt adapter. Many hard drives such as this that have the USB-C interface will put "Thunderbolt 3" in the description, and what that means is that the drive will work with a Thunderbolt 3 port on computer since Thunderbolt 3 is compatible with USB-C. But not being an actual Thunderbolt 3 port on the drive, the Thunderbolt adapter will not work to connect to older Thunderbolt 1/2 ports on computers.

Answer:	Having the same problem and tried everything I could think of. Called Lacie and they said it was a problem with MAC OSX 10.15. Can't confirm with apple that the problem is on their side and not Lacie's. Nobody is taking ownership!

Answer:	It connected by a usb cord. Since the xbox has a usb port you can attach it. How ever the has to be able to recognize the hard drive is attached. This is just and empty hard drive case so you have to have to install a hard drive.. After that it just an external storge.

Answer:	I have mine plugged into a power strip and it stays on. When I boot the PC the drive is there. But if you shut off the power at the power strip I think you will have turn the drive on again before you boot.

Answer:	Each drive is seen by the computer as a separate drive, so, yes, you can use software on that computer to create a RAID system. Best used with Windows Storage Spaces, or Linux MdRAID. The RAID version of this box has built in RAID hardware, which does not let you customize the RAID system.

Answer:	It is recognised as a fixed drive it will all depend on how the bios picks it up but you can soon check if you put a windows 10 disk in and boot to it go through the install procedure to the point where you can select what option you have for such drive to install it to if you see the drive in that you have in the sick then the answer would be yes

Question:	I have 3 older computers from 1999- forward, would like to get the files off there old drives. which model do I want and do I need anything else? ty
Answer:	You'll need a hard disk drive dock that can handle both IDE & eSATA HDs. This Orico won't do it. I own one of these, too. You'll need the EZO Ware 2 slot HDD dock, model 875 U3, or any model CAVALRY dual bay hard drive dock. Both of these models have two slots or "bays" for two different types of HDs....the old IDEs & the back slot for the newer eSATA HDs. This second slot will handle both 3.5" HDDs & 2.5" HDDs & SSDs (solid state drives). Very versatile. Now, if you can not find these 2 recommended models (that I also own & purchased here), you can just search hard drive dock stations that handle both eSATA & IDE HDDs. Be careful, because some newer models have 2 bays for eSATA & no slot for IDE. This because, as you have discovered, the IDEs are now obsolete. Just read the description carefully when ordering. In appearance, they will hold the drives vertically & not horizontally like the ORICO illustrated here. In other words they are drop-in's & not slide-in's. Hope that this helps you. I build a new computer every year & understand the problem of moving older stored data on "dated" hardware to newer hardware. Compatibility can be a problem. There is one other choice that AMAZON has carried: an adapter cable that has a USB male plug on one end & a 2-sided plastic adapter plug on the other end. One side of this plug on the end of the cable plugs into an IDE drive. The other side of the plug will plug into an eSATA drive, either 2.5" or 3.5." It would be slightly less expensive but is USB 2.0 standard & slower transfers. The docks listed above are USB 3.0 (& believe me, this is important & will save you hours of time during transfers) & will transfer your data to the newer eSATA HDs MUCH faster. The difference in cost is well worth buying the desktop models. Hope that all of this helps. Tried to give you several different choices & explain why. Good Luck.

Answer:	The theoretical limit for USB 3.0 is 5 Gbps. This is equivalent to 625 MBps. You will never see this level of performance in the real world. I have 5 8TB WD 5,400 RPM drives in my ORICO 5 Bay. With a RAID 0 array formatted as exFAT using a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port on the host side and reading and writing from an SSD I get write throughput of 164MBs and read of 185MBs. The test was done with a single 26 GB file. Copying a bunch of smaller files will be slower. With a RAID 5 array I get write throughput of 148MBs and read of 198MBs. Writing RAID 5 is slower than RAID 0 due to the overhead of calculating parity.

Answer:	The 3.5 inch is for a desktop (tower) drive, where the 2.5 inch is for a laptop drive. I got the 2.5 to use an old 1TB laptop drive, and it for perfectly, no issues.

Question:	Is this device able to make a bit-by-bit (DD) forensic copy of a hard drive
Answer:	I don't think so. I operates more like Ghost or Clonezilla. It will copy from the source disc to any disc that is the same size or larger and doesn't care about geometry. The discs cloned by it have their sizes adjusted to fill any empty space on the target disc. That behavior is inconsistent w/ forensic imaging like you get w/ OSFmount and similar.

Answer:	This system can be used for both cloning and as extra storage. It's not designed to transfer data from SATA drive directly to a USB device without a computer involved. Some drive duplicators, like those made by Tableau and Supersonix, can do that but it gets expensive.

Answer:	No, this enclosure only supports 2.5 inch (2.5") hard drives. Use the WD10SPZX drive if you need a drive for cheep, or the WD10SPSX drive if you need more speed. Just make sure that the form factor is 2.5 inch and the interface is sata III and you should be fine.

Answer:	Press gently and slide the covers back. Also sometime there is clear tape that has to be removed for the first time. Once open excise the door a couple of times it will be a lot easier to open.
