Answer:	Because "gold plated" sells better. the metal contact will have zero effect on the laser signal.

Answer:	It's purely just to make the product seem more attractive. It has nothing to do with wear or corrosion like others have stated. Honestly Toslink is an old and outdated standard. Fiber optic is great when utilized properly, but Toslink can only handle lossless, uncompressed audio for up to 2 channels, surround must be compressed. HDMI is the better standard for hi def audio, and gold plating is also an unnecessary gimmick when dealing with it as well.

Answer:	So far, it is doing great damage to my JK, but it's advised to WAIT and spray in the fall when it's in full flower. This is when the plant will carry the poison down to the root. If you spray earlier in the season when it's growing, you'll just kill the foliage and it will grow back again. Answer:	I immediately had this same question. It's a gimmick. I've had a cheap off brand Tos cable for over 10 years and it still works flawlessly. Gold is one of the best electrical conductors but mainly because it's super malleable. It's probably NOT 24K gold here. Actually I guarantee it's not. Otherwise I'd buy as many as they can make and spend all day with a knife scraping off the gold to sell it at the super high price it's been at. lol.

Answer:	Your TV has to have an optical port. The first time I tried, I couldn't get it in either. Then I discovered that I had not taken off the plastic cover. When I did, it popped right in.

Answer:	No, this device cannot convert a 2D signal to a 3D signal. It is merely stating that you can run a 3D signal through the box without issues. The Tv, Cable, this box, whatever is driving the display (eg, a disk player.console, or pc), and the content you're trying to stream all have to all support a 3D signal. Movies especially, are hard to find in 3D. The film needs to be recorded with two cameras working simultaneously, like how people use two eyes to make a 3d image of their surroundings. Doing this without two cameras requires someone to guess how close the object should be, a very imperfect science. --Basic rundown on how 3D works The marketing is referring to HDMI's ability to carry a stereo-graphic 3D signal. This is used by special tvs to make a 3 dimensional image. It is basically two simultaneous video streams. One goes into the left eye and the other goes into the right (the exact technology that achieves this varies, but it requires special hardware, like special glasses that only allow a frame of video to go through one eye at a time, and alternates at a rate too fast to notice). The two streams would have slight differences in the image that give the illusion of 3D. The same way that your left eye sees slightly different from you right eye.
