Answer:	The Hot Shoe located at the base of the Mixer is threaded onto a Metal Post that screws into the Under Panel. It is secured by a tiny Phillips Screw inside the Threaded Post. I have not removed it to check because I need it mounted to a DSLR Hot Shoe, but it looks like that indeed that Post is removable.

Answer:	Technically, you could. However, you would be left with only a left/right channel. That means some of the lavs would be on the same channel once recorded. If you need four lavs recorded, definitely get the Tascam DR-60DmkII or DR70. you'll get cleaner audio and 4 separate tracks.

Answer:	I don't know why you would, save for having three different recording sources to mix, but it should work as the left and right are directly attached to the stereo inputs. The xlr inputs are stereo as well, so you could use those as the left and right if you were unsure.
