Answer:	The USB connector is there to provide power for the adapter - make sure it is plugged into a PC port or something like a cell phone charger. HDMI can be picky, depending on your destination device. Some monitors/TVs only accept certain resolutions or refresh rates, so double check your monitor's user manual to see if the resolution & rates match those put out by the converter. Also, make sure you aren't splitting HDMI (a digital signal) without using some kind of repeater (A powered splitter).
