I brush/comb my hair well before I get in the shower, then after shampooing I take a dab of condition, work it into the ends of my hair, and then start from gradually higher stroking down as I move in stages up toward scalp until I'm at the top. This way I don't break my hair. I have also used it with just shampoo, working up from the ends the same way as with condition, but with the shampoo already all over to help it glide. Good luck! I like to use this type of thing, and my husband with a scalp condition and coarse hair loves using these too.

Answer:	The cords are pretty long in fact. However, the connection to the block is not as snug as I would like. It still works well but I’m careful not to pull on connection.
