User questions & answers
Question: | Does this work with ps4 & xbox one |
Answer: | would not work for ps4 slim, not recognized. Until I rebooted the ps4 with the mic plugged in. evidently some kind of driver or config is adjusted, as it is now recognized and works. |
Question: | I hope this does not sound like a stupid question but am i suppose to hear my voice like a normal mic or not |
Answer: | go to your sound settings, then recording devices and on your snowball mic right click and go to properties. you want to find the settings where it says "hear this mic" |
Question: | USB real estate is at a premium on my PC. Is there one of these that DON'T plug into USB? That is, it plugs into the regular mic port |
Answer: | It's a USB Only microphone. If USB real estate is at a premium on your PC, buy an External USB Port Hub. I bought one, takes one of the 3 USBs my laptop has, gives me 8 additional. |
Question: | For singing videos, is it better to have the iCE or the regular Snowball |
Answer: | From what I've heard, the snowball does actually sound quite reasonably better. I suppose it'll have to be because of a number of reasons, 1 being that there's a $10-20 diffrence, and that this is marketed as a "Skype mic." I also believe that the blue snowball has wider diversity in colour. The blue snowball also features 3 different "modes" or polar patterns.First being a cardiod setting, a standard pickup pattern in most condenser mics, very handy. Mainly picks out sound in a heart shaped radius in front of the mic. Second setting is a cardiod, 10db pad. Good for loud sources, getting up close to the talent. The third and final setting is the omnidirectional setting. "Omni" meaning more than one, in this instance more than one direction. In this setting, the mic will pic up sound from all directions.doing so will loose some sound quality but maybe useful for recording a board meeting. Overall the blue snowball iCE is a great, compact usb microphone, for the tight budget market, or in other words a blue snowball, minus a few features and cheaper sound quality. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use as a microphone without a computer |

Question: | About 1 week ago, I saw this mic for $99 (not on sale) and usually ships 2-4 weeks, and now its $160+. What happened |
Answer: | I don't know, but check other markets I've seen Blue products bellow 100 dollors used I hope this helps. |
Question: | Does it come with a usb cable |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Debating between yeti nano and original yeti, which one is for long term use? i am new in this, not sure if will need to use it for advanced later. tq |
Answer: | Depends, what are you recording? Original yeti is large and a bit more versatile, you can record in 4 different audio direction, i.e omnidirectional, cardioid, bidirectional, and stereo making it ideal for recording YouTube videos, podcasts, large groups, or instrumentals. Yeti nano has 2 audio recording options , Omni and bidirectional, so made more for podcasts and YouTube videos. It’s also smaller. If you want to check out the nano I did a unboxing of the gold yeti nano, search on YouTube Julian Lonzoe yeti nano. It looks pretty awesome. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this microphone great for singing |
Answer: | Many people use the Blue Snowball to record singing and a the musical instrument they play. While I believe it is probably the best mic in this price range, don't expect a $60 mic to record as well as a $2500 professional studio mic. And remember, there are a lot of variables such as the acoustics of the room your distance from the mic, etc. So, is the microphone great for singing? Absolutely, for its price. Will it sound like an RCA 44BX studio mic? Not so much. As importantly, how well it performs is pretty subjective to your opinion. So buy on Amazon and try it. See how well you think it suits your purposes. If it doesn't suit, send it back within 30 days and move up to a more expensive mic. |
Question: | Do I need to speak into this mic up close? Or will it work from 3 feet away |
Answer: | If you're using it with Windows 8, 8.1, or 10 you will need third party software to boost the input signal. Distance from mic, within a few feet, doesn't seem to have a huge effect on voice volume. |
Question: | I usually have a fan running behind me, will the Snowball pick up the sound from the fan |
Answer: | The Snowball has three settings on it. "1" puts the mic in cardioid mode and only picks up sounds from directly in front while blocking out sounds from the sides and back. "2" is the same thing, but made for recording lous sources as it puts a -10 decibel pad to keep the mic from overloading and distorting. "3" sets the mic in omni mode, which means it picks up sounds from all directions. So to answer the question, if the fan is blowing directly at the mic, it may pick it up. I also have a fan of to my side and never had issues with it. |
Question: | When winter rolls around, can i throw the snowball mic at people? how fast does it melt |
Answer: | You do not need to wait for winter that is the beauty of the thing. Melting starts to happen about 338 degrees. Note it is about equal to taking that seriously ice-packed ball you packed tight when you were a kid, so throwing at people is likely to include injury, swears, or breaking things. |

The first professional USB mic, with dual capsules and three settings (cardioid, cardioid w/-10dB pad, & omni), the Snowball USB mic is perfect for podcasting and music recording. The Blue Snowball USB mic finally gives you a USB microphone that's not only easy to use, but that also sounds as good on your desktop as it does in a professional recording studio. Whether you're recording a guitar at your kitchen table or a complete band in the studio, the Blue Snowball captures the sound with the kind of detail unheard of before in a USB microphone. The Blue Snowball is a direct plug-and-play mic that connects to either a Mac or PC computer with no additional software needed. With its dual microphone capsule design and unique 3-pattern switch (cardioid, cardioid with -10dB pad, and omni), the Snowball handles everything from soft vocals to the loudest garage band - and it's an ideal mic for podcasting. The Blue Snowball has a unique swivel mount on the bottom the mic body. Be sure to position the Snowball over the center leg of your tripod (not included) to further prevent tipping. Once mounted, you can gently pivot the Snowball microphone back and forth for optimum positioning in front of the sound source. Once safely mounted, connect the Blue Snowball to the USB port on your Macintosh or Windows computer. Make sure that the active, on-axis side of the diaphragm (the side with the Blue logo) is facing the desired source. When connected, the LED just above the Blue logo glows red, indicating that the Snowball mic is powered up and ready to roll.
- USB Output: The USB output enables direct integration with a desktop or laptop computer, allowing CD-quality recording
- Dual Capsule Design: The dual capsule design incorporates omnidirectional and cardioid elements to give you a choice
- -10dB Pad: A -10dB pad switch eliminates noise and distortion when capturing signals at extreme volume levels
- Accessories Included: A desktop stand and USB cable are included so you can begin recording right away
User questions & answers
Question: | Does this work on a 2013 27 inch imac |
Answer: | Just checked with my iMac on Skype. Works perfectly!Enjoy the quality of sound! |
Question: | do this works with window |
Answer: | It does not properly with with Windows 8, 8.1, or 10. The microphone will be detected and can pick up audio, but the input level is low and there's no way to adjust it in Windows. If your recording software supports boosting the signal levels, it will work. Just don't try to use it for Windows voice commands or in any program that depends on Windows to boost the signal. Search the web for "blue snowball microphone quiet" for more information on the problem. |
Question: | is their any way to shut off the red power light on the front without having to unplug the usb cable at night when I turn my computer off |
Answer: | The entire device is powered by the USB, the light turns off when power to the device is cut off by either unplugging it or simply turning your computer off entirely. Sleep mode wont turn off the light because power still is going though the USB's. So in sort, it should simply turn off when your computer turns off. |
Question: | will it pick up the sound of my keyboard clicks if I am typing during a presentation |
Answer: | It depends on where you position the microphone with respect to the keyboard and which record mode you use. It's a very sensitive mike but has three recording modes - suggest you read the review here:http://www.cnet.com/products/blue-microphones-snowball-professional-usb-microphone/ |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come with a usb cable |
Answer: | No model of the iPads support wireless charging as of yet. |
Question: | How do you connect it |
Answer: | There really is no protection for the back camera when the case is closed (i.e..covering the screen). But I love the case. It is sturdy, has deep grooves for resting the ipad at an angle, swivels to use vertically, holds my stylus/pencil, works well to put the i-pad to sleep and wake it up. I only wish it came in brighter colors! And the price can't be beet! |
