Answer:	ANTENNA ANTENNA ANTENNA The extra watts will do less to improve transmission and reception than a quality antenna. As others have said, to increase your signal strength at the receiving radio by one S unit you have to quadruple the power output. The difference between the UV-5R standard radio and the "8 watt" "high power" radios is only a doubling of power. If you are on the move use the Nagoya 771 antenna (and watch you don't poke out your eye). Answer:	With the included antenna, you will get about 10 kilometers on open area land. About 5 kilometers in suburban settings. In urban settings, aabout a kilometer or two. In a boat, a bit further than 10kilometers. With the Nagoya extended antenna, you can make 20 kilometers, more or less, on open ground. However, use an external antenna on the roof of a building and you can double that range! Power does increase range. But, antenna increases range far more than more power.

Answer:	You can program these for whatever frequencies you want by downloading CHIRP and modifying the radio drivers with a text editor... Then just change the frequency range to 900mhz or whatever you want... I would not suggest trying to transmit at those frequencies but people have had some success with receiving frequencies out of band that way... Answer:	You cannot use this radio in any unlicensed frequency. It is not type accepted for any radio service and is therefore illegal to sell, advertise, market, or ship to anywhere in the US. It is probably legal to use in a Ham band if you have a ham license. Ham licenses come with some great benefits, such as being able to use un-aproved radios, it is well worth the effort to get one. BTW, I have two of these radios. They work about as well as a UV-5R, of which they are a derivative They just over-powered a 5 watt radio to make it spit out 8 watts. It gets you VERY little extra distance and the transmission is really really dirty. It blows all over the 2 meter bands. If you want to see what the FCC does to out of service marketing Google "FCC DA-18-980A1". This radio has no legal use in the US except on the ham bands by hams. It is very illegal to use for MURS and FRS, and not even OK for FMRS. It transmits so dirty it is pretty obvious to anyone with a good HR rig with a display or an FCC truck that you are using a BF-F8HP. It's got a rather unique signal signature. If you want a Baofeng get one of these. They are all certified part 90 which makes them legal to sell and ship, and no questions about using them for Ham use. And get a ham license, it really opens up your options. Answer:	Yes it will work great, just a little water, let it soak then scrape away. If you still have a problem with the glue just talk to your hardware person and they will recommend something to dissolve the glue, then just scrape away. I love my tool and use it all the time. Answer:	I have recently used this scraper to remove candle wax from a wood dining room table and to remove stuck on paper from a wood coffee table. Both without scratches. It is not as sharp as a razor blade. A lot depends on your paint. If you are concerned I would apply a solvent or heat to the label glue first.

Question:	where can I get the right software and cable for this? is there a car charger I can use for this? the ones I see are for the UV-5r...? thanks
Answer:	No car charger exists yet. You could find a 12 volt to 10 volt down-converter for a car and charge it in the base charger. The base charger needs an input voltage of 10 volts. Internally it converts the voltage to 8.4 volts for the battery. You must use the base charger because there is a LI-Ion charger inside of it.The Baofeng labeled cable used for the uv5r will work. Make sure you do not get the less expensive non-branded cable. The chipset on the non branded version is counterfeit and it will cause issues. If you have the non-branded version, the radio will transmit when the cable is plugged in and an unrecognized device problem occurs on the computer.The software can be found here: http://www.miklor.com/UV82/UV82-Software.php. Additionally the daily build of CHIRP software will work.
Question:	Is there a way to direct access any channel? If I have channels programmed, I try to push 27 (for example), but it never really goes to that channel
Answer:	Not sure BUT just use the up or down arrows to go to the (programmed) channel you want. This radio is more user friendly when you PC program in the channels you want to use on a regular basis. Mine was easy to program with CHIRP.
Question:	Can this be used to communicate with regular two way radios (i.e. midland, cobra) without having a license
Answer:	No matter what you read anywhere on the internet, this radio can only legally be used to transmit on the 2 meter and 70 centimeter amateur radio bands by licensed amateur radio operators with at least a Technician-class license. It is only Part 97 certified, which means that even though it can transmit and receive on FRS, GMRS, MURS, and lots of other frequencies, such use is illegal. By "regular" two way radios (i.e. midland, cobra), I assume you mean the FRS/GMRS "bubble-pack" radios. This radio can indeed communicate with them, but not legally. It is not Part 95 certified. In fact, in order to use GMRS, you are supposed to have a license for that as well.
Question:	It looks that I need HAM license to use these radios for twoway communication? can somebody recommend me one that doesn't? I need for fishing trip,thx
Answer:	Recent FCC changes in the law allows 2 watt FRS radio's and GMRS- (NO TEST) license has been changed from 5 years $70.00 to 10 years. You can apply on line for a FCC GMRS license and pay by credit card. GMRS allows you up to 50 watts of power. As ham radio operator for 52+ years (W8LM) and a certified FCC volunteer examiner, all too many hams push for people to commit to ham radio, when FRS, MURS and GMRS are perhaps a better alternative. Especially when they only want to use the radio's to contact family or while hunting or in a small business.. FRS-GMRS- MURS radio services are all short distance communications all though with certain conditions reliable communication can be had in a 20 mile radius.

Question:	What is the range for this radio
Answer:	Range is a tricky subject. There is stated range by the manufacturer, and then there is the realistic range of the radio which we call consistent range. The RMM2050 is a 2 Watt MURS radio, and operates on VHF frequencies. It does not do well indoors like a UHF radio would, but outdoors will travel 1 mile pretty consistently. Answer:	No knob it's on the side of radio there is 2 buttons it's the bottom one keep pressing it to change channels lady voice will tell you witch channel you are on
Question:	does this come preprogrammed to MURS
Answer:	The RMM2050 is designed specifically for MURS and is limited to only 2 Watts and to the (5) MURS frequencies. Also, the antenna is fixed.These are all limitations that are part of MURS. We use the radios for a comm system in our race car and it works fine on the straight(near the pits), but gets scratchy on the far side of the tracks we run at. I wish we could go with an antenna on a mast, but can'tbecause the antenna is fixed (which is why I mentioned it.) We like the radios.
Question:	Can this be on the same channel as walmart
Answer:	The radio is compatible with Walmart frequencies but be prepared to do some additional programming to match the privacy codes Walmart uses.

Question:	can you also use AA batteries to power these radios
Answer:	Yes you can, however the output power will drop drastically (form 5 to I think about 2W) with no indication on the display - it would still show “H” for High power. With the included battery pack though (which is essentially 5 1.2 NiMH AAA batteries in series) it achieves 5W transmit power. Which means if you buy it because of 5W output you must use battery pack. However battery pack does not last long. It is only 700mAh. Radio consumes 42mA on standby. So about 16 hours standby time if you don’t transmit. Charding time on the other hand is 12 hours. Make your own conclusions.
Question:	what is the best REAL range I can expect
Answer:	There are certainly many different choices available to folks regarding radio choices. Many consumers, however, fall into the trap of believing the misleading advertising that various manufacturer’s use to help sell their products, especially when they are in panic mode due to a natural disaster (like an earthquake) or (currently) various lock-down scenarios due to the latest overseas virus. One frequently used example of this buying trap are the claims of 35 to 50 mile range from 1/2 watt UHF FRS/GMRS handheld radios with non-removable antennas (frequently seen on various Cobra, Midland, Motorola, and Uniden radios sold at various big box stores or on the internet). At UHF frequencies (and with a decent antenna), you’ll normally get around 1 mile of range for every 1 watt of power on transmit, so a 1/2 watt big box store FRS/GMRS radio is likely to get only 1/2 mile of range, nowhere near the 35 to 50 mile claims shown on the box in large type (with the phrase “under optimum conditions” shown in very small type). What that means is that if one individual is standing near the cliff face on a tall 9,000 ft. high mountain and his friend is doing the same thing 35 miles away (with nothing between the two mountains but air), then they “may” get the 35 mile range as advertised. When both individuals are at ground level, normal range is reduced to a 1/2 mile (or less) depending upon obstructions that may be in their way.

Answer:	I called the FCC. If the radio goes beyond 2 watts, even if you are only using the lower-power channels, you still need to spend the $70 for the 10 year license. immediate family can use radios with your license (and you on the channel). GMRS will make for a better experience. I would just get it to be safe.
