Answer:	Not difficult at all. It's plastic. And has knotches every inch or so. You can use a hack saw.

The indicator arrow on the top of the motor was not working. also the bracket the trolling motor rides on was in a bind and I had to work on it to make it work. I think the motor had been returned and they sold it to me. The motor works fine after I had to work on it. Had I bought the thing at a store where I live I would have taken it back to exchange it.
