| Answer: | The best battery would be a deep cycle battery with a decent amp hour capacity. A 50ah deep cycle battery would be bare minimum in my opinion. My set up has a battery bank that adds up to 180ah and many folk have banks much larger than that. I'm talking "amp hours", not "cranking amps". Theres a big difference. You can put this inverter on a regular car battery but unless your running something that requires extremely little juice, the battery will go dead in no time at all. If you try to use this to run a high draw appliance from a regular car battery, it wont work at all in most cases. So many people who give these inverters bad reviews probably tried to run a microwave or other high draw appliance by hooking the inverter up to a regular car battery. Of course they think theres nothing wrong with their battery so the inverter must not work. In reality, their battery is at fault(and their ignorance of how all this stuff works). A regular car battery simply doesnt have the capacity to run anything that draws a significant amount of power. These inverters work fine 99% of the time as long as you pair them with batteries that can provide the power that you're trying to draw. So go grab yourself a deep cycle battery. Most "non solar" marine deep cycle batteries are rated at around 35ah. 35ah isnt a lot really but will work WAY better than a regular car battery. As I said, youd be better with at least a 50ah battery or better but they can get expensive($170 for a 100ah battery here on Amazon as I write). Good luck. |

| Answer: | Yes, as long as it runs off of 110VAC/60 Hz (standard output voltage of a wall outlet in the United States). I am an electrical engineer, and am intimately familiar with these products. The one caution or recommendation I have is to make sure you have large gauge wires at the input to the inverter. Bolt the large wires tightly to the battery or input voltage source as well as at the input to the inverter, taking note of any torque requirements and limitations as to not strip the threads. Be mindful that the current at the input will be high because it is operating from a low input voltage (about 13V). 550W at the output will require about 50 amps from the input source. I would use at least 10 AWG wire, maybe 8 AWG. Also be mindful that there is a voltage drop across the wire. The output of the input source might be 13V, but after the current travels thru say 3 feet of 10 AWG wire, there would be about 12.5V at the input to the inverter, which is within the inverter's specified input range. |

| Answer: | My April 2017 purchase shows as an AC source. Using a Samsung Galaxy Player 5 with the app "Battery Charge Source Current" by PromethylHosting.com and a standard USB data cord, the app indicates "Fast Charge...5vdc detected on Pins 1 & 4 and Pins 2&3 are bridged" for both ports. Now, whether that's accomplished via firmware on the charger or whether Pins 2&3 are truly shorted, I don't know. |

| Answer: | Pretty secure. So far I tried it on 2 cars. And it sits all the way in. It hardly sticks out. And if you try to pull it out, its pretty good in there and tricky to get out. Toughness to remove from a scale from 1 - 10 I would say 8. |

| Answer: | It's not necessarily a matter of support rather more one of fit in my case (2012 Mazda3). The flat bottom of the charger keeps the pin from contacting the bottom of the outlet. I noticed similar problems with many of the 1-star reviews, common thread being that it would not work in many Mazda's. All of the freebie chargers have worked in that outlet as did the Scosche Revolt 2-port charger I bought after returning the Aukey. These latter ones all have a more tapering cone shape to the tip. I hope this helps. |

However since at least stock cars generally have the cigarette lighter(s) fed through the ignition/accessory switch, that means the socket will be dead or shut off when you pull the car key. In that sense you could leave it plugged in because 99% of the time, when you switch the ignition on, it is to start your car. A typical drain (without device plugged in) would be measured in milliamps. |
