Answer:	Thanks for asking. This 2.5" drive enclosure (NST-266SU3-BK) has two external interfaces, eSATA or USB 3.0. If you are using USB 3.0 connection, the USB 3.0 cable will provide power to the drive, this called Bus-powered. If you are using eSATA, it comes with eSATA cable and a power cable to connect and get power via USB port. Answer:	To make sure what the topic is here, my comments are just about the Vantec enclosure and not about whatever drive + enclosure Vantec may sell. My drive, for what it's worth, though, and it doesn't matter, was a 225 GB HP drive pulled out of motherboard-fried HP laptop. I wanted to keep it because there was nothing wrong with it to hook as an external USB drive to either my desktop or a tablet.

Question:	What can i do with this drive using only one cable (not using the power via micro usb
Answer:	If your target drive is has a smaller capacity than your source drive this will not work as a stand alone solution. It can however be used to dock the target drive in. You must use software to clone your OS to a lower capacity HDD or SSD. This unit will not work for that as a stand alone solution. It's fairly easy to clone the OS partitions to a lower capacity target HDD with software like Macrium Reflect. There are plenty of videos on YouTube for moving an OS to a lower capacity HDD or SDD. As long as both drives have equal capacity this unit will work as a stand alone solution. If you wish to use this to clone a lower capacity HDD to a higher capacity this unit can do it. Using this or any unit to clone a lower capacity drive to a higher capacity drive will leave you with an unallocated partition on the target drive. This partition can be initialized and either used as a storage partition or it can be initialized and merged to give you one larger OD drive. A good example would be cloning a 1TB source drive to a 2TB target drive. If you do with with this devise unit your target drive will show up on your PC as a 1TB drive. You will have to go to Computer Management and initialize the other 1TB before it can be used. I find myself cloning 2TB OS HDDS to 1TB SSD more than anything else. Many if not most PCs made in the last few years came with a 2TB mechanical drive. It's far cheaper to buy a 1TB SSD than a 2TB SSD so this is the best way you get your PC upgraded to an SSD without buying an SSD of equal size and twice the price.
Question:	I have two ssds in my pc that i have spanned to form one drive. if i put those two drives in this and toggle to big mode, will it work? or lose data
Answer:	Certainly. I am doing the very same thing (too many hard drives?? ;-) )Occasionally my system "forgets" a drive (Win 7/64), so I just go to "computer management" and "disc management" and restore the drive letter. It's not a frequent occurance, and I REALLY like the Dock! Good Luck!
Question:	Max capacity per drive anyone? Anyone using 2 x 4tb samsung evo ssd's
Answer:	You need a little patience sometimes. I thought that something was wrong with the unit. It took me 6 hours to clone my 1TB HHD (about 1/3rd full) to my 1TB SSD, but the transfer was perfect and my laptop is operating much much faster. I tried cloning via the USB method, but kept getting error messages.

One-touch offline clone

1. Insert Source Disk into hard drive bay, then insert Target Disk into another.

Answer:	This is from my review back in May 2019 - done using Black magic speed test with WD SN 750 1 TB disk that I am still using -: On my "MacBook Pro i9 9850, 15" Touch/Mid-2018" it had 2274/2460 Mbs write/read speeds. On iMac (Retina 27", Late 2017 i5-7500), write/read speeds were 2105/2360. In other words, it was slightly faster on MBP i9 9850 HK Mid 2018 compared to iMac i5-7500 27" Late 2017. I installed 970 Evo Plus inside iMac, replacing fusion drives SSD and it is giving 2220/2809 write/read speeds. However, write speed is dropping down to 800s somtimes, related to other factors.

Question:	At unit the model you can set raid. can i set raid 5 start with 3 drives & later expand/grow array size by adding drive #4 and #5 without losing data
Answer:	You'll need a hard disk drive dock that can handle both IDE & eSATA HDs. This Orico won't do it. I own one of these, too. You'll need the EZO Ware 2 slot HDD dock, model 875 U3, or any model CAVALRY dual bay hard drive dock. Both of these models have two slots or "bays" for two different types of HDs....the old IDEs & the back slot for the newer eSATA HDs. This second slot will handle both 3.5" HDDs & 2.5" HDDs & SSDs (solid state drives). Very versatile. Now, if you can not find these 2 recommended models (that I also own & purchased here), you can just search hard drive dock stations that handle both eSATA & IDE HDDs. Be careful, because some newer models have 2 bays for eSATA & no slot for IDE. This because, as you have discovered, the IDEs are now obsolete. Just read the description carefully when ordering. In appearance, they will hold the drives vertically & not horizontally like the ORICO illustrated here. In other words they are drop-in's & not slide-in's. Hope that this helps you. I build a new computer every year & understand the problem of moving older stored data on "dated" hardware to newer hardware. Compatibility can be a problem. There is one other choice that AMAZON has carried: an adapter cable that has a USB male plug on one end & a 2-sided plastic adapter plug on the other end. One side of this plug on the end of the cable plugs into an IDE drive. The other side of the plug will plug into an eSATA drive, either 2.5" or 3.5." It would be slightly less expensive but is USB 2.0 standard & slower transfers. The docks listed above are USB 3.0 (& believe me, this is important & will save you hours of time during transfers) & will transfer your data to the newer eSATA HDs MUCH faster. Answer:	I tried that by starting with 4 drives and then adding a 5th. The 5th drive didn't get used until I reinitialized the array (losing the data). I don't know if a drive can be replaced with a bigger drive to grow the array over time. TL; DR: No, you have to build the array with the number of drives.

Question:	I don't want to loose my data, how should I do
Answer:	I had the same issue. To be honest, I used a portion of a left over 4x4 fence post and buried it into the ground. Cut out a 2x8 piece of wood, used a large lag bolt to connect the two and then screwed the light base to the 2x8. So far so good.

Answer:	Did you fully allow charge of backup battery before you turned it on. This is the longest lasting battery I have ever seen when allowed to charge properly. It will last for days even after several cloudy days BUT instruction said fully charge 1st.

Answer:	You can leave these lights out in a deluge of rain and they work fine. However, leaving them underwater for any length of time is a different story. The definition of IP65 protection will tell you these lights are good in rain and low-pressure water jets, but to withstand immersion in water, these would need an IP67 rating.. In other words, no, I wouldn't immerse them.
