User questions & answers
Question: | How much speaker wire does this kit come with |
Answer: | Yeah it can I have mine mounted under the seat of my 2014 chevy silverado double cab rear seat with 2 10 inch Fosgate subwoofer |
Question: | Will this fit in a 2017 Toyota Tacoma ? Wanted to make sure it’s enough wire |
Answer: | This amp is stable at 1 ohm. If you have two DVC subs then wire each 4 ohm coil in parallel, dropping the impedance to 2. Then take the subs and wire them in parallel together for 1 ohm. This process requires great subs like Orions or similar. But I will say from experience as I've done this with 2 12" Orion 2NT subs and the sound pressure would blow your hat off your head and strike the windshield. The power rating from Alpine is tested in the factory@4 ohm and it pulled 660watts RMS. So one ohm will make you think otherwise. |
Question: | Will this run two 600w rms subs |
Answer: | First of all you will likely need a capacitor to supply enough power to the amp during the peaks. SWR -12D4 wired in parallel will give it a 2 OHM load for the amp to produce 500W rms. That said you need an amp to make 750W rms to take a full advantage of type R 12 woofer. |
Question: | Why does it say 1200w Max on the box not trying to blow my speakers anyone know |
Answer: | It doesn't come with it but you can buy it separately. |

Description of RWK81: The Rockville RWK81 8 AWG (American Wire Gauge) amp kit has the following diferences over other amp kits on the market at this price point.. . 1. Our RCA cables are 100 % copper. These are top of the line RCA cables. . 2. Better Resistance: The only thing that really matters with wires is the resistance rating. This is a measurement of conductivity and how much signal is loss per foot of wire. Since Rockville wires are made with around 3 times as much copper as any other wire at this price point, these wires had a much better resistance rating which means they will transfer more power to your amps than the other brands.. . 3. We do not cheat you on the thickness of the wire. These are standard American wire gauge thickness. This is another reason our conductivity is better than anything else at this price point. Other brands in the market place write 8 gauge, but cheat you on the thickness. We are honest about the thickness.. . 4. The Rockville amplifier installation kits feature a new soft abrasion proof insulating jacket. This rugged PVC outer jacket allows for 100% improved flexibility over standard power cables making them extremely easy to route through your vehicles interior, and it maintains exceptional resistance to grease and oil. The PVC outer jacket can with-stand an extreme temperature range of -40 to 220 degrees F.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it Power 8 speakers in my van? Basic 6" crunch speakers |
Answer: | Yes it can. If they are 4ohm each speaker. If you wire two speaker per channel in parallel to each other this will work out great |
Question: | It says bridged 4ohm meaning I can only use 2 outputs at 4ohm? i have 4 speakers in my car |
Answer: | Yes bridged is designed to output more power but only one output per two channels. You can use the channels normally and connect four speakers but they will not be bridged, meaning less power but can wire down to 2 ohms. This should be fine if they're just midrange speakers. |
Question: | wha does class d refer to |
Answer: | A Class B amplifier DEMANDS a perfectly matched set of Push/Pull transistors on each channel, to form the waveform for that channel. You can expect about 50% of the rated power to be dissipated as heat. These were the Gold Standard for audiophiles, as getting perfectly matched Push/Pull transistors means screening hundreds/thousands of individual transistors to find a pair that met specs. A Class C amplifier is much cheaper, it uses an inductor/resistor set to store energy, and a single transistor to drain the stored energy. You may lose a little quality in the sound; but you save on heat, as these run on the order of 75-80% efficiency, compared to ~50% on the Class B Then we have Class D (Digital) that uses a switching based transistor, that switches far faster speed than any ear can hear (or speaker is capable of reproducing) to replicate the waveform. The result is ~90-95% (runs very cool), excellent sound reproduction, low heat means high reliability, and much lower costs. At least, low costs to the manufacturer - these will eventually become the standard amplifier for everyone, they will constantly get better sounding, higher powered and lower costing. They will also incorporate better and better features, such as active EQ, adjustable slope cross-overs, ambient noise reduction, etc. It's just a matter of math, processing power, and whatever the manufacturer decides to incorporate to set his product apart from the competition. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this amp over heat |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | What gauge size do they use for power and ground terminals? What gauge size for the speaker terminals |
Answer: | It recommends a 12 gauge wire kit. 8 gauge should be fine, anything bigger than that might cause issues |
Question: | I have this amp in my truck my 6x9 in the front are scratchy now what 6x9 will best suit this amp |
Answer: | You can bridge it down to 2 channels (100 watts) and run a couple of 4ohm woofers. Obviously its not going to give you any crazy performance or really drive the woofers, but if you are just looking for some added bass, yes it will work. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the R500x1D come with the remote or is it sold separately |
Answer: | It comes with the remote. I thought it didn't so I bought one for it and it already comes with it so I have two now |
Question: | Does this amp provides High (Speaker) Level Inputs so it could be connected to a factory head unit |
Answer: | I know this is late, but it may help others. Yes it does and you can tie into signal at rear speaker wires. The built in crossover will allow use of a sub woofer. Only drawback to this set up is that if you turn down head unit bass for doors ect. it also affects sub amp. HU built in crossover would be better for a balanced and more adjustable sound. This requires the HU to be upgraded however. A line output converter is a good option too even if you have low input ability. Makes for a neater install IMO. Bottom line is that it is dooable. Good amp too. Birthsheet is 648 watt @ 2 ohm 14.4 v on mine. In vehicle at idle in real life I average 629 using amp draw and voltage formula, I also own the P300-1 which pushes about 415 @ 2 ohm real life wattage. Birth sheet of 426. Banging for years in wife's ride on that one no issues. The new one rocks good so far in my ride. Love these amps. So much power for the size. Also as a D class amp they are efficient and take less away from the vehicle power system causing less strain. Bang some high power AB amps for a few years and your whooping on that alternator and battery shortening their lives. Less light dimming too. |
Question: | Does this amp have an auto turn on feature so I dont have to wire up a remote turn on |
Answer: | Another option in which I chose since it does need turn on signal is to use an added retained accessory power relay or just a simple relay. Your going to remove side panels to run RCA anyway so tap easily into a 12v power source when vehicle acc is on which can be found closest to amp position that is passing to rear of vehicle already. I used this one from Radio Shack. Model: 275-233 Catalog #: 2750233 0.5-AMP SPST REED RELAY AT 12VDC. This set up should be used to turn on multiple amps and relieve the head unit circuit. No tiny wire to run either. Although if this wire is just attached to RCA prior to install for a 1 amp install then this is the easiest way. If you use the relay then remember to fuse it to protect the head unit circuit. |
Question: | is this amp 4 or 8 awg power and ground |
Answer: | It has 4 awg connections for both power and ground. I am using mine with 8 awg wire and it runs perfect. I am not running it at max gain though. Only using it to run one 10" L7! |
