Question: | Will it hold a Nikon D7100 with a Sigma |
Answer: | No, the Prostaff has an optical system created from lead-and-arsenic-free Eco-Glass. Multilayer coatings, which provide high light transmittance across the entire visible light spectrum, are applied for bright images. User questions & answers
Question: | The description says "Universal ball head design with 2 locks and 360 degree dial..." Are there separate locks for panning and the ball position |
Answer: | I have had a 1DSMKii with a 600L lens on it and the ball head held it fine. That said it was more a test per say, not sure I would feel to great on using the head for that particular combo routinely, but in a fix with me right there, it will do. Just need to make sure the lock knob is very tight. Also thought tilt pan is pretty good, not the smoothest head by any means and the tension knob has very little fine tune adjustment. |
Question: | Does this allow for vertical photos? I am taking pictures of dresses |
Answer: | If you will be doing a lot of "portrait" format photography, like dresses, you really want to get an inexpensive L bracket like the 3 Legged Thing QR11-LG Universal L-Bracket. Then you can easily mount your camera in the verticle orientation on the tripod. |
Question: | As a retired photographer I have a number of medium aluminum Bogen tripods..How does this compare |
Answer: | I don't have a Bogen although I know their rugged reputation. I have found the Neewer carbon fiber tripod to be very light weight, less than half the weight of my aluminum heavy duty tripod. I am in France now, using it with a Nikon d7100 and some fairly heavy telephoto lenses and it is rock steady. Very easy to use and set up. The quick lock camera mount and shoe are easy to use and has no play in it at all. Really like. Has a nice hard case cylinder with strap for carrying. One of the reasons I got it is that is very compact and fits in my luggage easily for traveling. |
Question: | This looks like the MeFoto (by Benro), but much cheaper. However, I'm wary of buying from "knock-off" brands. So, is this as good as the MeFoto |
Answer: | Newer makes stuff in all ranges of quality. I have stuff from them that has been fantastic, this being one of them and I wouldn’t call them a knock off co. Either. I’ve bought stuff that cost 3-4 less. So look at how often you need it and how you will use it. I’ve had this thing everywhere and watche my buddy struggle wit a high dollar one. I could buy 5 like mine for what he paid for his. You’ll see all kinds of stuff made by newer with different names on them. They are a rock solid company with super customer service and yeah, they make some inexpensive stuff for people who don’t have big bucks to buy the fancy crap so they can still reach it on a tight budget. I do a lot of Astro with this so some of my work requires heavy gear and this works great. |
Question: | Do you get 60x worth of zoom? And is it clear at high power |
Answer: | I did not consider the max zoom acceptable. I did not feel the image was clear. It required a tripod for any hope of focus at that distance; even then it was not clear. I returned the them for a refund. |
Question: | how are they for star gaze n planets |
Answer: | They are ok, a telescope would be better for star gazing & planets. |
Question: | Can you read a newspaper from 25 feet |
Answer: | Certainly not. The quality of the lenses were really poor on this model so I returned it. |

Capable of handling the weight of a professional full-frame DSLR camera with a heavy long telephoto lenses, or even a large format (4x5) field camera, The PRO 700 DX offer professional photographers and advanced amateurs the strength and stability they need while its size, and the use of A. M. T. alloy, make it lighter weight and more portable than THE PROFESSIONAL series. The PRO 700 DX makes setting up easy with secure yet fast speed release leg locks, gearless center column, and 3 position adjustable angle leg locks for easy set up on uneven ground or steps. The PRO 700 DX center column is actually two threaded pieces that unscrew to convert the top piece to a short column. This combined with the adjustable leg angle locks allows the tripod to be lowered to just 15 inches for very low angle or macro photography in the field. The included PRO 700 DX all-metal 3-way pan head has one of the fasted and easiest to use quick release plates in the industry. SLIK made a circular quick release plate that can secure the camera to the tripod pointing in any direction, making attaching your camera (once the SLIK quick release plate is attached) more intuitive than most other heads that have squared off or angled plates.
- Aluminum, Magnesium, Titanium-Alloy Legs
- Flip Locks, Rubber Feet, 3-Position Leg Angle Locks
- Reversible, Multi-Section Rapid Column
- 700DX 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head
- Quick Release Plate, 1/4"-20 Mount
User questions & answers
Question: | Is the head detachable? Possible to change heads from what comes along |
Answer: | Yes. It has a standard 3/8 inch mount so you should be able to mount any head (with standard threading) to the tripod. |
Question: | Am I correct in assuming this works with a Canon 70 D; and with a heavy and long 200 mm zoom? Thanks |
Answer: | Short answer, Yes. This tripod is strong enough to handle any 35mm format camera and lens combo (less than 20lbs of total weight). If you’re using a lens that weighs more than the camera body you should use a lens mount to the tripod head to prevent the mounting ring on the camera body from bending or warping. Also, at a rating of almost 20lbs, this tripod should work for any medium format camera and many large format cameras as well! |
Question: | will this work with a spotting scope or is it set up primarily for cameras |
Answer: | “In General” spotting scopes and cameras (film SLR, DSLR, mirrorless, video...) use a standard 1/4 inch attachment that is on almost all (haven’t seen one that doesn’t) tripod heads. Tripods are typically sold as a set of legs and head, but they can be found separately. Legs connect to the head typically through a 3/8 inch connector. The head to the camera or scope through a 1/4 inch connector. For a spotting scope, you’ll probably be happiest with a video type tripod head, but in general, any head should work just fine. |
Question: | Curious to know if the Pro 700DX works well for occasional video applications. Have a D-4, and would like to take some video of my Whippet running |
Answer: | Sorry this is so late, but hopefully this will help. As far as stability is concerned, this tripod won't let you down. However, for video, panheads just aren't the best way to go. This particular panhead is very smooth and will work decently for video and outperform most other panheads I have dealt with, but you're really going to want a different head for video if you intend to use this tripod. The stability and versatility you get with this tripod are phenomenal for the price. You could buy the legs only (around $100 right now on Amazon) and get a fluid video head (EI-717AH for around $75 on Amazon) and have a great video tripod package for the same price as the 700DX with the panhead. That would be the route I would go if I was planning on shooting video with my tripod. |

AMT Alloy
Slik’s exclusive A.M.T. alloy has a 40% greater strength to weight ratio than standard aluminum. The legs are lighter weight yet stronger than the standard metal used in most of today’s tripods. A.M.T brings the tripod weight closer to a carbon fiber tripod of the same size
Maximum Height
The PRO 700 series gets the camera to eye level on most people without having to raise the center column. With the center column raised the tripod reaches over eye level to up to 76.8 inches depending on which head it used
Multi-angle legs locks
The 3-position adjustable angle leg locks can lock each leg independently at a different angle to make it easy to set up on uneven ground or steps
Flip locks
The SLIK PRO 700 series makes setting up easy with secure yet fast speed release flip leg locks that do not snap back at you when locking. One finger operation is all that is required to open or close each leg lock
PRO 700 DX
The most popular, the original PRO 700 DX comes with the heavy-duty, all aluminum 3-way pan head. This is one of the fasted and easiest to use quick release plates in the industry. SLIK made a circular quick release plate that makes attaching your camera more intuitive than other square or angled heads. Available in natural silver or black legs
PRO 700 BHX
The PRO 700 BHX ball head uses the same circular quick release system as the PRO 700 DX tripod head. The Slik Ball Head SBH-808 has one of the fastest and easiest quick release plates in the industry while also having a separate pan lock so once the camera is leveled it can move horizontally for panoramic photography
PRO 780 DX
The SLIK Pro 780DX uses a new SH-807E all-metal 3-way pan head. This head has improved internal components for smoother movements and improved, larger rubberized grips for more comfortable control. The head has well over a solid pound of finely cast and precisely machined aluminum

The New Sprint Pro III series tripods are built to travel. Whether a quick sunrise at the beach or an expedition to Iceland, the Sprint series delivers rock solid performance in a travel ready package. The new Rapid Flip Mechanism (RFM) provides an easy and simple way to adjust the leg angles to go from as low as 6. 5 inches off the ground to as tall as 63. 2 inches with the column extended (measured at the top of the pan head). The Pro III 3-way pan head model weighs 2. 6 lbs. but can support 4. 4 lbs. of camera equipment. To put that in perspective; a Sony a7rIII full frame camera with 16-35mm f2. 8 lens attached weighs 3 lbs. The head is compact but mighty and can support all that weight at any angle without drift or slacking. Each leg is made up of 4 sections and the height is adjusted using the simple to use flip-lock design for solid slip-free operation. All 3 legs are outfitted with streamlined rubber grips for easy handling. The center column can be separated for low-angle work and inverted so that you can shoot straight down over your subject. Great for shooting macro. The Sprint Pro III 3-way GM sports a Gun-metal grey finish, includes the SH-704E 3-way Pan head with quick release plate. The Sprint Pro III tripod series is ready to go anywhere and look good doing it.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the max weight capacity for this monopod |
Answer: | It is made of plastic. |
Question: | Does the foot of the monopod unscrew? If so, what are the threads |
Answer: | Probably |
Question: | Will I need other parts |
Answer: | Yes, it all came in one package. |
Question: | There's no mention of the monopod's length when fully extended. Has anyone checked |
Answer: | Yes, it has the standard 3/8" female thread along with a couple of insert 3/8" threaded bolts for either male or female threaded standard heads. For example I can fit my Manfrotto 804RC2 head--however at 700g versus 300g for the one this comes with, it adds to the top-heaviness. Also the original neatly fits into the slingbag which not only weighs a lot less than full-size tripod, but is much less of a bore to cart around. This portability is the main reason to buy this one, especially for travel. |

User questions & answers
Question: | When you spin the rubber foot "up" can you attach a 3/8" universal monopod base to it |
Answer: | I would say "No" based on just looking at it. There is a pointed tip that goes out beyond the threads so I cannot imagine the base being able to thread onto this foot because the rubber movable tip does not come off-it just adjusts for dirt or concrete. |
Question: | Can I hold on to the grip and put my camera on the other end to take photos and videos of myself? Also, is this monopod waterproof |
Answer: | No its not possible to hold on to the grip and place ur camera at the other end. It doesnt have the functionality to do so. This is not one of those monopods that you can take selfies with. And when you mean it can get wet and will not hinder its functions? Then yes |
Question: | What is the collapsed length of the monopod |
Answer: | Completely collapsed, the monopod is 21 3/8" long (54.3 cm). When packed in the included case, it's 22" (55.9 cm). |
Question: | Can the Non-skid rubber foot be unscrewed (removed) in order to connect to the top of a tripod as an extension |
Answer: | The answer is, not easily. The screw isnt threaded all the way. It is push in fitting into the pole. Also the spike is part of the screw. You can rip it out, tap the plastic end cap to accept the 3/8 male to 1/4 female adaptor that come with it and then thread on your tripod foot. It will be extra work and you need threading tools but for $18 you may still come out well ahead. You might also be able to buy a 1/4 stud with the same type push in fitting. I have pictures but no way to post it here. |
Product description
This compact, lightweight ballhead is ideal for any point-and-shoot digital or film camera. The head features an easy to use single-lever release that locks the camera into place with one single action. Differing itself from many inexpensive ball heads on the market, the base of this head can rotate in addition to the ball movement. This makes horizontal movement of the camera much faster and easier. Speedy Attachment Without a Quick Release's Additional Weight Just 3 or 4 half-turns of the mounting platform attaches the camera to the ballhead, and the underside of the platform is ergonomically designed to aide in this task. Slik's solution here is slightly slower than snap-in and at least as fast as 'vise grip' quick release assemblies, but eliminates their size, weight and cost.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the top plate be replaced with slik dc-10 quick releae adapter |
Answer: | Yes you may put a gimbal zhiyun crane 2 on this product but it may not be that stable. |
Question: | i can't seem to attach to monopod with 1/4" screw. How do I do this |
Answer: | I have had three (3) of these over the past years. Used each one of them a lot. I lost one, I broke the lock on one and the third is still doing fine. I NEVER had a problem with the 1/4-20 screw breaking or coming loose. I've slung the triple over my should with my Nikon D300 and a 70-300MM lens hanging off and it stayed tight. Yes, I have always thought that the screw was the weakest part but it held firm. |
Question: | Does anyone know if the slik sbh-100 fits onto a slik 450g tripod? my original one broke and i need an inexpensive replacement. thanks |
Answer: | Longest is about 5' and shortest is about 2' |
