Answer:	I did not even use the mini disc with my Mac. Once the cables are connected, open up Quick Time Player from your apps and click on File > new movie recording. A video box will pop up with a record button. There's a little arrow drop down to the right of the record button that you need to click to select AV to USB2. Hit the record button and play the VCR tape and it's that simple. Works great!

Answer:	You can use OBS Studio which is free. Setup is a little un-intuitive but you can figure it out. VLC media player has a video capture function that you can use but you'll have to dig around to find the settings for it and I could not get VLC to display the video it was recording while recording but it was there during playback. There is honestech software that comes with some versions of this gizmo on amazon. One of them has a link for the software which you can download. It works with this gizmo too. They are all basically the same hardware internally.
