User questions & answers
Question: | Le queda a una Nikon D |
Answer: | Nikon provides a compatibility chart that shows the limitations (if any) with their lenses. I'll try and paste the link here, but if that does not work you can easily find the chart on the internet. http://www.nikonusa.com/en_INC/IMG/Assets/Common-Assets/Images/Teleconverter-Compatibility/EN_Comp_chart.html |
Question: | is the 18-140mm a wide angle lens |
Answer: | No, it won't. That lens is not on the compatibility list at nikonusa.com. There is another website that explains teleconverters in a fair amount of detail, and it doesn't list the 28-300 mm lens either. https://backcountrygallery.com/all-about-teleconverters-tcs/ |
Question: | Will this len work with Nikon D |
Answer: | The D500 Yes. I don't know about the lens but Nikon could give you the answer. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it be used with the sony alpha a |
Answer: | Maybe there is a Metabones adapter that can be used to convert Nikon lens on Sony bodies. |
Question: | Is there any kind of warranty on this? if so how long does it last for |
Answer: | Warranty usually for one year. This is solid lens. I used Nikon lenses for 20 years and gifted them to friends. Go ahead and buy. This is best lens for everything. |
Question: | Please don't shoot me, how does this compare with 24-70 2.8 as a general walk around lense. I am investing in a 750, don't know which lens to buy |
Answer: | lighter, that extra focal length would help plenty for a general walkaround lens. with a 750's low light performance, you wouldn't feel like you're missing out on the extra stops of light that the 24-70 provides. plus the 24-120mm is alot more bang for your buck. Honestly you only need the 24-70 if you're looking to shoot professionally, and need the blazing performance. otherwise the 24-120 is lighter, more versatile, and plenty of lens for the price. |
Question: | How does this lens compare with the Nikon 18-140? I am looking for a good walk around/travel lens. Is this one worth the extra money |
Answer: | I assume from your question that you use a crop sensor (DX) camera. The 24-120 f/4 is designed for full frame (FX) cameras (although it will work on DX as well). The downside is you're carrying around that extra weight (lenses for full frame are heavier) for very little additional optical resolution. While I only shoot FX (and may not be the best person to comment) the 18-140 (DX) lens has great reviews on Amazon. You might also take a look at reviews on DPReviews and Ken Rockwell. My guess is it would be a very good choice for walking around lens. |

Question: | Will this fit a nikon coolpix b500. we are thinking about buying one |
Answer: | Well, first of all, it's a less expensive. I'm not a brand purist, and saw that the Sigma had very good reviews, which I can confirm. I've also used this lens as my go to travel lens and it has not disappointed. It is compact, light and of excellent quality. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How does it perform on nonstabilized a6000 or a |
Answer: | On its own, no. This lens uses a Canon EF mount, but I use mine on my A7R with a Sigma MC-11 adapter and it works fine with that. |
Question: | Can i use this lens with Sony A |
Answer: | You would have to purchase for a Canon as the mount to camera is different than Nikon. They make both |
Question: | Is this for asp-c only? ie not for the a7 series |
Answer: | I recently purchased Canon Rebel T7i. This lens works with it. Canon uses standard lens mounts across all cameras, so this lens will mount on any Canon camera, but it will work correctly only with cameras which use reduced size (APS-C) image sensor, which usually means low to mid range. |
Question: | Would it work on a dslr |
Answer: | Nataraj, try looking up the ASIN number. That might help you out. I bought a kit from Goja right before christmas. I had pretty much the same question on a Sigma 18-250 kit. It was the latest lens, and thourally enjoyed it. Enjoying it. |

A new solution for mirrorless camera users. Combining F1.4 brightness in a compact body Introducing a high-performance, large-diameter wide-angle lens
The new SIGMA 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary is the world’s first interchangeable lens for mirrorless Sony E-mount and Canon EOS M* cameras in the APS-C format to offer a 24mm focal length (35mm equivalent) and F1.4 brightness. The lens for Micro Four Thirds offers a 32mm focal length (35mm equivalent) with the same f-number of 1.4. This is the large-diameter wide-angle lens for which mirrorless camera users have been waiting.
Developed to feature a lightweight, compact package for everyday use, SIGMA DN lenses for mirrorless cameras deliver superior performance covering the key focal lengths. The new lens builds on the success of the 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, which SIGMA released in 2016 as the first in a new series of prime lenses for mirrorless cameras. The 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary also combines F1.4 brightness with top-level optical performance.

Diffraction MTF
There are two types of MTF chart. One considers the diffraction quality of light, which is called “Diffraction MTF”, and the other, “Geometrical MTF” does not.
The quality of light appears in the diffracted light, and becomes more distinct as the F value gets bigger, resulting in lower image quality. Also, diffracted light exists at every aperture, which is why SIGMA has been releasing Diffraction MTF data from the beginning since it is very close to the actual image data.
The readings at 10 lines per millimeter measure the lens’s contrast ability (red lines), repeating fine parallel lines spaced at 30 lines per millimeter measure the lens’s sharpness ability (green lines), when the aperture is wide open.
Geometrical MTF
The advantage of using “Geometric MTF” data is that it is easy to measure and calculate since it does not consider the diffraction quality of light, yet it tends to show higher values in the graph than actual images.
The readings at 10 lines per millimeter measure the lens’s contrast ability (red lines), repeating fine parallel lines spaced at 30 lines per millimeter measure the lens’s sharpness ability (green lines), when the aperture is wide open.

PETAL TYPE LENS HOOD LH716-01*
FRONT CAP LCF Ⅲ 67mm
REAR CAP LCR Ⅱ
*The lens hood cuts harmful rays that can negatively affect photographs while also minimizing reflectivity within the hood itself. The hood also features a rubber construction and a non-slip groove to make it easy to hold in a variety of shooting situations.
SIGMA WR CERAMIC PROTECTOR 67mm (Optional)
With many applications in aerospace and other industries, glass ceramic is an extremely tough type of crystallized glass that serves as the foundation for Clear Glass Ceramic. While featuring the high transmittance required of optical devices, this advanced new material combines greater hardness than chemically strengthened glass and greater flexibility than sapphire crystal glass. These qualities make Clear Glass Ceramic the ideal material for protective lens filters.
Bright prime functionality to experience photography at its best
A bright prime lens is the ideal way to experience the essence of the art of photography. Simply select a focal length that matches the image and enjoy complete control of the depth of field. The 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary is the world’s first interchangeable lens for mirrorless Sony E-mount and Canon EOS M cameras in the APS-C format to offer a 24mm focal length (35mm equivalent) and F1.4 brightness. The lens for Micro Four Thirds offers a 32mm focal length (35mm equivalent) with the same bright F1.4 aperture. This is the large-diameter wide-angle lens for which mirrorless camera users have been waiting.
Designed to minimize flare and ghosting with a rounded diaphragm creates an attractive blur.
The 9-blade rounded diaphragm creates an attractive blur in the out-of-focus areas of the image.
From an early stage in the lens design process, flare and ghosting have been measured to establish an optical design resistant to strong incident light sources such as backlighting. SIGMA’s Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting to help photographers produce sharp and high contrast images even in backlit conditions. The included lens hood can be attached to block out extraneous light, which can have a negative effect on rendering performance.
Outstanding optical performance and build quality
The SIGMA 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary features SIGMA’s inner focus technologies, while lighter lens elements in the focus lens group make possible a more compact actuator. Moreover, this lens offers outstanding stability whether the photographer is shooting handheld or has the camera placed on a surface. Structurally, the lens features materials and parts that contribute to its compact, lightweight structure. In summary, this is an unprecedented lens that combines outstanding optical performance with exceptional portability and usability.
The mount features a special sealing to make the lens an excellent choice in a wide variety of conditions.
*Except for Canon EF-M mount
High-precision, rugged brass bayonet mount
The brass mount combines high precision with rugged construction. Its treated surfaces and enhanced strength contribute to the exceptional durability of the lens.

User questions & answers
Question: | how well would this do to shot a large group of people. i am shooting a wedding and they would like a picture of all the guests |
Answer: | This lens does not work on the A7Rii, at least without the adaptor. This is an A mount lens, and that is a full frame camera. If you get the adaptor for converting A mount to E mount, it will work. There is no crop, since this is a full frame lens. I am not so sure how the A mount to E mount convertor works, since I have no experience with it. If you would like some more info about this lens, then you should check out the review I have on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use it, and also has sample images. The review is for the Canon model, but the info about the lens is still valid (just ignore the stuff specific to Canon). Question: | For shooting at the Grand Canyon will I be fine with a 60D/10-22mm combo or should I just rent a Mark II with the Canon 16-35mm |
Answer: | Heavier. Less expensive. Autofocus just as fast. Very well constructed. |
Question: | Does this lens have image stabilization |
Answer: | The lens will fully function with the R as long as the R to EF adapter is used |
Question: | Does this work with Canon EOS 70D . I do not see 70D listed in the compatibility list |
Answer: | A lens hood should come with it. Mine did. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this lens compatible with a canon 1dx mark ii |
Answer: | Hello. I take a dish rag, pour alcohol on it, place it inside the unit. I then use a long wooden kitchen spoon to move the rag around to clean the build up. For the harder to reach areas, I have a long thin brush that was originally purchased in a 3 brush set to clean my fish tank. Those work great. I also use q-tips dipped in alcohol to clean the inside of the detachable parts. Hope this helps |
Question: | I have a canon rebel T7, is this lens compatible with my digital camera |
Answer: | The opening isn't large enough to get your hand inside. I just fill it about half full of vinager and swish it around to clean |
Question: | Does this include a tripod mount |
Answer: | I have three of these units for over three years ... Extra Strength cleaning Vinegar (no bleach) ... Two cups and a sponge (small foam brush will work, also) ... I have large hands ... Rinse with Hot Water ... I fill with Reverse Osmosis water ... I live in Las Vegas, NV ... It's dry heat ... |
Question: | Is this compatible with Canon Mirrorless M |
Answer: | It just goes low to high, I set mine on high round the clock, I have a fire burning most of the time in the winter as well as the heat pump, so it stays extremly dry in the winter here. I use mine in the bedroom, but am considering getting another one for the family room. |

Question: | Do I need to purchase a mount for this lens for my Nikon D |
Answer: | EX is Sigma's pro series lens (called EX finished), DC means it is for crop sensor cameras (DG for full frame), OS stands for Optical Stabilization (Image Stabilization) and HSM means it has hypersonic AF motor which is driven by untrasonic waves to provide a quiet operation. |
Question: | Wil this Sigma Lens work on Nikon d |
Answer: | The A6000 is an E-mount while this lens is an A-mount, so you will need an adapter like the LA-EA4. |
Question: | Is it weather sealed? yes it is. at least at the mount, willoughby's camera answered this incorrectly. just fyi |
Answer: | It does. That is an F mount camera, and this lens has the F mount on it. Keep in mind it is a third party lens, and they make the same lens with different camera mounts. Be sure you have the Nikon version selected before you check out. If you would like some more info about this lens, then you should check out the review I have on my profile. Answer: | On Amazon, once the order is placed, the price will not go up. I think if it goes down they will actually refund you the difference if they have not shipped it, though I am not sure this is something they still do. But you never pay more once the order is placed. If you would like some more info about this lens, then you should check out the review I have on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use it, and also has sample images. The review is for the Canon model, but the info about the lens is still valid (just ignore the stuff specific to Canon). SIGMA’s Art line: a focus on high resolution
The large-diameter standard zoom ideal for today’s ultra-high-megapixel digital cameras
To fulfil the uncompromising image quality standard of the Art line, this lens features a power distribution that has been optimized in exacting detail. This is the lens for those who desire consistent resolution at maximum F2.8 brightness or lower and complete control of the beautiful bokeh effect.
Smooth bokeh and minimised flare.
Made in Japan
All Sigma products, lenses, cameras and flash units are manufactured exclusively by Sigma in Sigma’s own factory in Aizu, Japan. No Sigma Corporation product – lens, camera or flash – is manufactured outside of Japan. This is very unusual these days, as most companies have at least some of their products produced outside of Japan because of cost considerations.
There's a reason why SIGMA continues to insist on the very highest quality in its product manufacturing: our love of photography is second to none.
We deeply appreciate the photographer's desire to record and express—the passion of the photographer.
We understand the need to capture the moment that gives rise to a unique work
Incorporating advanced aspherical lens processing technology
Aspherical lenses necessitate refined expertise in the design and manufacturing of advanced, high-performance lenses. SIGMA’s representative products to feature this technology were the SIGMA 12-24mm F4 DG HSM | Art and SIGMA 14mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art, which both incorporated large 80mm aspherical lenses as their front lens element. Building on the success of these predecessors, the SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Art incorporates an aspherical lens element that helps achieve extremely high resolution. This element is much thicker at the center than the edges, and forming its unusual shape is a feat of manufacturing technology. Moreover, SIGMA processes the surface of this aspherical lens element with ultra-precise tolerances that are measured in hundredths of a micrometer. This extremely fine surface allows the SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Art to deliver a very natural and smooth bokeh effect, without the visible concentric rings that afflict typical aspherical lens elements.

User questions & answers
Question: | Please tell me if this 1 more expensive lens could be used to obtain the similar quality images than 3 less expensive lenses that I am looking at -- 35mm prime f/2.4, 50mm prime f/1.8, the kit 18-55mm lens. I am on a budget and new to SLRs...thanks in advance |
Answer: | It is not a fisheye lens. Lines appear fairly straight. I am a real estate broker and have liked using this lens to capture small spaces (bathrooms, pantries, closets, hallways, etc.). |
Question: | Does this lens work on the 70D? Looks like it'd be a great lens for video and stills |
Answer: | I haven't used the 35mm but i can assure you the image quality is better than the 50 f1.8 or the kit lens. This sigma will serve you well as a starter lens and actually shouldn't be something you immediately feel like upgrading. Primes are well and good if you are ready for them but zooms are better for starting out. if you test out different focal lengths you can find out what prime lenses will work best for you. you don't want to buy a 35mm just to find out you'd rather have a 24, etc. |
Question: | Is it work with Canon 5D mark II |
Answer: | Yes it does work and it is a great lens. You will be happy with the picture quality and sharpness. |
Question: | EX DC OS HSM, what does these abbreviation means |
Answer: | It should work but it's not the best choice. The 5D is a full frame camera, and the Sigma is for APS-C sensors (smaller sensor). You will see vignetting (black area at edge of picture). You should consider the Sigma 24-60mm 2.8 instead, or check this list for other Sigma lenses for full frame cameras: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Full-Frame-Lens-Substitutes-Sigma/lm/R1XMV8PZXQALTP |

User questions & answers
Question: | How is this lens for Real estate and architecture |
Answer: | This lens is for crop sensor cameras. It will fit on the 6D body, but you will get heavy vignetting because it's not designed for a full frame sensor that's on a 6D. I don't recommend buying this for your camera. |
Question: | How is this lens for Real estate and architecture |
Answer: | There's a guide to lens acronyms here: http://www.howtogeek.com/169552/what-do-all-the-letters-acronyms-and-numbers-on-my-camera-lens-stand-for/In the case of this particular Sigma lens, EX = "Professional lens body finishing and construction", DC = "Supports cropped-frame cameras (lightweight construction, smaller image circle)", HSM = "Hyper-Sonic Motor", ELD = "Extraordinary Low Dispersion" and SLD = "Special Low Dispersion", which describe glass elements in the lens. |
