12 best 35mm films
35mm film is a widely used format in the world of photography and filmmaking. It has been a standard for many decades and continues to be relevant in both analog and digital contexts. Here's what you should know about 35mm film:
Film Format: 35mm film refers to a photographic film format that is 35 millimeters wide. The film is typically wound onto a spool or reel, allowing it to be loaded into cameras designed for this format.
Photography: In still photography, 35mm film is commonly used in 35mm film cameras. It's a popular choice for amateur and professional photographers due to its compact size and versatility.
Film Types: 35mm film comes in various types, including color, black and white, and slide film (also known as reversal or transparency film). Each type has its unique characteristics, such as color saturation, contrast, and grain.
Exposure Frames: A standard 35mm film roll typically contains 24 or 36 exposure frames, depending on the camera and film format. This limitation encourages photographers to be more selective in their shots.
Aspect Ratio: The standard aspect ratio for 35mm film in still photography is 3:2, resulting in images with dimensions of 36mm x 24mm. This aspect ratio is commonly associated with the "full-frame" look.
Film Speed: 35mm film comes in different ISO (formerly ASA) ratings, indicating its sensitivity to light.Lower ISO numbers (e.g., ISO 100 or 200) are suitable for bright conditions, while higher ISO numbers (e.g., ISO 800 or 1600) are better for low-light situations.
Film Preservation: 35mm film has been used extensively in the history of cinema. Many classic films were shot on 35mm film stock. Efforts are made to preserve and restore these films to ensure their longevity and availability for future generations.
Transition to Digital: While digital photography and filmmaking have become dominant in recent years, 35mm film still has a dedicated following among enthusiasts and professionals. Some filmmakers and photographers continue to use 35mm film for its unique aesthetic qualities.
Film Cameras: There is a wide range of 35mm film cameras available, from vintage models to modern film cameras. Popular brands like Nikon, Canon, Leica, and Pentax have produced 35mm film cameras over the years.
Scanning and Digitalization: To incorporate 35mm film into digital workflows, film negatives or slides are often scanned or digitized using specialized equipment. This allows for post-processing and digital storage while retaining the film's original characteristics.
In summary, 35mm film is a versatile and enduring format in both photography and filmmaking. It offers a unique aesthetic and remains a preferred choice for many artists and photographers, even in the digital age.

User questions & answers
Question: | It used to be that after photos are taken and still in the camera when roll is removed it cannot be exposed to light. How does this work |
Answer: | U can look up YouTube how to pull out w the screw, inside is 35mm and it does work w this scanner |
Question: | Does this unit save directly to a computer or do you have to save to SD Card and then to the computer |
Answer: | Yes. The scanner records the images (JPG) on removable media like a camera or directly to the computer via USB cable (included). You can transfer via USB or by removing the media and transferring it that way |
Question: | Does the type of media inserted determine the number of megapixels an image is converted to |
Answer: | There is no tray, you push the 1st slide in. It is not in the center for the picture to show completely so you use the 2nd slide to push the 1st slide in position and after digitizing the 1st slide you continue to push the 2nd slide all the way in. The 1st slide is not yet all the way out so you push the 3rd slide in a little way so you can get the 1st slide out. Continue with all your slides. Once you do about 10-15 slides it become very routine and works well. |
Question: | The ntsc out is really useless, only way to get digital images is to write to the sd card, correct |
Answer: | I don’t know about the dpi but it is 14.0 megapixels (4320 X 3252). Much better than the old slides we have scanned in! |

Question: | How is this film ,hp5 400, iifor landscape photography |
Answer: | I checked the model number with Google and it said that it is 7th generation, but also had the info that the ios is version12 (a misprint?). Strange since the new 7 on Apple site comes with 13 which the buyer can do a download to bring it up to ios 14. I have a version 12 from 2018 and it cannot be upgraded to ios 13. Be careful. A program I use now requires ios 13 so I have to buy a new one. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you ship to Thailand or not |
Answer: | You could but faster film/higher ISO would be better for underwater. |
Question: | How many pictures can I take with one roll of film |
Answer: | What I received was in good date, but that was six months or so ago. That does not guarantee what is currently being shipped. My experience is that the bigger on line photo specialty stores do a good job of shipping properly stored, in date film. It's more difficult to determine what you will get from the smaller, "no name" outfits. That being said, amateur film like Fuji 200 is manufactured with the expectation that it will sit around a while and not always be stored properly. Professional film on the other hand is intended to be used and processed promptly and does fare well with abuse. If you receive an out of date batch, you can always process a trial roll before you use it for important photos. You can then refrigerate the batch to retard further aging. Just make sure to remove it from the frig several hours before use. This is what professionals do with all their film. |
Question: | will the 400 work in a nikon fg |
Answer: | Yes that is correct. You will get 3 - 36 exposure films in your box. So three films with a total of 108 exposures. |
Question: | Is this type of film only debeloped in dark rooms or also stores |
Answer: | The expiration date on our film is 2/22. |
