Sony DSC-TX10 Feature Highlights
Rugged and Stylish

Rugged and Stylish

This camera is just as much at home in the water as on a night on the town! The sleek and stylish TX10 fits the slimmest pocket or purse, yet is waterproof to a depth of 16 ft10, shockproof from falls up to approximately 5 ft9 and dustproof12 thanks to its airtight construction. As well, this durable camera can even withstand extreme weather conditions, as it is operable in temperatures from 14- to 104-degrees Fahrenheit11.  Seamlessly shifting from underwater marvels to a night on the town, the TX10 always makes it easy to get the best shot!

3.0-inch LCD 3-inch Touch screen

A large 3-inch touch screen LCD makes it easy for viewing and sharing images with simple and fun touch operation.

Exmor R CMOS Image Sensor

16.2 Megapixel Back-illuminated “Exmor R” CMOS Image Sensor

The DSC-TX10 features a 16.2 megapixel “Exmor R” CMOS image sensor that brings out the full resolving power of the camera’s Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens to deliver extremely fast speed, high resolution, and stunning low-light sensitivity with improved image clarity and drastically reduced grain. In addition, the combined “Exmor R” CMOS sensor and BIONZ image processor delivers extremely fast 10fps, Anti Motion Blur, Hand-held Twilight and 1080i movie modes7.

Full HD 1080 Full HD 1080@60i

Record crystal clear movies at the highest resolution available with capabilities for 60i in 1080 Full HD3. This provides stunning, fast motion video with less distortion for playback on your HD TV.

3D still image

Produce awe-inspiring images with 3D still image and 3D Sweep Panorama capabilities. Images will take on a new dimension to view the world in a whole new way5.

iSweep Panorama

iSweep Panorama

With iSweep Panorama just press the shutter, pan the landscape and let the camera do the rest. It automatically links together each frame to produce a panoramic image. This model even detects faces and moving subjects to stitch intelligently different widths to help avoid subject distortion.
Background Defocus

DSLR photographs are often beautiful because they blur the background, putting the emphasis on the subject. Now our point-and-shoot cameras can deliver this signature DSLR benefit. The system takes two shots, identifies the background and applies a defocused background keeping the subject crisp and clear.

Superior Auto Mode Superior Auto Mode

Get cleaner, more dynamic pictures and fewer missed shots. The camera automatically recognizes the correct scene mode, then quickly shoots and combines up to six shots to produce images with greater clarity, optimum dynamic range using backlight correction HDR technology and lower image noise using 6 shots layering technology. Superior Auto intelligently detects 36 scenes for still images and movies, making it easy to get the best shot.

Soft Skin Mode

Portrait subjects will love the results. Soft Skin mode recognizes skin tones and reduces the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles without affecting the rest of the shot.

Natural Flash

Conventional point-and-shoot camera flash shots just don't capture colors the way the eye sees them. Natural Flash mode takes a reference shot without flash and then uses that reference to correct the color, for far more lifelike images.

High speed shooting

The DSC-TX10 can capture full 16.2 megapixel resolution images at up to 10 frames per second, helping to ensure that the decisive moment is captured such as the soccer ball flying into the goal. In addition, the DSC-TX10 employs a mechanical shutter that helps reduce distortion when continuously shooting moving subjects.

Carl Zeiss Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Lens with 25mm equivalent wide 4x Optical Zoom

The high-performance Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4x optical zoom lens brings distant subjects closer for video recording as well as for outdoor, sports, and travel photos, and Close Focus shoots close-ups up to just under ½-inch from the subject. A wide angle of 25mm equivalent wide-angle lens allows you to take wider shots of the scene or group in crowded spaces.

HDMI output

HDMI output

The High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a compact audio/video connector interface for transmitting uncompressed digital streams. HDMI connects digital audio/video sources such as a compatible camcorder, Blu-ray Disc player, a personal computer, a video game console, or an AV receiver to a compatible digital audio device and/or video monitor such as a digital television (DTV). Easily connect your Cyber-shot camera via HDMI cable to any compatible HDMI compatible device to easily enjoy and upload content7.

Smile Shutter Smile Shutter technology

Smile Shutter technology captures a smile the moment it happens. Simply press the Smile Shutter button and the camera does the rest. Also select adult and child priority and indicate the degree of Smile Detection Sensitivity. Intelligent Scene Recognition can be used together with Smile Shutter mode.  This means that beautiful smiles can be captured with settings optimized for the particular scene, even in difficult conditions such as twilight and backlighting.

Face Detection technology Face Detection technology

Sony’s Face Detection technology can automatically distinguish between children and adults. Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and adjusts flash, focus, exposure, and white balance to help deliver crisp, properly lit images of family and friends.

Motion Detection

Motion Detection, along with Face Motion Detection adjusts ISO sensitivity and increases the shutter speed when movement is detected, reducing blur in moving subjects and faces.

Anti-blink Function

It’s frustrating to capture the perfect shot, only to review it later and discover subjects blinked during the photo. When the camera is set to Soft Snap, the Anti-blink function captures two images, recording only the photo with less squinting or blinking. If a blink is detected in other shooting modes, a warning will be displayed after you take the shot.

Sweep Multi Angle Mode

In Sweep Multi Angle mode, the camera takes 15 images at different angles as it sweeps across the scene. By tilting the camera during playback, the camera’s Gyro Sensor detects motion and displays the image in a 3D-like view on the camera’s LCD.

Anti-Motion Blur Mode

Capture cleaner and sharper images in low light for non landscape shots. When set in Anti-motion Blur Mode, the DSC-TX10 captures six images in a fraction of a second with higher shutter speed and combines the data from all six to create a single image of extraordinary detail and dramatically reduce subject blur, beyond the capability of traditional cameras.

Backlight Correction HDR

Shooting high-contrast scenes can often lead to washed out backgrounds and/or details lost in shadow. Backlight Correction HDR helps correct for this by taking three pictures at different exposure settings and processing the best elements of all three into a single image for more natural looking shots.

TransferJet Technology TransferJet technology

TransferJet technology, developed by Sony and advanced and promoted by consortium of 18 other companies, allows the transfer of up to ten files between two TransferJet enabled devices just by touching their TransferJet logos together, without the hassle of hunting for cables or the complication of pairing8.

User questions & answers

Question: Does anybody know if this camera has the ability to take pictures infull focus mode? meaning no blurred background? how is that done
Answer: Set the aperture to the minimum, which is F22 in this camera. It is almost no-blur picture. Actually this is a 35mm lens, so unless you put this above F4, there won't be much blurred area in the picture. From F8 and down, you won't notice much "blurring"
Question: This camera is not good for wild life, right? How far can it reach to shot a wild life picture clearly
Answer: With a 35 mm lens the camera is perfect for travel and street shooting, but not for wildlife. You can use some of the built in software zooms, I.e. Clear Zoom and Digital Zoom to increase its reach, but then you are shooting 11mpx pictures. Even with all the software zooms there is not much reach. Why use a 42mpx camera at a much lower resolution? You are better off with a superzoom like the Sony Rx10 ii.
Question: What is the fastest sd card that this camera can take? can it take an uhs-ii
Answer: The "Sony U. Manufacturer- Zander" answer is inaccurate. I use the SanDisk 256GB Extreme Pro UHS-I SDXC U3 Memory Card (Class 10) on the RX1R II and its works great, no issues.
Question: Hi, can this camera record videos in 4k format? Thanks
Answer: No image stabilization would make the camera ideal for video on a tripod, but the camera is obviously best at photo quality at high ISO given the Full Frame. If you are looking for 4K video with stabilized zoom there are plenty of other options, such as RX100 IV and Panasonic LX100 (smaller sensors but less expensive at the expense of photo quality.)

Product features

Ultimate Image Quality in the Palm of Your Hand

Cutting-edge compact camera technology doesn’t get sharper than this. A fixed-lens design is seamlessly integrated with an advanced full-frame sensor with no fewer than 42.4 effective megapixels (approx.) and ultra-efficient signal processing to give the new RX1R II the capability to capture images of extraordinary resolution. Fast, accurate AF ensures that you capture clear images at every opportunity.

A retractable electronic viewfinder allows you to monitor and preview exactly what your shot will look like, and the world’s first* optical variable low-pass filter can be controlled to select precisely the effect that you intend.

42.4MP of ultimate image quality

The RX1R II utilizes a 42.4MP back-illuminated 35mm full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor paired with a powerful BIONZ X processing engine to achieve superior levels of image resolution and sensitivity (up to 102,4003) with a wide dynamic range. The sensor’s back-illuminated structure, with an expanded circuit scale and copper wiring design, enables approximately 3.5x faster transmission speed and outputs data than the original RX1R. The addition of user selectable uncompressed 14-bit RAW and the world’s first optical variable low pass filter maximize the benefits of the image sensor’s full potential – resulting in the ultimate image quality.

35 mm F2.0 ZEISS Sonnar T* lens with macro capability

The fixed lens design allows the lens to be precisely aligned at the micron level to the focal plane of the full-frame sensor. ZEISS lens expertise meets Sony optical precision in a sophisticated large-aperture lens that’s matched specifically for the image sensor. The ZEISS Sonnar T* 35 millimeter F2 fixed focal length lens ensures exceptional image quality offering remarkable brightness and impressively sharp images from the center to the corners. The lens also has a unique Macro shift ring for focusing on subjects as close as 5.5 inch in front of the lens and has nine aperture blades that produce beautiful background bokeh. Unlike the focal plane shutter common to interchangeable lens cameras, RX1R II utilizes an in-lens leaf shutter, allowing 1/2000 sec flash synch speed and a significant reduction in overall body size.

World’s first1 user-selectable optical variable low-pass fil

The RX1R II features the world’s first1 optical variable low pass filter that allows photographers to achieve the desired image quality and resolution based on the presence of moire-inducing high spatial frequency objects in the scene, essentially combining two cameras – one with and without a low-pass filter – into one body. Three settings are available; including 'off', which provides comparable effects to having no low-pass filter and is suitable when prioritizing resolution, 'standard', which strikes a balance between resolution and removal of moire and color artifacts, and 'high', which places more emphasis on reducing moire and artifacting. Low-pass filter bracketing is also available and can be used to compare the effects of different settings.

Fast Hybrid AF with 399 focal plane phase-detection AF point

Your shots of action can look clearer than ever, thanks to a new full-frame image sensor that assures the world’s highest number of focal plane phase-detection AF points, at 399, and the widest coverage, of 45% of the image area1. With its accelerated readout and an advanced algorithm to anticipate subject movement, the sensor also makes it possible for the Fast Hybrid AF system with additional 25-point contrast-detection AF points to raise speed, accuracy, and tracking performance to incredible heights, even when shooting at up to 5fps at 42.4MP. Faster readout thanks to the back-illuminated structure of the image sensor improved AF response so dramatically that the AF system of the RX1R II instantly captures even fast-moving subjects with razor-sharp clarity.

Retractable 2.4-million dot XGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF

Conveniently tucked away in the compact RX1R II body, the retractable XGA OLED Tru-Finder electronic viewfinder pops up to reveal every detail in every scene with eye-level accuracy. The new four-lens optical system with double-sided aspherical elements provides views of cutting-edge clarity and contrast throughout the entire width and length of the display. Better yet, ZEISS T* coating ensures absolutely minimal surface reflection. You’ll enjoy rich tonal gradations and high-end features like 100% frame coverage, and high magnification of 0.74. View every scene in rich detail as the viewfinder faithfully displays what will appear in your recording, including the effects of your camera settings, so you can accurately monitor the results.

3” LCD screen tilts up and down for easy high and low-angle

The tiltable 3 inch (1,229k dots) Xtra Fine LCD Display makes it easy to photograph over crowds, or objects close to the ground or maybe you just want to get a different perspective. The screen can swivel up approx. 109 degree and down approximately 41 degree. The large display delivers brilliant-quality still images and movies thanks to WhiteMagic technology that nearly doubles the brightness of the display through a unique RGBW pixel structure for easier checking of the focus and image details.

User selectable compressed or uncompressed 14-bit RAW still

The RX1R II offers the option of user selectable compressed or uncompressed 14-bit RAW still image. Uncompressed 14-bit RAW maximizes the benefit of the image sensor's wide dynamic range, delivering the smoothest, richest color quality and tonal gradation while compressed RAW offers more convenient file sizes.

Simple connectivity to smartphones via Wi-Fi/NFC

Thanks to built-in Wi-Fi, you can easily connect to a compatible iOS or Android smartphone or tablet with the free PlayMemories Mobile App. From there you can control your camera, preview and frame using your mobile device and trigger the camera shutter or movie button. Then instantly transfer a photo or MP4 movie to your device. NFC (Near Field Communication) provides 'one-touch connection' convenience to Android smartphones and tablets with NFC. Simply touch devices to connect. Setting up your mobile device is as simple as downloading a free PlayMemories Mobile app.

Personalize your camera with PlayMemories Camera Apps2.

Add new features to your RX1R II with PlayMemories Camera Apps2. Find apps to fit your shooting style - with everything from time lapse, motion shot and more. Use apps that shoot, share and save photos to your smartphone using Wi-Fi, making it easy to post photos directly to your favorite social media site or backup images to the cloud without connecting to a computer.

High-bit-rate XAVC S format for Full HD movie recording4

XAVC S format4 supports Full HD recording at 50Mbps, so the RX1R II can capture movies6 filled with finely detailed movement. For efficient handling, XAVC S files are minimized in size using Long GOP data compression, and contained in the widely compatible MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format.

Enhanced AF features

With Expand Flexible Spot, the RX1R II automatically uses AF points surrounding the selected point to support precise focus if the selected AF point is not positioned on your subject directly. While Eye AF automatically detects and tracks an eye of even a moving subject (in AF-C mode), for more focusing accuracy.

Focus on resolution

Taking advantage of the phase-detection AF points and their wide AF coverage, the newly employed AF-C (Continuous AF) focus mode gives the RX1R II capability to track moving subjects steadfastly while maintaining sharp focus. You can even shoot continuously at up to 5fps while AF tracking is engaged. Take advantage of other focusing precision enhancements—including Direct Manual Focus (DMF), Manual Focus (MF), MF Assist, Peaking function and/or built-in retractable XGA OLED Tru-Finder electronic viewfinder—during macro shooting to achieve your ideal focusing effect.

User questions & answers

Question: Will there be future models of this action cam with wider lens? I love the feature of this product, but need a wider lens like 10mm or 12mm
Answer: Hello, the Sony MPKHSR1 Camera Housing is only compatible with the DSC-RX0 Mark 1.
Question: How many seconds can it record at 1000fps
Answer: This will FIT on any e-mount camera, a6000, a6300, a5100, NEX, and ALL of the A7 (full frame) variants. BUT on an A7 it will either shoot in APS-C mode (using the same size area on the full frame sensor as an APS-C camera (a5xxx/a6xxx/NEX) and produce a lower resolution than the normal photo on the full-frame setting. You can shoot on the full-frame sensor setting on an A7(r/ii etc.) but you will see vignetting.
Question: Does it offer 60FPS, if so in what resolutions
Answer: Hi E40, Due to the crop factor, it will be multiplied to 1.5x. The angle of view of the 10-18mm lens will be equivalent to 15-27mm if mounted on your camera. -Anthony
Question: Does this come with the standard sony usa warranty of 1-year
Answer: Ignore the replies from G.Dudgeon, S.Erickson, and E.Daniels. The ILCE-3000 is an E-mount camera body, so yes, this lens will work perfectly with it because it is E-mount. And it is a great lens.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it has wifi
Answer: I contacted Sony, there were no reports of problems with sound!???? So I pointed out that there were many people having issues, but the only recourse is to send it in under warranty to see if they can fix it - even though it's a design issue, in my opinion.

Question: Can you adjust the microphone on the Bloggie? It doesn't pick up the voices very well. You hear more of the white noise than anything else
Answer: No. It does have two angles of view, 170 and 120 degrees, but the 120 setting is less sharp. On the 170 setting it will automatically hold focus down to just a few inches.
Question: how do you get the pics and video off this camera and what cords do you use
Answer: it will accept a Micro SD card. I currently have a 16GB installed in mine, going to upgrade to a 32GB or larger very soon. Happy Filming!

Question: what mega pixel

Question: Does this camcorder have a manual focus option
Answer: No! This is a great camera but is missing this feature.
Question: Micro SD? or just a regular SD card
Answer: You can choose AVCHD or MP4 format for filming movies. AVCHD is 1080 60i (interlaced), and MP4 is 30p (progressive). In MP4 you can select 1080, 720 or VGA mode.
Question: Hi. What in the box with Sony HDR-AS
Answer: Yes. It protects the lens and nothing zooms out. I had 2 and loved them. Excellent for 1-hand operation. Sony color quality.
Question: Just updated to the Version 3.0 firmware and can't copy 1080p 60 from the camera to my iPhone 5. Any ideas
Answer: That was my problem with the camera. We took it on a snorkeling trip to Hawaii and didn't exceed the 15 feet limit that Sony said it was waterproof to, and it seeped water into the inside of the camera. Ruined it and when I tried to get Sony to honor it's warranty, they reneged on their warranty. Their service center is a joke. I barely took the camera any deeper than 5 feet.
