User questions & answers
Question: | This particular (nikon p1000) offering from amazon is not "bundled" with any extra items. does it at least come with a standard lens shade/hood |
Answer: | Yes, it comes with a lens hood, battery, cable, and camera strap. The cable is used primarily to charge the battery in the camera, Not much else to really bundle it with. I did buy a couple of batteries and a charger and a collapsible rubber hood. If you go to Nikon USA website and download the P1000 info you can get a copy of the camera's manual showing everything. |
Question: | Are there threads on the lens so that a polarizing and other type filters can be used |
Answer: | Yes, but you will find that many p1000 users believe that filters mess with the autofocus on this camera, particularly when using the super zoom. I opted instead for clear protective glass in the 77mm size. |
Question: | What comes with the p1000? charger? remote? i have a p900 and can’t hardly wait for the p |
Answer: | Jennifer's answer is correct. However, the included "Charger" is just an AC-to-USB power source that you connect a Micro USB cord to and then the Micro USB cord's male connector connects to the female Micro USB port in the camera.. Nikon includes the USB cord, but since the battery remains in the camera, you can stick any Micro USB cord into the camera and it will charge. You will definitely want to get the MH-29 battery charger (or generic equivalent that charges EN-EL20a batteries) that you would actually remove the battery from the camera to insert into the MH-29 for charging. And yes, it is wise to have at least 2 fully-charged batteries at the start of a day of shooting. |
Question: | How does the 3000 mm equivalent compare to the P900's 83X, and i mean specifically. Thanks |
Answer: | It is simple math : P900 : 24-2000 35mm equivalent = 2000/24 = 83X P1000: 24-3000 35mm equivalent = 3000/24 = 125X I also like to think a lens in term of zoom compared to the human vision, that is around 50mm for a 35mm equivalent ( matching perpective, the field of view of the human is almost 180° ). In that case : P900 : 2000/50 = 40X P1000 : 3000/50 = 60X That's a 50% improvement on range :) The sensor is the same, but the P1000 close at F8, that is slower than the P900 at his max zoom. They improved the VR on the new model, so it is unknown if it is a real issue or not in practice. |

Shoot and share with a compatible smartphone
Show off the COOLPIX P1000’s incredible zoom shots instantly on social media thanks to Nikon’s SnapBridge app for iOS(R) and Android(TM). SnapBridge pairs easily with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi(R) enabled Nikon cameras like the COOLPIX P1000 and allows you to send photos from the camera straight to your smartphone, then edit and share like normal.
Moon and Bird Modes
Take the guess work out of shooting tricky far off subjects. Moon mode automatically compensates for low light astrophotography while the advanced bird-watching mode optimizes the camera’s settings for capturing elusive creatures.

User questions & answers
Question: | does this have a macro setting |
Answer: | Not that I am aware of |
Question: | does this camera have date stamp feature |
Answer: | Yes, it does have a date stamp feature. |
Question: | is battery rechargable |
Answer: | IT uses standars AA batteries. However, since small cameras like this usually "eat" batteries, I usually try to find a 4-pack of rechargeables that come with a small charger. This way I always have freshly charged batteries at the ready. Just a suggestion. The charger and batteries may cost yo around $10-$15, but replacing standard batteries over time will cost you that in a few months anyway.. |
Question: | How do you download photos to print |
Answer: | On the bottom of the camera there is a small black rubber tab that says A/V out, it twists around to let you plug in the usb cord to attach to your computer/laptop/notebook or whatever. Hope that answers your question. |
