More detailed equals larger file and the fewer photos you can take because it takes up more space on your memory card. 640x480 is pretty standard for casual shots; a little larger for special shots. Also, use a larger capacity memory card; 2gb won't take nearly as many as 8gb or 16gb etc.

Question:	Can i connect this camera to my computer with a usb
Answer:	I have just purchased two of these (Elph 180). The first thing I noticed is that Canon has not improved the access door (battery/ sd card slot) in the many years since I had my first point& shoot Canon. (I have a canon rebel too - different story) The reason I am telling you this is that I urge you to buy a cable to download your shots, and clear the SD card from your camera. Every time you open and shut this little door, the weaker it becomes. Eventually you will be forced to tape the door shut to use the camera. I did this for years because I loved the camera. Finally I just got tired of it and bought the rebel. If the only time you have to open the door is to charge the battery, you will extend the usable life of the door HUGELY. As with most technology today, it's longevity depends on its weakest point. One of the two I purchased is for a 12 yr. old - I bought cables for both of us. My opinion: It's worth it because Canon still makes the best lenses.

Answer:	I don`t think so. But you`ll know if it`s on. When it`s on, the lens moves way out. When it`s off, it retracts, so the camera is flat. It would be very hard to forget to turn the camera off, or forget you left it on.

Answer:	Yes, but you have to learn how to zoom, wait for the focus, use the green 'hold' button on the top right, then click. The focus takes about a second, then shooting the pic takes a second. It is not very fast, but good for the price. You have to practice with the zoom. 100 yards is about the limit of its range to get a clear photo. The faster models like the Nikon or Sony are about $100-125 more and have the range. Bottom line, this camera is not designed well for long-distance photos at 100 or more yards. I have taken some at that distance that came out OK. Others didn't, even though I thought I was focused. Go to Google and look up the reviews. It's a mixed bag.

The charger and batteries may cost yo around $10-$15, but replacing standard batteries over time will cost you that in a few months anyway..
