6 best cameras point and shoots

Point-and-shoot cameras, also known as compact digital cameras, are a type of digital camera designed for simplicity and ease of use. These cameras are popular among casual photographers, travelers, and those who want a convenient, portable option for capturing photos and videos. Here are some key features and aspects related to point-and-shoot cameras:

  1. Compact Size: Point-and-shoot cameras are typically small and lightweight, making them easy to carry in a pocket or purse. Their compact size makes them ideal for everyday photography and travel.

  2. Automatic Settings: These cameras are known for their simplicity. They often feature fully automatic modes where the camera handles most of the settings, including focus, exposure, and flash, allowing users to point, shoot, and capture images without worrying about technical details.

  3. Fixed Lenses: Point-and-shoot cameras usually have fixed lenses with a zoom range, typically ranging from wide-angle to moderate telephoto. Some models offer limited manual control over zoom.

  4. User-Friendly Interfaces: The menus and controls on point-and-shoot cameras are designed to be user-friendly, with straightforward icons and settings. This makes them accessible to individuals with limited photography experience.

  5. LCD Screens: These cameras typically have LCD screens on the back for framing and reviewing photos. Some models feature touchscreens for easy navigation and image playback.

  6. Image Stabilization: Many point-and-shoot cameras incorporate image stabilization technology to reduce blurriness caused by shaky hands or low light conditions, resulting in sharper photos.

  7. Automatic Scene Modes: Point-and-shoot cameras often include various scene modes (e.g., portrait, landscape, macro) that automatically adjust settings to optimize image quality based on the shooting scenario.

  8. Video Recording: Most point-and-shoot cameras can capture video in addition to photos. They may offer various video recording resolutions, including Full HD (1080p) or 4K.

  9. Built-in Flash: These cameras typically have a built-in flash for low-light situations. Some models offer advanced flash settings for more control over lighting.

  10. Battery Life: Battery life varies by model, but point-and-shoot cameras generally have good battery longevity, allowing users to capture many photos on a single charge.

  11. Price Range: Point-and-shoot cameras are available at a wide range of price points, from budget-friendly options to premium models with advanced features.

  13. Image Quality: While point-and-shoot cameras may not offer the same level of image quality and flexibility as DSLR or mirrorless cameras, they are capable of producing high-quality images suitable for everyday photography.

Point-and-shoot cameras are an excellent choice for individuals who want a convenient and hassle-free way to capture memories without the need for advanced photography skills. They are versatile, portable, and well-suited for various situations, from family gatherings to travel adventures. User questions & answers

Question: I love the camera, but I cannot get it to capture still photos while recording a movie. Can somebody tell me how to do it
Answer: Hello Harry, Please explain what you mean you cannot get still shots while recording. Do you want the camera to display still photos when you take them and you choose when to continue taking video. Or you cannot find your still photos after you take them, you only see the video. As I explained, possibly not clearly, when you are recording a video and you press the shutter button to take a photo, the camera do not interupt your video recording to display the picture. after completing your video you press the play/review button and then you will see the photos and the video when going in reverse order. if you review from begining you will see video first then your pictures.
Question: I want to make sure I have everything I need to start shooting on day one. What accessories come in the box with the camera
Answer: I would suggest at least ordering 55-mm UV filter (acts as lense protector so you should never have to wipe/clean the coatings on your expensive lense or worry about scratches). May want to consider a circular polarizing lens (linear polarizers supposedly don't work on sensor cameras). You will also want to have an SD, SDHC, or SDXC UHS-I (letter I vs an UHS-II interface) memory card that is at least Class 10 (C with a 10 in it), UHS-1 (number 1) or UHS-3 speed class which is U with a 1 or 3 in it. I suggest at least 16 GB, with 32 GB being better. I like videos, so I got 64 GB. A case to protect your camera would be nice. I also favor a better shoulder strap and a hand strap grip. One end of the hand strap should screw into the tripod mount and supply its own tripod mount hole to allow mounting to tripod without removing the strap.
Question: can you use filters with this camera and if so what size does it take
Answer: You can use 55mm filters with the Sony HX400V
Question: can the camera be operated remotly with the smartphone for to take photos and make focus with wifi or another wireless methods
Answer: Yes this camera can be operated remotely with smartphones. You can take the picture and zoom in and out. You can see the subject being photographed on the phone. It updates every 2 seconds.

User questions & answers

Question: Can you get an external charger to charge the battery, or can you only charge the battery via USB while it is in the camera
Answer: Surprised someone is still asking about this and not really sure what you mean but...If you mean how many hours I ran it or its reliability I used it hundreds of hours over years and many drops and bangs and last I checked it still worked. If you mean battery life I think it was about 30 hours maybe 40 with radio or no song skipping. It was a great player and I using it heavily without fail through most of the ipod revolution. It wasn't until I got my ipod classic 4th gen 80 gig that I retired the sony. The ipod for double the price or so went from 120 songs to thousands. Fully shockproof, smaller more pocketable and better rechargable battery. The sony may have lasted longer though technologically as it was only a few years before I went to streaming through pandora. Still use the ipod where there is no data. Even then I miss directory forward/ back buttons of the sony. Ipod jog wheels suck especially when driving.
Question: How long does it take to charge the battery
Answer: are you referring to "rewritable" CDs as in a CD you created? Yes, it does play them
Question: How superior would you say this is compared to a 14mp camera? (I currently have an Olympus
Answer: I honestly don't know. The batteries in this unit last for a long time and I never needed one. I can go through about 100 cd s on one change of batteries. That is a guess because it could be more.
Question: What are the included items
Answer: It has an ear phone port and that's what I use on my phone to connect to the car Aux port.

User questions & answers

Question: I purchased a Fuji Finepix S4300 that gives me dark and yellowed photos when taken indoors. How does the Sony DSCW830/B rate for taking photos inside of an office
Answer: The pictures are great! They come out nice, whether taken outdoors or indoors. I love that the camera can take panoramic pictures. My son and daughter have similar Sony cameras that they have had for awhile so I bought one because they recommended it.
Question: How long of a lag time is there between shots? Does this camera have something like a burst mode; taking a rapid series of shots
Answer: It does have a "burst mode"; however, it is not as you would expect it to be. It is a bit slower than the traditional DSLR/SLR. Thus far, as per my usage, it has been satisfactory. Suffice it to say that if you are looking to capture a hummingbird in perfect detail and in multiple shots, this camera will fall just a bit short.
Question: Does the camera come with a memory card
Answer: No. According to the help guide, "Using internal memory: The camera has approximately 27 MB of internal memory." You can purchase other media cards to store data on as well.
Question: I am looking for something for my 80 + Mother so it needs to be simple, would this camera work for her
Answer: Frankly, I would not recommend it. I bought it to replace an earlier Sony digital camera I had, which was truly a "point and shoot"- always gave great pictures. This one has an impressive list of features (I never use 99% of them) but I'm still having trouble simply "taking pictures". It's possible that it might work fine with the right settings, but I haven't had success. Example of the complexity- I printed out (from the online manual) the definitions of all the icons that can appear on the camera's screen- it's about four pages worth (!) of tiny nondescript icons which no "normal" person could memorize. Yeah, I'm old (75) and old-school, but I suspect your mom might not get satisfaction from this camera.

Question: It looks like the camera doesn't come with a memory stick? What stick would you suggest, that processes pictures fast
Answer: forget the MEMORY STIck! Go with the sandisk 32 Micro SD and get a GOOD reader(Sandisk or Lexar 35 bucks or so). I think I have the sandisk 64's in the camera.
Question: Hello, I am hoping I can use my cell phone to remotely take pictures and view. Does this have fish eye view along with panorama? Thx
Answer: Hi. This camera does allow you to take photos remotely from your smart phone (IOS for sure) and is pretty easy to setup. It also has a fish eye mode not quite sure about the panorama however. Hope this helps. Happy shootingAlexanderlamar.com
Question: eviews say the camera works with wifi using Android OS devices. But I haven't read any references to iOS; Apple devices. Does it work with iOS too
Answer: Sony does not specifically mention iOS devices. We would advise contacting Sony directly at 800-222-7669.
Question: Does this camera have a 1/4-20 tripod screw at the bottom
Answer: It has a threaded receptacle that my tripod fits. Looks like 1/4 20 but I don't have a 1/4 20 bolt handy to test with.
