Optics and Resolution

The 6.17 million effective pixels translate to 12 million recorded pixels (4,256 x 2,848), or a 4.5 MB file size, due to Fuji's Super CCD (see below for more info). The FinePix S2 Pro has a Nikon F mount and accepts every AF Nikkor and most manual AI or AI-S Nikkor lenses. In addition, the camera has shutter speeds of 30 seconds to 1/4,000 second, and continuous shooting of approximately 2 frames per second, up to a total of 7 frames. Its wide range of ISO equivalents of 100/160/200/400/800/1,600 allow for picture taking under a variety of challenging lighting conditions.

Fuji's Super CCD

Instead of conventional CCDs with square photodiodes and pixel arrangements, Fuji’s Super CCD has octagonal-shaped photodiodes and pixels situated on 45-degree angles. This "honeycomb" pattern increases sensitivity, allowing pixels to be efficiently packed at maximum density. The area of the photodiode in a half-inch Super CCD with 2 million pixels is about 1.6 times as large as the area offered in the conventional CCD with the same number of pixels. The Super CCD improves overall signal-to-noise ratio and offers a much wider dynamic range.

Storage and Transfer

The S2 Pro offers a dual-media approach to storage: SmartMedia and CompactFlash Type II memory cards (offering compatibility with optional Microdrives, which can provide up to 1 GB of storage). It also incorporates dual PC connectivity, via typical USB 1.1 or super-fast IEEE 1394 (FireWire).

He developed eye ulcers within a few days, that got so gooped up he couldn't see well (warm, moist washcloths helped some). I started them all on Lysine (I also take it for cold and canker sores) immediately - I saw excellent results beginning in a day. His eyes cleared up really fast, and the girls got over the virus within a week. I actually started with pulverizing pills that I was taking, then adding to wet food. Powder form is the way to go! I add a little water to their wet food anyways, so find better results when I mix the powder w/ water first, then mix in food. I only give it to them 1 or 2x / week, or if any of the cats gets the 'sniffles', or if the boy's eyes look watery.

Answer:	You can't print 3D lenticular prints from this camera. You might be able to print side by side images if you can find a third party 3D viewer software. If you happen to find this and are able to print side by side you would then need to have a stereopticon vintage type viewer to view them. You may also free view the images if have the ability to do this (not everyone does) but the images won't be magnified and may not be satisfactory to you. Your best bet is to purchase the Fuji 3D lenticular viewer. It's just like the viewer on back of the Fuji 3D camera, only much larger and is suitable for a small group of 2-3 persons. You also may be able to send away for 3D lenticular prints but they're not cheap. Check the web via Google or similar. Unfortunately, there are not many 3D digital options out there and Fuji only scratched the surface with their camera and accessories. It's ashamed really because it had a lot of potential. I would have liked to have seen a high quality Kodaslide type viewer with high resolution mini screens. Considering the R&D that they've put in it, it wouldn't have been much more of an effort and I think they would have attracted more potential buyers.

Answer:	A few options weren't mentioned:The camera will automatically save a 2D Jpg along with the 3D mpo and many but not all devices can view side by side 3D avi as 2D avi. These will not be 3D.A 3D TV should workA 3D monitor should work. I got a 24" for about $250 but the drivers are sketchy and I'm not sure it works right anymore - looked great though.You can usually get 3D printed as lenticular postcards. I say this because places that do it probably come and go.I generally just use the camera back, but beware using up your battery.There was a badly rated and expensive 7" lenticular monitor available for this. I think it was 720p which is silly to view 10 megapixel images on.The other answers are very goodSpeaking of battery, the one that came with mine, and a few FUJI original I got don't hold up. Aftermarkets I got work great.One more thing: ediiting software isn't cheap, I use Cyberlink and it works fine for me. It can convert to the colored glasses formats but you lose a lot of color (almost sepia) and you need a screen that's tuned properly "or" you'll see the red/green edges that the glasses "would" filter. That's just how color filter glasses work, nothing to do with the software.Nowadays (I've had this for a few years) I pretty much think of stuff I film with this camera as archive for when 3D actually works. Until then it's still a nice camera. Cool to film family, both young and old, and know that at least I tried :D Looking at the pictures in 3D is amazing, it does something in my brain/memory. 2D photos don't compare.

Answer:	In order to view 3D picture. You need 3D player, 3D TV and 3D glasses. Transfer the file to the USB memory and play on the 3D player.

Answer:	Push the menu button, shooting mode is at the top of the menu. Push the button on the camera that looks squiggly like a lightning flash. This will navigate you to the different shooting mode options. Then use the button that looks like a clock. It will move you down through the options. Choose the one that says "natural light." It will not use the flash. Then push the button that says OK on your camera. It will set it to that mode. Then you will have to go back through these steps if you want to choose some other shooting mode later. Hope that helps.

Answer:	Yes. I have horrible eyesight, but I hate shooting with glasses on. The Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) on this camera is awesome, and there is a diopter (a little "focus" button) specifically for dialing in your specific vision issues. If you can buy reading glasses off the shelf, then your vision falls into the range the diopter can correct for.

Answer:	My recommendation would be the 55-200. You can't really go wrong with any of the fuji lenses as a second lens. But the 55-200 gives you a solid two lens combo.

Answer:	There may be some water color effects with jpegs, but if you process the RAW files there isn't any. Still waiting on Adobe to come out with Lightroom support.

Answer:	I would say this camera is moderately duck resistant.It depends on how the ducks come at the camera. The body is weather-resistant, and can probably withstand the very worst a duck can do. However, the lens is not weather/duck-resistant. It is conceivable that a duck could poo on the lens, fouling its functions, or scratch the glass with its talons. Be careful, duck-related damage is not covered under warranty.

Prized for bringing a new level of advanced image quality to the consumer compact market, Fujifilm's EXR technology has the unique ability to switch its behavior depending on the shooting conditions by automatically switching sensor modes. Sharp, Clear 15x Zoom Lens

Despite having a body that measures just 22.9mm wide, the FinePix F500EXR camera houses a FUJINON 15x Super Wide-Angle optical zoom lens that produces crisp high resolution results throughout the focal range, from 24mm wide-angle to 360mm telephoto. The lens also features Super EBC Coating that keeps flare and ghosting to minimum, allowing for the best image possible.



Intelligent Image Stabilization

Long-zoom cameras, especially those with 15x optical zoom like the F500EXR, need stabilization more than any other compact, with handshake and subject movement a particular problem in low light at telephoto range and in movie mode. With a highly sensitive gyro sensor, the Dual Image Stabilization system provides further improved image quality with reduced blurring and noise in still pictures and even when shooting movies at the full 15x optical zoom or in very low-light. The new mechanically stabilized sensor is able to overcome handshake and can compensate for both sharp and wide hand movements, therefore increasing ISO to freeze action is no longer so necessary, meaning sharp low-light pictures can be achieved at ISO 400, rather than ISO 800 or 1600 at night scenery. The FinePix F500EXR also reduces blur to a minimum by deploying high ISO sensitivity to automatically increase shutter speeds, and CMOS shift type to counteract the problems of handshake. By cleverly combining these two, blur is reduced to an absolute minimum.



3.0-inch High-Contrast LCD

The FinePix F500EXR and F550EXR cameras are fitted with a high contrast 3.0-inch LCD (460K). The high contrast LCD is a considerable benefit in bright light, allowing the camera to be directed at various shooting angles to enable framing of almost any shot. The LCD is bright and clear, perfect for instant gratification of shots in playback.



HD Movie Capture

With the ability to capture movies in true, full HD quality "1080p" the F500EXR also has Mini HDMI Ports, making it easy for users to share their images and videos with loved ones through their home theater systems. Movie files (.MOV) are captured with H.264 high profile compression for smaller file sizes without sacrificing quality. With a mini-HDMI output connector, it is easy to connect and view images on your HDTV (HDMI cable not included).



Motion Panorama 360° for the All-Round Shot

The F500EXR sensor extends the sweep range to 360 degrees (shots can also be taken vertically). Combined with high quality Fujifilm printing, sweeping and impressive scenes can be taken, showing fine detail, low noise and high resolution at 180°, 240° or full 360° panoramic ranges.



Multi-Frame Technology

The FinePix F500EXR also sports a Pro Focus Mode which is created by using Fujifilm's Multi-Frame Technology. A burst of two or three frames is taken and by taking the distance information off, the main subject is crisply matted against a defocused foreground and background. This mode is perfect for portrait or nature photography, where professional results are needed quickly with minimal adjustment to the camera and without the need to use a PC.



Meanwhile, Pro Low-light Mode can be applied to help solve the problems of noisy low light shots. With current digital cameras, it is possible to achieve relatively blur-free low light shots using high ISO and CCD shift (or optical image) stabilization, but this comes at a cost, as the ISO 1600 setting will invariably produce distracting and ugly noise.



Once switched to Pro Low-light Mode, the FinePix F500EXR will take a burst of four high sensitivity images using Pixel Fusion Technology in quick succession. By using the camera's Multi Frame Technology, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th images are overlapped to create one image with extremely low noise.

• Super Intelligent Flash: The FinePix F500EXR offers a flash control system which efficiently controls the level of flash for a given exposure to produce beautifully balanced flash illumination across the foreground and background. Answer:	The kit zoom lens (18-55 f 2.8-4) is really good. I’d say the best kit lens ever sold. It’s small and light and comes with an excellent O.I.S. System to keep your video looking smooth and allows you to shoot at very slow shutter speed in photos but still keep them looking sharp. This paired with the 35mm f 2 is my favorite set of lenses to carry around on a trip. You also will not find a better deal if you don’t bundle the kit lens in with the body.
Question:	How does this camera compare to Sony for video and low light levels
Answer:	I own a Sony FS5, a Sony a7Rii and a Fujifilm X-T3. As far as video quality goes, the X-T3 is better than any of the Sony cameras in almost every way, even the "pro" FS5 camcorder. While the Sony a7Sii and a7iii are better for extremely low light shooting they are worse in every other regard. X-T3 can shoot and record 10-bit, All-I footage at 400mbps using h.265/HEVC. The Sony cameras are all 8-bit and shoot Long GOP XAVC at only 100mbps. The X-T3 can also shoot 10-bit 4K @ 60fps and at 200mbps.

Question:	Are these the ones with the new sensor
Answer:	I scored the deal yesterday and have it in hand today. Serial Number 33.......... This tells me that it was produced in 2013, 3rd quarter so it definitely is the new sensor. It doesn't exibit lens droop or unwind. There is a little play in the lens when extended, but not like I saw on Utube videos of the problem. Battery is charging and I'm fired up!

Answer:	Hello,On EXR and Auto mode I've found my images in low light to be sub par without using the flash - which then can unfortunately cause it's own set of problems. However, as I learn the camera I find adjusting the settings and really depending on the manual as a reference guide, along with youtube tutorial videos that my low and dim light photos are improving. I'm an Amateur at this stage of course but more advanced photographers would have an effortless time taking great shots in low light conditions. If you're shopping around check out the Panasonic FZ200 and the Sony DDSC-HX300 both have won tremendous accolades for low light performance. Hope this helps!

Answer:	Like I stated in my review here on Amazon, the Panasonic FZ200 vastly outperformed the X-S1 in image stabilization, autofocus (especially in video mode), optics, and even image quality (because of the previous issues). I was surprised and disappointed in the X-S1 and really wanted to like this camera.
