The second pair they sent me came apart within the first hour also. I would not buy these if there is a chance your child may put small objects in their mouth.

Answer:	I think it will fit a 5 year old, but I wouldn't buy it again. It's magnification is barely noticeable, and the string that goes around the neck is a thin nylon cord, capable of cutting into skin if pulled on very hard, or getting a rope burn. I'd keep looking.

Answer:	I have a pair of Poldr 8x21's. It can focus as close as 10ft. It doesn't really zoom in the sense of changing magnification. Maybe you're referring to focus? To focus, adjust focus for your left eye using the center adjustment ring, then adjust focus for your right eye using the adjustment ring on the right eyepiece.

Answer:	Just got the Monarch 7 10x42mm. Included was a warranty card that states it is a lifetime warranty by Nikon. Purchased from Helix Camera so I am guessing two years ago it was 25 years but now it is lifetime. The Nikon USA site gives the warranty as lifetime also. By the way, this is only honored if purchased from an authorized Nikon dealer (Helix is an authorized dealer). Purchased on Amazon from a dealer who was not an authorized Nikon dealer. The box had the serial number covered and inside the box there was a card saying the warranty was only for 1 year. Returned it and purchased from Helix for the full USA warranty. Cost a few dollars more, but piece of mind for an expensive binocular was worth the few dollars more to me. You can check authorized dealers on the Nikon site under Shopping Help and then Nikon Authorized Dealers.

Answer:	I'm looking at the box (I just got it for fathers day today). It has "Tripod adaptable for a stable viewing platform by using the optional tripod adapter". You have to buy that separately. The directions even show how to do it. Amazon has the adapter shown (Nikon Adapter 7650). It's kind of spendy, but from what i've read, it's just a standard 1/4"-20 mount- just about any of those will work. not sure where some of the other answers are getting their info.

Answer:	According to the specs, it's 3.05 or 3.06 pounds. Assume it's 3, since .05 or .06 pounds is about an ounce.

Answer:	The first number is the power of the lens, that is how much it will magnify the image. The second number represents the diameter of the lens in mm. They work together to calculate a number called the "exit pupil" or "exit ratio". Take the lens size and divide it by the power to get this number. The higher the number, the brighter the image. For example, 10x50 will give an exit ratio of 5.0, 8x42 would be 5.25, 10x42 would be 4.2. In my opinion, the exit ratio is more important than the power. My favorite binoculars are 8x50 (6.25) but I also just bought 10x50 as a gift who is delighted with that configuration. Stay away from high-power binoculars. Determine how far you can do so with the naked eye and multiply by the binocular's magnifivation, e.g., if you can identify a person in a crowd at 100 yards easily, you will be able to do so equally well at 1000 yards with a 10x binocular. A bird at 50 yards will appear through the binoculars as it was 5 yards away.
