13 best camera slings
Camera slings, also known as camera sling bags or camera shoulder bags, are a popular type of camera carrying solution designed to provide easy access to your camera gear while offering protection and comfort. These bags are designed for photographers who want quick access to their equipment without the need to remove the bag entirely. Here's what you should know about camera slings:
Single-Strap Design: Camera slings have a single padded shoulder strap that allows you to wear the bag diagonally across your body. This design provides a secure and ergonomic way to carry your camera gear.
Quick Access: One of the key advantages of camera slings is their quick and easy access to your camera equipment. You can quickly swing the bag around to your front and access your gear without fully removing the bag.
Interior Organization: Camera slings typically feature padded dividers or adjustable interior compartments that can be customized to fit your camera body, lenses, and accessories. This helps keep your gear organized and protected.
Protection: These bags are designed to protect your camera equipment from dust, dirt, scratches, and minor impacts. They often have padded walls and dividers to provide cushioning for your gear.
Size and Capacity: Camera slings come in various sizes and capacities, accommodating different camera setups. Some are designed for mirrorless cameras and smaller lenses, while others can hold DSLRs and larger equipment.
Exterior Pockets: Many camera slings come with exterior pockets and compartments for storing accessories like memory cards, batteries, lens caps, and filters. Some models even have dedicated pockets for tablets or small laptops.
Weather Resistance: Some camera sling bags are made from weather-resistant materials or include rain covers to protect your gear in wet or rainy conditions.
Carrying Comfort: The shoulder strap of a camera sling is often padded and adjustable for comfort during extended periods of wear. Some slings also include a chest strap to distribute the weight and improve stability.
Versatility: Camera slings are versatile and can be used for various types of photography, from street photography to hiking and travel. They are also a good choice for photographers who need to move quickly and efficiently.
Security: Many camera sling bags feature additional security measures such as lockable zippers or buckles to deter theft and keep your gear secure.
Style: Camera sling bags come in a range of styles and designs, allowing you to choose one that suits your personal taste and aesthetic preferences.
Camera slings offer a balanced combination of convenience, accessibility, and protection for photographers on the go. Whether you're exploring a new city or capturing moments in the great outdoors, a camera sling can be a practical and stylish choice for carrying your camera gear.

User questions & answers
Question: | can you wear it on either shoulder |
Answer: | The camera is connected to a pc or laptop already, will not work as stand alone. therefore pictures/movies are collected on PC. Camera is operated with software, SharpCap is preferred, since camera operation is very easy to control . |
Question: | Will the strap in the back interfere with a back pack |
Answer: | I looked up SV503 scope. It has a 1.25 inch tube ring. The 2 inch telescope scope focuser comes with a 2 inch to 1.25 inch adapter. So that you could also use all your 1.25 inch accessories with the SV503 telescope. The camera SVBONY SV305 comes with a 1.25" neck. It does not need any adapter. You will use the included 2 inch to 1.25 inch adapter. These products are designed to work together without having to buy anything extra. |
Question: | Would this work well with a Nikon d5 and a 200-500 lens |
Answer: | I looked at my SV305 to see what it could be. There are four Allen screws on the back - maybe one is loose. There should be nothing rattling inside - this is an electronic device. The 1.25" collar could be loose, tighten the thread. If this does not help, email SVBONY technical support. Does the CMOS window look solid, is it moving? There is nothing that moves in the camera. |

Product description
The BlackRapid Sport X Camera Strap is designed to be worn across a right-handed user's body, draped from the left shoulder to the right hip. Incorporating a generously-sized, moisture-wicking shoulder pad, this strap is built for the sport or adventure photographer who is carrying one camera and intends to move quickly whether on flat or rugged terrain. The Sport X camera strap further stabilizes the attached camera when used with its included BlackRapid underarm Stabilizing Strap. The underarm strap secures this strap under the user's left shoulder and prevents the attached camera from twisting as it rests along one's left side. When camera movement along the side is less of a concern, the underarm strap is easy to remove. To attach to a camera or a lens, the BlackRapid Sport X Camera Strap features a durable, brass and zinc-alloy CR-3 ConnectR locking carabiner. An included BlackRapid FR-5 FastenR Breathe creates a connection point using a camera or lens's 1/4"-20 tripod mount. The FR-5 FastenR has a large, integrated D-ring for easy use with BlackRapid straps that utilize a CR-3 ConnectR. The length of this strap is adjustable from 36.0 to 65.7" and its nylon webbing measures up to 1.0" wide. Spring-loaded bumper locks that can be slid up and down the length of the strap's webbing make it especially easy to limit excess camera movement along the length of the Sport X camera strap. By folding over a CR-3 ConnectR, the Lockstar Breathe prevents unintentional user contact with a CR-3 ConnectR that could cause it to accidentally unlock.
- Cross-Body Strap for Right-Handed Users
- Allows Easy and Fast Access to Camera; Underarm Stabilizing Strap
- Nylon Webbing, 65.7" Adjustable Length, 4.0"-Wide Shoulder Pad
- Spring-Loaded Bumper Locks for Camera; CR-3 ConnectR Locking Carabiner; LockStar ConnectR cover to secure carabiner; FR-5 FastenR Breathe; BlackRapid Camera Safety TetheR

Answer: | Main strap is about 5ft (this is measured unattached to the bag) |
Question: | What is the outside and inside size of the camera bag 6L |
Answer: | Dimensions External Dimensions : 35cm x 23.5cm x 12cm (13.8" x 9.3" x 4.7") Internal Dimensions : 27.9cm x 21.3cm x 6.9cm (11" x 8.4" x 2.7") |
Question: | Will this bag fit the Canon R6 with 24-105 lens |
Answer: | Both should fit both inside the bag especially if it’s the stm 24-105mm kit lens. The bag is small profile but you’ll be surprised how much you can fit inside the 6L peak design bag. Watch some YouTube videos you’ll have better idea what you can fit in the bag. |
Question: | What is the length of the strap for the 6L sling |
Answer: | one meter without extension and enough to be used as a fanny pack, and extended two meters and thirty centimeters. |

Question: | There are many complaints about the small underarm strap falling off. What has been done to correct this so it no longer happens |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the rain cover included? I don't see that anywhere in the product details section |
Answer: | Yes, mine did come with the rain cover. The big is not overly large, and can not accommodate an oversized lens. |
Question: | Does it come with a rain cover as the description shows |
Answer: | You can probably rig it so it can but I wouldn't suggest it. My first sling bag and I like the light weight aspect of the design. I had it recently on a trip to London and find it almost a bit too much as I put too much inside and only on one shoulder. So I would say if you want to carry more gear, stick to a traditional back pack with 2 straps. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Does this bag have a place to attach a tripod to the side of it |
Answer: | NO! The divider between the top and bottom compartments is sewn in and cannot be removed. The lower large compartment has small dividers that can be removed. |
Question: | Can top compartment divider to be removed to make one large main compartment |
Answer: | I'd have to say yes. I pack DSLR w/18-55 lens, 75-300 lens, 14mm wide angle lens, travel tripod and accessories. Plenty of room for what you listed. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will the 250 hold a mavic pro and a Canon 70D with 18-135mm lens |
Answer: | No, Mavic will only fit in large pocket that camera goes in so, there would be no room for camera body. |
Question: | I know the 250 is larger and designed for dslr's, but will the 150 hold a canon 7d mk ii with 18-135 lens? I don't plan on carrying more than that |
Answer: | Yes this backpack will hold the Canon 7D Mark II with the 18-135mm IS as the internal dividers are customizable and the width of the compartment is just over 8 inches. You would also have room for a compact lens stored off camera as well as filters and other accessories like batteries and a charger. |
Question: | Will this sling bag fit my small frame. I am 5'3" and size |
Answer: | Yes ... it should fit you just fine. The straps are adjustable and the bag is fairly small. |
Question: | Does this bag work well for large people, I'm about 6' and |
Answer: | I went with the Edge 250. I'm 6' 3" and 295 and it fit fine but will hang slightly crooked on your back. It will accommodate a tablet better than the 150, I think. Even the 250 seems small at my size. |

Product description
The Utility Strap™ offers a streamlined option for carrying small bags, battery packs and much more. The neoprene, internal support foam and non skid surface are bonded together to form a comfortable, durable strap that can make carrying extra gear a joy.
The original Utility Strap™ - Swivel incorporates 3/4" (1,9cm) webbing, quick disconnects and rugged locking swivel clips.
The Utility Strap™ - 3/8" uses 3/8" (9,5mm) connectors and is designed to fit film or digital cameras and binoculars.
The Utility Strap™ - Sling offers quick access to your camera while maintaining the security of a strap worn across the shoulder. Using OP/TECH USA's exclusive Uni-Loop connectors, your gear hangs securely at your side and will glide up and down the sling without interfering with a camera's tripod connection. Two Uni-Loop connectors (included with strap) allow for use with a pro battery pack and offer even more options for carrying gear. OP/TECH USA's quick disconnects (QDs) are rated at 146 pounds tensile strength, so you know your gear is secure.
The Utility Strap™ - Sling XL Quick Adjust offers all the great features of the regular version but adjusts to hold gear up to 5" lower. And speaking of adjustments, the Quick Adjust feature allows the sling to be cinched to any length with just a tug on the webbing loop. This is especially handy when gear needs to be kept close to the body in rough terrain or in large crowds. To lengthen the sling, simply lift the buckle with a single finger and pull down the camera with the other hand. Quick and easy!
The Utility Strap™ is available in two colors—Black and Nature—and in the following styles:
- Swivel: 40"–53" (101,6cm–134,6cm)
- 3/8": 26"–53" (66cm–134,6cm)

- Comfortably carry heavy equipment for extended periods of time with the internal control-stretch system and lycra(r) binding
- Includes two quick disconnects Plus two Uni-Loop connectors
- Non-skid surface keeps the neoprene strap securely on your shoulder
- Fully adjustable in length 26. 5" To 31" (67, 3cm - 78, 7cm)
- Made in the USA
User questions & answers
Question: | Does this attach at one point to the camera or do you use both points? I have an Op/Tech neck strap and the clips are opposite of this strap |
Answer: | You use the normal strapping points on your camera. See the little loop things on the upper left of the picture? Those go through the hard points (I can't remember the name of the knot right now, but it's where you shove the loop through the hard point, then tuck the clip through the loop). You could use one or both hard points as you prefer. |
Question: | Is the webbing that is sewn onto the pad 1" or 3/4"? I know the main webbing is 3/4", but I'm looking at the sewn onto the pad part for a modified use |
Answer: | Half of the answers here say 3/4" and the other half say 1" - How can we know which is true, I went ahead and bought this and the straps on mine measure one inch (1") wide. |
Question: | Does this strap work okay when trying to shoot in vertical orientation? I read a couple of reviews that said they had problems with this. Thanks |
Answer: | i just get my thumbs between the two clips and spread them out of the way, if they get in my way. i don't find a problem with it. love that its very secure. especially if you have $$$ camera. |
Question: | How does the OP?TECH sling work for hiking...does anyone have experience with this versus the Black Rapid...Nikon D-5100 with 70-300...thanks |
Answer: | I don't use this for hiking, when I'm on trail I use their uni adapter loops tied to the loops on my pack harness. It takes a bit of work to figure out the right combination of loops and straps to get the right length for each pack, but it's SO much more comfortable to hang that 5 pound Nikon rig off the harness of my 75L pack! Not only does the pack harness do a much better job of spreading the load, but the extra 5 pounds hanging off the front does an amazing job of offsetting the 40 pound load on my back. It's hard to imagine, but that offset actually makes it more comfortable to hike WITH a 5 pound camera than without it. I do the same on my 20L pack for day hiking, and it works just fine, too. The lighter pack harness doesn't distribute the load quite as well as the 75L harness does, but still major improvement over hanging it off your neck. It takes a different combination of straps and loops to get it just right. I do find it annoying to have the camera banging against my belly with every step, and in rough terrain you want the camera tucked in close. I hooked a loop of shock cord around the left hip belt. When I need to tuck in for hard climbing I tuck the lens into the loop of shock cord. It's fast, comfortable and it just works great for me. I'm a confirmed Op/Tech fan! |

Utility Strap-Sling
The Utility Strap-Sling offers ideal comfort and versatility in a cross-chest design while keeping your tripod mount accessible. The unique neoprene pad comfortably conforms to the contours of your body distributing the weight evenly over a larger area. As the pad of the strap combines neoprene and elastic at its core, it absorbs the shock of your movements. There's really nothing like it.
Strap length: 26.5"–31" (67,3cm–78,8cm)†.
The versatile system lets you customize the strap to suit your needs
Using OP/TECH USA's exclusive Uni-Loop connectors, gear hangs securely at the side and will glide up and down the sling without interfering with a camera's tripod mount connection. Most cameras will only need one Uni-Loop, but for cameras with a third strap-connection point located on the battery grip, the second Uni-Loop Connector will be used. You can also use a System Connector-Extension to attach the second Uni-Loop on any camera if desired. Using a really large lens? Try combining the Utility Strap-Sling to our System Connector-Lens Loops. They attach securely to the lens so that pressure is relieved from the lens mount area. Want to convert the sling back to a traditional camera strap? No problem! The System Connectors-Extensions easily make the conversion. The versatility never ends!
The patented weight reduction system in the strap makes gear feel 50% lighter and 100% more comfortable!
For more possibilities, combine the Utility Strap-Sling with OP/TECH USA pouches and system connectors.
† The Utility Strap-Sling and Utility Strap-Sling XL Quick Adjust are measured from the top of the shoulder to the end of the Uni-Loop Connector. The Swivel and 3/8" versions are measured from end to end.

Answer: | Yes inside the camera compartment there is a zippered mesh pocket not very deep but long. |
