User questions & answers

Question: How high is the tripod and is the focuser on the 80 and 90mm metal
Answer: Between the two the 60 is much better, especially for the minimal price difference. The bigger objective means you see dimmer objects and the image will be sharper so you can use a slightly higher max power. More importantly, the 60 comes with a sturdier tripod (less vibration), better mount (easier to get the scope pointed where you want it and to follow objects as they move across the sky), better eyepieces (wider field of view the "circle" you see when you look through looks bigger, like looking through a bigger window and sharper focus), better diagonal (correct images instead of mirror images), and a red dot finder. The 50 isn't a terrible scope (I have a similar Coleman 50 I received as a gift that I put on a better mount to make it more usable), but you physically won't be able to see as many things with it since fainter objects are outside the reach of the scope.
Question: What is the difference between the 50 & the
Answer: Hello John, the hole placed at the center of the dovetail plate is 1/4" x 20 threaded hole. And yes you can remove the dovetail plate as I did with my own and place another dovetail plate of your choice, but remember the other dovetail plate if longer may not align with the two holes drilled into the telescope. The two holes in the telescope are 3 - 5/16" O.C. so you may have to drill another hole and tap it for threads depending on the other dovetail plate you intend to use. What I did was purchased the https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000XMVKO and the https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0069WCOA2 and was able to attach them to each other and couple the rings onto the scope right where I needed it to be so I could have a properly balanced telescope.
Question: Does the Meade 102mm AZ have a standard 1/4" by 20 threaded hole at the bottom to attach it to a different tripod
Answer: Please ignore Ronald Burchett's answer. He is incorrect. As Sjpp71 says, yes, of course you can see deep sky objects (DSOs), including most of the Messier objects, which Messier himself also observed with a 4-inch achromat. However, Messier was observing in the 18th century, and there was absolutely ZERO light pollution then. You would have to travel far away from civilization to see skies as dark as he experienced. The Crab Nebula (M1) is a difficult object under light-polluted skies. That's because the magnitude that is listed for it, 8.4, is what's called an "integrated" magnitude - as if all the light from the nebula were coming from one star-sized point. Because the nebula is spread out and far larger than a star, that means that its surface brightness is much, much lower. I've tried viewing it from Manhattan with a 5-inch scope and have been completely unsuccessful, as my awful light pollution brightens the sky and washes it out. However, I'd love to travel out into the wilderness and try again!
Question: Can you see beyond the solar system, to say, the crab nebula
Answer: Per Champro Sports sizing is as follows: Adult - 6 3/4 - 7 1/2Youth - 6 1/4 - 6 3/4

User questions & answers

Question: Does this telescope come with a robotic system for locating celestial bodies? And is it suitable for sharp viewing of the moon and planets from a brig
Answer: No usb. These mounts are entry level mounts for visual astronomy only.
Question: Does the telescope have an usb port so i can connect with my laptop
Answer: You can use DLSR cameras with the addition of the Meade #64 T-Adapter (07363), along with a T-Mount specific to the brand of your camera. We have T-Mounts for Canon (07384) and Nikon (07378). We also have the LPI-G cameras (Color and Monochromatic) that have a standard 1.25” nosepiece and wouldn't require an additional adapter.
Question: Does this telescope have a mount on back, to attach a camera to take pictures
Answer: You have full control of the telescope manually or with computer
Question: Can you use this telescope manually (without the computer) if you want to? Or do you need to use the computer everytime
Answer: There is a focuser on all of them. I have the 102 which has a 2" with an adapter for 1 1/4. Meade assures me that this scope will take 2" eyepieces and a 2" diagonal. Be aware though that This scope only has a 4" Vixen dovetail and is hard to balance if you use an EQ mount.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this an erect image diagonal
Answer: No. I have never seen Meade product to work with any Apple product.
Question: Is the diagonal all one peice or are the tubes screwed/soldered into the diagonal? A molded one peice like the TeleVue or Celstron is what Im looking
Answer: This is hardware and therefore must work with an appropriate software. If your software, whatever it may be works in Windows 10 then this cable will also work. The primary software this cable set designed for was the Meade Autostar Updater which will work with Windows 10. Therefore this adapter and cable will work with Windows 10. However most new Windows 10 computers does not have a serial port and this cable set requires a serial port. You will need a USB to serial adapter to get a serial port. Most astro software will only work with com1 or com2 serial port. You must set make sure your serial port, real or from USB adapter, to either com1 or com2
Question: can you screw on an orion 2in filter on this piece
Answer: The Meade 505 cable will work with any telescopes that have a Meade 497 Autostar. Therefore if your telescope has a Meade 497 Autostar this cable will work. This cable will not work with any other Autostar such as Meade Autostar or Autostar II. The cable is connected between the Meade 497 Autostar and the computer, and not anywhere on the telescope.
Question: Does this have a threaded back? So I can use it on a Celestron C9.25 SGT: http://amzn.com/B0002CIAE
Answer: The Meade 505 cable is connect to the Meade 497 Autostar which controls the telescope. Therefore you must have a Meade 497 Autostar in order to use the Meade 505 cable. Therefore if you don't have a Meade 497 Autostar than this cable is not for you. If you have a Meade 497 Autostar with your Meade telescope (regardless of model) you can use the Meade 505 cable because you have to enter your telescope model into the Meade 497 Autostar! This cable will not work with Meade 494 Autostar.

User questions & answers

Question: Please only answer if you recieved one recently (early 2018), but does the Meade 80mm Adventure come with a metal focuser and metal dew shield
Answer: The only item in that setup that would require a battery is the red dot finder scope and it comes with a battery included.
Question: Does this come with batteries
Answer: This is not a Vixen style mounting no it is a photo tripod type mounting.
Question: Is it a tiny vixen dovetail rail on the tube
Answer: As long as you have a decent motor drive and (much) better mount to secure your telescope tube, you should not have a problem using it.
Question: Can i use a motor drive with this
Answer: The mount is a Meade “go-to” Mount in that is has a catalogue of celestial objects in its database located in the handset. All in all, these mounts are pretty good for an entry level telescope experience, and yes, you should get pretty awesome views of the moon. The planets that will stand out best are Jupiter and Saturn and possibly Mars. For the best accuracy for object go tos, follow the instructions and polar align the scope so it knows where it’s at. The handset also has commentary about the particular object you have chosen to observe which is cool too.

User questions & answers

Question: Would the 616001 polaris 70-80-90mm bag fit a celestron astromaster 90az (1000mm focal length) telescope? the polaris 90mm has a 900mm focal length
Answer: The 102mm scope should fit. I use mine to transport a 120mm scope.
Question: Will this fit a 102mm Infinity telescope
Answer: As far as I can tell, the Celestron 70 EQ is basically the same telescope as the Meade 70 mm Polaris so it should fit with no problem. I use my bag for the 80 mm Polaris refractor with equatorial mount. With the right ascension drive motor installed, its a little bit of a tight fit, but ample room for the optical tube which fits in a sleeve with a Velcro band at the end that holds the tube securely. There is plenty of room for two 1-gal Ziploc bags with eyepieces, filters etc. so it's pretty useful. Nice, sturdy bag, too!
Question: Will my celestron powerseeker 70EQ fit well in this case
Answer: Yes, with room to spare. I also put my tripod in there with it.
Question: Will this bag fit the Celestron 114EQ telescope
Answer: I believe it will fit. But here is how to check to make sure. Remove your azimuth mount. The azimuth mount is the bracket that your telescope tube itself mounts onto. Remove that mount and collapse the tripod to the shortest length. Measure the length of your tripod fully collapsed. If your tripod is than 40” inches or less then it will fit because this nice Meade bag is 40” inches long.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work with Cannon Powershot A
Answer: Yes, this cable is compatible with Meade ETX 90 and 125 series of Telescopes
Question: Will this work with a Fujifilm x100t? Do I need any other adapters
Answer: I use mine on my ETX 90. I like it , but since I drive a hybrid it sometimes drains the tiny car battery so it needs a jump. :-/ If the Starnavigator has similar power requirements it should work. But I recommend having a full-size car battery and AC charger you can use at home to recharge after an observing session.
Question: Will this mounting ring work with a canon rebel
Answer: Works with Meade ETX90, ETX-125, LXD-75, LS and LT models, LX90 models, LX200GPS and ACF models up to 14" diameter, all RCX/LX400 models, and other models which have a 12V "phono" type power input jack.
Question: Would this work with a Meade ETX
Answer: This is just a 12 volt DC power cord. I believe tip hot. Look on your Meade power supply for the "Output" section. It will tell you there what the output is, the Max Amp rating as well as whether the tip is hot or common. Hope this helps.

User questions & answers

Question: Can I use another tripod I have a bigger sturdier and has wheels
Answer: Yes and you should! The tripod is the weakest link on this product. This isn't a mark against the company, as the tripod is often the weakest link in any optics set up. I am not sure why your tripod has wheels or how that would benefit, since orienting objects are easier to do using a stable base and the spotting scope attachment along an axis, but hey, follow your heart!
Question: How do you attach the cell phone holder? It is not even mentioned in the instructions
Answer: There is a part of the cell phone holder that twists. As you twist clockwise or counter clockwise the opening widens I order for the eyepiece to fit in it. Once you are able to fit the cellphone holder on the eye piece you tighten the twisting part to fasten the cellphone holder in place. I hope that helps.
Question: Does it can see the moon
Answer: Yes it can does see the moon.... Really it just magnifies the light that comes into your eyeball which your brain interprets as the moon.
Question: What all can you see with this telescope
Answer: The parking lot across the street was all ilI could ever see. It is absolutely trash. The company must be giving all these great reviews

User questions & answers

Question: Is it compatible with a Celestron PowerSeeker 127eq
Answer: They are optically equivalent. You’ll get a good zoom eyepiece regardless of which of the two brands you choose.
Question: How does this zoom eyepiece compare to the Celestron zoom eyepiece (both sold here on Amazon
Answer: I'm not sure about needing no refocusing Scott. What I do is use this as my only eye piece. It was getting very irritating to me to have to switch for a more powerful magnification eye piece in the dark and then try to refocus it. As part of my setup for night observation, I always focus on a very well lit porch or yard light way down our street. By doing that, I don't have to refocus this lens as I move through its zoom capabilities. I've used it at night several times along the shores of Lake Erie and find it to be just excellent, easy to zoom. Hope this helps you some. If it was me, I would talk to Meade Customer Service. I have found them to be extremely helpful in the past. For example, I needed a new bronze wheel for my refocusing knob and they just sent it to me at no cost. Very good people out there. Sometimes they will need to research a question some and get back to you.
Question: Is this zoom eyepiece parfocal with other Series 4000 eyepieces
Answer: This will work on any telescope that uses 1.25" eyepieces.
Question: On what teles models works this zoom

User questions & answers

Question: would that work on any telescope
Answer: That's an error, it is definitely a 2" eyepiece. It's big, like a rather large grenade. The shorter focal length Meade 5000s are 1 1/4" though.
Question: Hello, the title says 2 inch eyepiece, but in the description it says 1.25. Is it a 2 inch eyepiece ? Is it a meade 5000 82 degree field of view
Answer: I had to "pull" the eye piece out a little bit to get it to an operable focal length. You can test this by inserting the eye piece as usual. Use your focus to get it as clear as it will go. If this happens to be outward, then you can continue to loosen the screws that secure the eye piece and slowly pull it outward. If it focuses, great, you need a spacer. In my case, I needed only 1/16" so the original screws held it fine. If you have a barlow, you can try that too.
Question: I just got the meade 20mm 2 inch but in woun't focus, not even on planets.any ideas? by the way my orion xt8 dob it's perfectly collimated
Answer: Lol how often do you use your telescope in the rain or underwater?! No of course it's not, just like 99.999999% of any of type of lens. It's fairly well made, Chinese manufactured of course. It will hold up well under dewy conditions with care.
Question: Is this water proof
Answer: Yes...this is a 1.25" eyepiece and will fit the focus tube of the Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ.While you're at it, Pick up a 1.25" Neutral Density filter (a.k.a moon filter -- not the green one) if you plan on looking at the moon. Your eyes will thank you.
