Not something I would care to do as it compromises the camera's weatherproof security and exposes the SDHC card slot to dust contamination.I've been using ION cameras for about 3 years now, and have never had the battery die before I had enough video captured. When you stop and consider that a full length movie feature runs between 90 to 110 minutes (typically) the camera has more than enough battery and video storage capacity (I've never used more than 16gb SDHC) to thoroughly bore even the most loyal family and friends. And recharge with this camera has never exceeded 30 minutes.Good luck with it.

Answer:	You have to remove the cap ......first flip the unlock toggle....(up)...to unl;ock then turn cap to the left to revove the waterproof cap ...that will allow you to install or remove a/an micro SD card

Answer:	As far as I know, and I've owned two, I have not discovered a way for it to time-stamp the video recordings. You set the time/date via the onboard program and using your computer when you connect it via the USB cord and it is simple to do.

Answer:	I am sorry to hear you purchased an iON SnapCam. Burst Mode is not time lapse. In Burst Mode, it takes 5, 10, etc. pictures in 1 second. However, Burst Mode doesn't actually work, nor does most anything they claim it does.If you've gotten this far, you are well beyond what a typical user can achieve. The manual (page EN-10) says to enable Time Lapse Mode, you must use your cell phone and SnapCam App. Unfortunately, there is no time lapse option (and the Burst Mode doesn't do anything at all). Great hardware (video quality is great), but the software/firmware/manual must be some of the worst on the planet. Epic failure. To those reading DO NOT PURCHASE.Getting the iPhone app to even connect is undocumented and almost impossible. Start the app, and pick your SnapCam icon (it will be something like Snapxxxx.). Then you have to do a Bluetooth pairing request (usually VWW01). After that, you'll hear a long beep. Next, if that even worked, you'll have a different option screen, and you can pick the top left SnapCam icon. Doing so results in a message something to the effect of "Go to iPhone Settings & Conenct to Wi-Fi Name: SnapCam_xxxx, Password 123456789". Wait several minutes, because the Wi-Fi option does NOT connect to YOUR wi-fi, it has its own server. So, wait a few minutes then go to Settings on your iPhone and eventually, you will see the the Snap_xxxx Wi-Fi network. Connect with the password "123456789". It will probably fail a few times, but eventually it might work. After all that, switch back to the SnapCam app, and I had to hit the back button, then try to reconnect and it worked. After all that, assuming it worked, you'll have the app connected and working giving you Record, Photo Burst, Snapshot, Short Record, Jump to to Media and Settings. Note there is no Time Lapse, and the last firmware update was October 2015 (even installing the firmware update is ridiculously hard). Even setting the date/time is ridiculously hard for a normal user. Despite the amazing amounts of negative reviews (Best Buy dropped it), they haven't even tried to update the firmware to address issues for almost 7 months now.Making the App even more worthless, if your phone locks itself, say after 1 or 5 minutes, it kills the connection and your camera stops working. Start all over again. One last comment is that when the battery dies, your entire video may be corrupt and unusable (1.5 hours of video memories lost forever), as it doesn't split into chunks, everything is lost.I've tried Technical Support and it appears to be non-existent. Almost seems like the company abandoned the product, but they don't mind continuing to sell it to unsuspecting victims...Just my opinion but I HIGHLY ADVICE READERS TO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT.

Answer:	I had a Contour+2 is not efficient with low light recording with little light in this type of camera is a tricky thing.

Answer:	It DOES have a mic jack. I have used an Audio Technica OMNI ATR3350 with good results. I have since started using a bluetooth mic linked to a recording App on my cell phone and just edit in the sound later with Sony Movie Studio software. For the ATR3350 you need two adapters: One adapts a stereo plug to a mono plug and the second adapts a larger plug on the ATR3350 to a smaller plug used by the camera.
Question:	Is the Contour Plus 2 waterproof without the case? Like the Contour Roam is? How much bulk/weight does the case add (for a head mount
Answer:	After using my +2, I wouldn't put it underwater without the case. If it's just raining I would be confident it would function perfectly fine without the waterproof case. Most of the recording I've done, is off-road and I mainly use the waterproof case even if it isn't raining. Just for the extra protection from the trail. I have also done some video with the case being used on my head mount. I really can't tell if it is there or not. The added weight is barely noticeable.
Question:	what's the difference between the old package (1700) and new package (1701)? Is the camera different or just the package
Answer:	The packaging is different and what is included in the box is different. The old version comes with an HDMI cable and a microphone extension cable, the new version comes with a small sleeve to put the camera in (no HDMI or microphone cable).

Answer:	Very well. I mount it on the,motor to my bass boat and run 67 mph down the lake and no problem at all.

Answer:	The surface that it sticks to needs to be flat to work as designed. I had this stuck to my snowmobile windshield where it was flat and even in extreme cold temps it never came off. If you can get it to stick on a helmet it should work but I would still get a tether to insure you don't lose or damage the camera if it was to come loose.

Answer:	The suction is great. Help on to my snowboard very well on my snowboarding trip... BUT The problem with this mount is the top half/ Camera mount. My camera would not stay is place do to the wild vibrations of the board!:( Bummer! As for kayak use, i think is would work "Just Fine." The motion of the kayak will be more of a gentle up-and-down roll, then a slam on ice from 20 feet! Even though mine broke... I would buy another one if i was going kayaking and wannted to film the trip. Works great in the car too!

Answer:	Yes,very good and user friendly camera.much better than go pro

Answer:	Yes, that is how I have mine mounted. Use the L-shape ball joint mount. Thing to remember is, the side of helmet does not have as much of a curve. So I filled gap between adhesive and base mount (in the middle) with hot glue. Also harder to aim camera from the side. Point of view doesn't look as good as it does as from the top of helmet.

Answer:	The red stickems you see in the photo are double sided. it's really, really strong sticking material (glue) but you can remove it any time you want to, so say you put it on a rear fender it will hold although I highly recommend a leash of some kind, you can find leashes on amazon real cheap (10.00 for 5 w/lanyard. I have used the same mounts and put them on helmets to gas tanks. Just make sure you mount said mounting hardware after you have cleaned both surfaces really well. I crashed w/one mounted on my helmet holding a Garmin virb, the visor was cracked, And I was knocked goofy, but sure enough the camera was still in place and recorded the whole thing, much to the amusement of myself and those who viewed the video.

Answer:	No it does not.
Question:	Does it have the autorotation G-Sensor
Answer:	yes, but it only works with the HD video oriented horizontally when the camera is right side up or upside down, not when the camera is sideways.when the camera is sideways, the HD video is oriented vertically...
Question:	Can you record while the camera is charging? Is the battery replacible
Answer:	the camera will record while charging. I've used it to make a timelapse for several hours, recording (well taking pictures every 5 seconds) with the adapter plugged in, as the camera only has an autonomy of about two hours. The battery is internal and cannot be removed or replaced.
