8 best extension tube for nikon d3400
An extension tube is an essential accessory for macro photography enthusiasts looking to capture extreme close-up shots with their Nikon D3400 camera. Extension tubes are designed to increase the distance between the camera's image sensor and the lens, allowing you to focus on objects at much closer distances than the lens's standard minimum focusing distance. Here are some key details about extension tubes for the Nikon D3400:
Compatibility: Extension tubes are available for various camera brands and lens mounts. You'll need to ensure that you choose extension tubes compatible with Nikon F-mount lenses, which are used with the Nikon D3400.
Function: Extension tubes are hollow cylinders with no optical elements. They simply serve to increase the space between the lens and the camera's sensor. This added distance allows the lens to focus on closer objects, effectively turning a standard lens into a macro lens.
Macro Photography: Extension tubes are primarily used for macro photography, where you want to capture tiny details of subjects like flowers, insects, or small objects. They enable you to get much closer to your subject, resulting in higher magnification.
Aperture Control: Some extension tubes feature electrical contacts that maintain communication between the camera and the lens. This allows you to control the aperture of the lens, which is crucial for achieving the desired depth of field in macro shots.
Auto-Focus: Extension tubes may impact auto-focus capabilities. While some models support auto-focus, others may require manual focusing due to the increased distance between the lens and the sensor.
Extension Tube Length: Extension tubes come in various lengths, typically measured in millimeters (e.g., 12mm, 20mm, 36mm). You can use them individually or stack them together to achieve different levels of magnification.
Image Quality: The use of extension tubes may affect image quality. As there are no additional optical elements, the image quality largely depends on the quality of your lens. Some loss of sharpness and light may occur.
Tripod and Lighting: Macro photography often requires the use of a tripod to stabilize your camera and sufficient lighting to illuminate your subject adequately. Consider investing in these accessories for better results.
In summary, extension tubes for the Nikon D3400 are valuable tools for macro photographers. They enable you to capture extreme close-up shots by increasing the distance between the camera's sensor and the lens. When choosing extension tubes, ensure compatibility with your Nikon F-mount lenses and consider your specific photography needs, such as auto-focus capabilities and desired magnification levels.

Answer: | The Canon 200D should be a Canon Rebel DSLR which uses the EF and EF-S Canon lenses so, the answer is yes, it should fit. I use this Extension tube on my Canon 50D, 60D and 1D mark IIN, it works great. |
Question: | Can I change the aperture from the camera |
Answer: | It is |
Question: | Will these mcoplus extension tubes work with a Nikon D |
Answer: | It is compatible with ANY body that mounts Canon EF lenses. If your 6D takes EF mount lenes this will fit on it. |
Question: | Will this work with Nikon D |
Answer: | Hello. My Canon T-6 uses the EF-S lenses and with all three tubes attached the auto focus worked fine. With my 18-55mm set to 55mm, all three tubes on, focus was about one inch from the lens! They are supposed to work EF lenses. Hope that helped some. I'm not a professional but I'm looking forward to working with these extension tubes and spring time nature close-ups. Best wishes for your macro photography, John |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you control aperture with this extension tube |
Answer: | The D5500 is also on a DX platform. It works on my D3300 (Dx), but the automatic focus functions are glitchy It will give you an extension of your lens, creating some decent macros at a minimal cost. Manual settings work best for me with this. |
Question: | Will the extension tubes work on the D |
Answer: | Don't know why not. Worst case the auto focus won't work, but if your serious about macro your manually focusing anyway. |
Question: | Will it work on my Nikon D |
Answer: | I purchased a set and was not able to get a focus. |
Question: | does auto focus work on 70D model |
Answer: | You can, but the fit is very loose. I did not work for me. I ended up returning it. |
Question: | Can you mount the male adapter straight to the female adapter with no tube in between |
Answer: | Use a search engine and the search term "speed controller singer 9005" and it will lead you to an Amazon product Generic Singer Sewing Machine Foot Control Pedal with Cord 979314-031 for under $14. They show the pins in the image so you can compare it to your machine. Good luck, if you haven't already found what you needed. :) |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it work in D |
Answer: | Hi Sandy, I believe the Df is a f mount. If it is, this should fit. |
Question: | Does it work on Nikon Df |
Answer: | It's supposed to but it didn't on mine. |
Question: | Does work on D |
Answer: | I'm using them on an a58 and they work nicely. Camera controls (including aperture) are not affected. |
- It moves the lens farther from the film or digital sensor. The farther away the lens is, the closer the focus, the greater the magnification
- This extension tube does not affect image quality as there is no optics inside. In comparison, a close up filters are often blamed for degrading image quality
- Use this set will not downgrade the optical quality of your lens. Sharpness and Saturation can be still maintained. But they are not meter-coupled

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this tube work without an aperture ring in the lens |
Answer: | These rings use the in-camera, "screwdriver slot" autofocus motor. The D60 doesn't have one. I would expect the rings to work fine using manual focus. |
Question: | I've tried this with my D60 and cannot seem to get it to work. It wouldn't connect with my meter. Does anyone know if it should work with a D |
Answer: | Yes it is compatible with EF and EF-S. However you will lose the ability to focus to infinity. These extension tubes work very well with my T3i and aperture and auto-focus will still work, (as will the TTL Flash) , although I find manual focus works better for macro-photography. There is no glass, just hollow electronically linked tubes that crop the lens image onto your sensor thereby enlarging it, because there is no glass there is no image degradation. They worked very well for me. |
Question: | Is this compatible with Canon EF and EF-s lenses |
Answer: | If you buy the Nikon mount set, they work on a variety of lenses. I don't have a D7000. I have D3200 and D5100 and I use them with the kit lens(18-55), and a Sigma 18-250. They work great with both these lenses. I've been just using one tube at a time. With the Sigma lens, I can get good close-ups at about 12 inches. |
Question: | I have a D7000 and I mostly shoot with 35mm prime lens. Will this work with this gear |
Answer: | I dont think is a good buy. It didnt work with my D3400. |

User questions & answers
Question: | will this work on a Nikon d3000 and Nikon d |
Answer: | Hi 0205, the camera is not capable of recording videos to the Memory Stick media, Only pictures can be saved in the card. Thanks_Mitch |
Question: | Do these lenses work on the d |
Answer: | I think so, as long as the tape format is the same, in this case media is the mini DV tape and format is AVI, uncompressed audio/video signal of the highest quality. mini DV tapes are used for this format as they have large memory, unlike memory cards, HD's etc which mostly use compressed format (say mp4 etc) and yet claim in some cases to be HQ recordings |
Question: | auto focus not working, have nikon d50 and 18-55 DX lense. is there a problem with this setup |
Answer: | Uses mini DV tapes. Has an adapter that connects to the handycam with standard yellow, white, red plugs for video, audio lt, rt. Also has connections for USB (I assume 1.0 since the camera is so old, firewire (labeled as DV in/out, s-video, headphone, mic, and one labeled "lang" that I did not look up in the manual. I use it for filming swimmers underwater. I have an underwater camera on a pole, connect to the handycam with video input through the adapter, so really using the camera as a video recorder, then film starts with the camera itself, then show using the adpter and video output with a projector, use the handycam as a video player. I have also copied the tape contents to a computer using the DV (firewire) port, then edited and displayed to the swimmers using the Dartfish program. This is the only camera I found still available that could do all that, especially the video recorder/player functions. |
Question: | Ok, from what i'm reading, it states that these will work w/nikon d series, i have a nikon d3200 and i'm wondering if these will work n also how. ty |
Answer: | Hello. The Sony DCRTRV30 is approx. 50 x 2.8 x 21.5mm (2 x 1/8 x 7/8in) (w/h/d) so you can use any bag or case that is large enough to fit that size. |
Product description
Fotodiox Macro Extension Tubes are a wonderful substitution for expensive macro lenses, enabling you to convert almost any lens into a macro lens at a fraction of the cost while maintaining its original optical quality. By placing distance between your camera body and lens, focusing distance is shortened and the magnifying effect of your subject is created. Macro tubes increase the lens-to-sensor distance, allowing for closer focusing than what is normally allowed by the lens itself. The greater the length of the extension tube, the closer the lens can focus. This means you can now get macro performance without needing to switch to a specialized lens and you will retain all the normal benefits of your optic when the macro function is not in use.
The camera mount coupling adapter and lens mount coupling adapter can be used independently of the extension tubes or you can add in the tubes for extreme macro photography. Because no other optical components are added with this kit, the image preserves the original optical properties of the lens. This is an affordable and simple way to turn your existing lens into an inexpensive macro lens. This tube set includes a lens-coupling ring and a body-coupling ring; three extension tubes of various sizes are also included to build up to the desired magnification. Life size image can be achieved with this set up.

Question: | will this work with Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S NIKKOR FX Lens |
Answer: | Yes, that lens has a 52mm diameter. It's the same lens I use with it.Edit... I have the 50mm f/1.8D AF lens. Should still work though. It's the same thing as screwing a UV filter on. |
Question: | Hi, will this work on the Minolta Maxxum series of autofocus lenses?? Those are the type of lenses i happen to have, not the fully manual MD/MC mount |
Answer: | Nope. They do not have the electrical connectors for a motorized lens like those. Sorry this is only for the MD/MC mount style lenses |
Question: | hello,Will this work on my Nikon D |
Answer: | It works on my D750... |
Question: | im confused as to what this actually does? will this actually help me in any way get a clearer shot of close up items |
Answer: | Use extension tubes with a prime lens. Not so good with zooms. Best lenses are those with MANUAL f-stop rings, otherwise you can only shoot with the smallest aperture. You can indeed get way closer and shots will be very sharp. |
